About Meg Maccini

I am a New Englander and grew up in central MA and a suburb of Boston. For twenty years, I was a public school teacher and principal in Boston Public Schools. Currently, I am finishing a PhD program in Education Anthropology with plans to return to public education.

Meg Maccini purchased this house in 2000

Why Meg Maccini chose Boston

Initially, I bought this home because it reminded me of my great aunt's and uncle's farmhouse in Southern Vermont, where my family would visit in the summer. The house is quaint and has great warmth and character. Over the years that I have owned the house, I have totally renovated it, adding a new kitchen, an additional full bath and a great room with a vaulted ceiling. I have landscaped the yard with local plants and old cobblestones recycled from Boston's streets. While the house is modernized, it retains its unique character and charm.

What makes this house unique

Wonderful, gated private yard, off street parking, great neighbors and neighborhood. Jamaica Plain is one of Boston's most diverse neighborhoods and has a vibrant art and cafe culture within walking distance of the house.

4 Generations Together -- Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 5 out of 5
This was the perfect place for our family to stay. We attended a wedding held in downtown Boston. The Lee Street "HomeAway" was much more comfortable and fun than staying in a hotel in the middle of the city. This charming house with plenty of space and privacy for all of us reminded us of the 1820 farmhouse we grew up in. We had 4 generations staying here together (holds up to 8 guests)...from 91 year old Grandpa to a little one of 3 years. Nice modern kitchen -- very handy. We also used the washer/dryer - very convenient. Bedrooms are spread out for privacy and there is an extra sitting room called the "library." The master bedroom is very spacious! Loved having the luxury of a two car driveway for parking especially with little one and Grandpa. We were close enough for walks to "JP" center and to the near by subway stop. A beautiful setting and large backyard! Everything was clean and spotless. Didn't need to call the property manager for anything. Owner was responsive and answered all our pre-visit questions. It was a lovely place to stay and met all our needs and expectations!!

Wonderful Stay

  • 4 out of 5
We found the house to be as listed. It was clean. Meg goes above and beyond providing extra essentials (shampoo, dish detergent, tissues, etc) just too much to list. The washer and dryer were an added extra. It was a leisurely 10 minute walk along a walking trail to the train. Then a 15 to 20 minute ride into downtown Boston. The driveway was a plus. The best thing about this home was the patio and backyard. We sat out there every night relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Would recommend the Farmhouse and we would stay should we visit Boston again.

Beautiful, Charming, and Well Kept Farmhouse

  • 5 out of 5
This house has been completely redone and is immaculately kept and well stocked. The location is very convenient to getting into downtown Boston via car or public transportation. The local restaurants and stores are a few short blocks away and within easy walking distance. The owner is very responsive and goes above and beyond in providing a well written and comprehensive write up with information about the house and local neighborhood. I highly recommend this property and would rent again if back in the area.

Lovely historic home!

  • 5 out of 5
This house is in a bustling area full of shops and restaurants, but the street it is actually on is very quiet. My kids played catch in the street and hardly ever had to move for cars. It has a shady backyard and off-street parking.
It is very clean and is taken care of very well. We stayed with our five children and enjoyed it very much.

This was a lovely home which met our every need. It was very clean, roomy, cheerful, well maintained and convenient for us while visiting our son in Boston. Meg, the owner was very easy to work with and provided us with good customer service. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

A delightful, warm and cozy accomodations after a cold day of touring Boston!

  • 5 out of 5
My daughter had her college ECAC indoor track meet at the Reggie Lewis Center this past weekend. My decided to make a weekend of it with my neigbor from Philadelphia and my sister and her husband who flew in from San Francisco. The house was incredibly comfortable for gathering, chatting, catching up after long days of touring or watching track. I could only imagine how pleasant the backyard would be to sip wine and chat had the weather been warmer. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with pots/pans/spices/just about anything you would need. It was clean and beds were comfortable. This place is definitely a do over! Thanks Meg!

Jamaica Plain ('JP') is a section of Boston rich in history, the arts, cafes, restaurants and local shops. In the 19th century, JP was home to several beer breweries. Sam Adams beer got its start in the brewery district in JP and still maintains a small brewery there. Visit historic Doyle's Cafe and enjoy a 'Sam' beer sitting in the bar where many political figures, including the Kennedy's discussed politics. Ride your bicycle through the Emerald Necklace and Arnold Arboretum and enjoy Boston's 'greenest neighborhood.' Play a round of golf on one of Boston's best public golf courses in Franklin Park. During summers, rent a boat and sail across picturesque Jamaica Pond. Tour the quaint shops in the center of town and relax, enjoying lunch and coffee at one of the many eateries. Or take the Orange line 'T' train or bus (Boston's public transit) and be in downtown Boston within minutes. No matter what you choose to do, your vacation in Jamaica Plain will be memorable!
