Great Location, Great Hosts

  • 5 out of 5
Sue and Barry did an excellent job on the remodel of their home. They were very welcoming and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time in Portland. They were available for questions and help, but stayed completely out of our way. The Studio room we rented was perfect for our couples weekend getaway. The location makes all of downtown Portland walkable. The room itself was clean, well thought out and comfortable. My wife and I had a great visit to Portland and can't wait to do it again.

Wonderful Studio w/ all the conveniences of home

  • 5 out of 5
You will not be disappointed with your stay here. Sue and Barry are the perfect hosts. Incredibly helpful and respectful of your privacy. The location is ideal for navigating all that downtown Portland has to offer. The unit is well equipped with all the conveniences of home. Their beautiful home is newly restored and spotless. A petite, full kitchen is stocked with all of the housewares necessary should you decide to hunker down but with all of the great restaurants and shopping nearby, you definitely will not want to. Either-way, it's always a nice option to have when traveling. The hospitality given here was the icing on the cake to a fantastic Maine vacation. Now we too ❤️ ME!

Lovely Property- great for a couple's getaway!

Lovely Property- great for a couple's getaway!

Sue and Barry were incredible hosts! The studio apartment had everything that we needed for a long weekend. They thought of everything- clean towels in the bathroom, a hair dryer, coffee for the coffee maker, plenty of maps and books on Portland, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the rates for the room rental were almost 1/2 the price of a hotel. You can't beat it! It was like a home away from home- and in walking distance to everything downtown Portland has to offer.

We absolutely loved it- not to mention, Sue and Barry were so helfpul, they offered to pick us up from the airport, and gave us a ride to Allagash brewing when we were perfectly fine taking a cab. They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed during our stay there. Their cat Sassyfrass is adorable too!

We will definitely be coming back! Thank you again!

Upon arrival, Sue and Barry graciously greeted us and provided information about Portland and places of interest. The beautiful apartment, decorated in true historical Maine style, provided everything we needed. Location is extremely convenient to shopping, restaurants, and daily excursions. Sue and Barry were great hosts and made us feel welcome. Would not hesitate to recommend "Portland on Avon".

Adorable, convenient, and very reasonably priced

  • 5 out of 5
The room was a gorgeous, meticulously kept victorian style studio apartment with a fully updated bathroom and kitchen area. The apartment was located on a quiet street very close to the downtown area as well as the park and Seadogs stadium. Very convenient. The price was also very reasonable especially compared to hotel rooms in the area. The owners lived onsite and were beyond nice and helpful and understanding of last minute changes to the reservation. Highly recommended
