We are looking for guests looking to enjoy the Peace and Quiet of the Great Northwoods in Lutsen. Guests who appreciate leaving Small Footprints... who prefer Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Paddling, Hiking and Nature Viewing on their vacations Up North. We want to rent to those people that will respect our cabin, and respect our neighbors. Our cabin has a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children, no exceptions for additional guests.
Our log cabin is a relaxing respite from the busy city life. There currently is no telephone, limited Verizon cell service and no internet. It is important also to realize that MYR is approx. 14 miles from Highway 61 and Downtown Lutsen, so plan to bring your groceries with you. It is approximately 30 miles from Grand Marais (there is a lovely back road way in to Grand Marais that is great for moose viewing, see map in cabin).
For winter vacations, AWD and 4WD vehicles are a must. We are an easy drive to Lutsen Mountains, weather depending about 25 minutes to the Ski Hill parking lot.
The cabin sleeps 4 adults comfortably, with a main level bedroom with a queen bed, and then an upstairs that has two open sleeping areas, one side has queen bed and the other has a full bed and a twin bed which works for 2 children. No more than 4 adults and two children in the cabin.
There is one main level bathroom, recently renovated with a new shower. All linens and towels are provided, please bring your own soaps and shampoos and hair dryer.
The kitchen is very functional, and Fiesta dishware for 6 is in the kitchen, along with most cooking supplies you will need. There is a coffee maker, microwave, small oven and 4 burner electric cooktop stove and refridgerator. Dining table seats 6.
There is a charcoal grill (Bring your own charcoal) and some outdoor furniture on the deck.
There is a flat screen tv with Directv and a built in DVD player in the TV.
Check in time is after 2:00 p.m. Check out time is before 11:00 a.m..
We want you to understand that Tait Lake is a very environmentally aware area, and those that live here prefer the quieter things in life such as canoeing and kayaking over jet skis and big motor boats. The lake itself is approximately 338 acres, and has a max depth of 15 ft. It has some walleye and northern, but the populations seem to be a bit down, so that we encourage fishing at one of the 10-20 lakes within a 5-15 minute drive. (See map in cabin). Tait is a great lake for kayaking and canoeing, it does have a lot of rocky structure that makes motor boating difficult. There is a dock on the property that is shared with the owners, you may see them stroll through to the dock on occasion. There is also a canoe and kayak launch on the property for launching your canoe or kayak. Surrounding Tait there are tons of old logging roads and trails that make great hiking, or enjoy a 10 minute drive to Eagle Mountain Trail head, the highest point in MN. (Gorgeous vistas after an hour hike to the top, if you go plan to take some drinking water with you!) The Brule Lake Entry Point to the BWCAW is less than 10 minutes from the cabin.
15 miles inland from Lake Superior up the Caribou Trail in Lutsen, owner will provide directions upon rental reservation.

We live about a mile from our cabin, we love it so much we too vacation at Myr!
Tony and Kim purchased this cabin in 2010
Myr offers peace and quiet, it feels remote while being accessible to Lutsen and Grand Marais within a half hour drive.
It's a little log cabin in the woods with very nice amenities, and since we take care of the cabin ourselves, it's always very clean!
My husband and I decided on the Myr as a last minute honeymoon destination (we originally were going to stay at a family members cabin in Western WI). We are very glad we did! The cabin is cozy and very clean. Great accommodations and warm water and nice shower. The bed was comfortable and the space is great. We wish there would have been a lake view, but quite honestly, everything else far outweighed a lake view and it was a very very short walk to the waterfront - the land that Myr sits on is very cool. I like the "lawn" area out front too - great for bocce or other lawn games. We hope to be back sooner rather than later. Thanks for a great stay!
Tony & Kim's cabin is beautiful! Clean and simple living spaces, comfortable beds/pillows (very important!), and a gorgeous setting. We had a fantastic time skiing the local trails. Can't wait to go back!
What a perfect winter getaway! We stayed a whole week and it was so relaxing! What a cute and cozy cabin! The second day we got about 12 inches of snow and it was just beautiful to be there in a snow storm! We took advantage of the snow and went snow shoeing a lot and skiing at Lutsen! The cabin was so clean and was just what we were looking for! We will be back!!
Our stay at MYR was a wonderful experience. It is the most well equipped cabin we have ever rented. Tony and Kim have thought of everything one might need for a pleasant get away. I really enjoyed browsing through the many books they have provided. Tait Lake is so peaceful and quiet. You feel as if you are miles away from anyone. It was fun to take a stroll along the lake and catch a glimpse of the rabbits or Bucky the beaver before he dove under the water. I can think of only one problem with MYR; it is so warm and welcoming you may not want to leave. When we first pulled into the drive and saw the cabin, my husband said "We are renting this again". Can't wait!
The cottage itself was perfection! Although, I have to say I was very disappointed that in wasn't direct waterfront. I had the idea that the kids were going to play in the water and swim, and play in the sand. But instead, my husband took the boat out into the lake, and threw the kids off, we have 3 small kids, therefore a lot of work. I must have misread the info about the cottage, because of the pics, I just assumed there was a direct waterfront. If would've known that, I wouldn't have booked Myr. I LOVED the cottage itself! It felt like home, like I had been there before, and that we belonged there. THank you for sharing the cottage. WE did have a good time.
Canoeing available on property or BWCAW Brule Lake Entry is approx 10 minute drive for day trips in to the Boundary Waters. Tons of lakes for good fishing within minutes from the cabin. Be aware of proper cleaning of boat to avoid spread of invasive species.
