Location, location, location! After living in the country, when our children left home, we downsized and moved into the city. We fell in love with the charm of our Victorian building and being in downtown Portland where everything is convenient and exciting!

Because we live on the premises, we are committed to providing a wonderful vacation experience for our guests. We honor your privacy, but are available with helpful hints and suggestions.

Gorgeous studio right in the heart of everything.

The studio was just perfect- so gorgeous, such unique charm, in a beautiful home with so much character. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, or a better location- just blocks from the Arts district's restaurants and galleries, easy walking distance to the old port, was ideal for really feeling part of the city and getting the best Portland has to offer. Sue and Barry were so hospitable, friendly and helpful. Perfect weekend!

Perfect

We had a wonderful stay in Portland. The studio apartment was the perfect size for two people. It was clean, well-decorated, and had everything we needed -- a kitchen, beautifully renovated bathroom, guide books, wi-fi, and places to sit and read. The location was excellent - within walking distance to great restaurants, the ferry, shopping, and museums. In addition, Sue and Barry were wonderful hosts. They were friendly and generous with their time and gave a lot of great recommendations. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we will definitely be back in the future.

Great Studio in Portland, ME

  • 5 out of 5
Sue and Barry were fantastic hosts. Not only did they go above and beyond by picking us up and dropping us off from the bus station, they also drove us around town and had tons of information about the city available at your finger tips in the room. The property was very accurately described and the perfect size for a couple looking to have a nice weekend in Portland. The finishes were very nicely done and had that Portland charm. The high ceilings made the place feel much larger and the windows facing the street were excellent. They were very great about responding to texts or giving recommendations, but were also great about giving you the privacy you want. The property was very clean and exactly what we wanted when we showed up. This was much nicer than staying in a chain hotel that were also very expensive. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking to have a great trip in Portland.

So Homey! Felt like Mr. Rogers neighborhood!

Sue and Barry made my stay feel so homey and neighborly. The space was intimate with most of the modern conveniences of home. I would only suggest having a hanging shower caddy available. I would certainly take this living option again when I come back to Portland. Thank you Sue and Barry for making Trisha and I feel so at home like family!

Wow!

  • 5 out of 5
We were beyond pleased with our visit to the studio apartment in the heart of Portland! The location was ideal – we were able to access any part of the downtown including west and east promenades, market area, Old Port, shoreline, park, lake, and ferry marina within 5 – 20 minutes. We truly left the car in the parking lot and spent 90% of our trip on our feet or our bikes exploring this fabulous city. Although we likely brought the 90-degree temperatures with us from the DC region, there was always a nice breeze coming from the waters and the high elevations. Additionally, Sue and Barry’s apartment offered a window AC unit and ceiling fan that made our warm evenings quite comfortable. The apartment is quaintly furnished with well-kept antique pieces. The kitchen offers all the necessities for a modern day cook. There was a small table and chairs for dining or computer work. There is even a comfortable settee for curling up with a good book. The newly updated bathroom is a work of art! Although petite, the apartment offered everything that we needed and we could not have asked for better lodging or hosts. Sue and Barry treated us like family during our stay. We had access to their laundry room and back yard patio. Barry even came to our rescue with a bike pump when an unexpected flat threatened our plans for a ride. Portland's food/dining also exceeded our expectations. We are healthy eaters who mostly follow vegetarian diets. We found that every restaurant offered several options and the ambiance of most of the places we visited was so welcoming. I honestly wish that we lived closer and could book this room for getaway weekends in the fall, winter, and spring. We strongly encourage couples or adults to visit for a relaxing and nurturing vacation. Sue and Barry have created their own oasis in Portland and fortunately have decided to share it with others!
