Frogs and Jogs

  • 4 of 5

This townhouse was everything promised in its descriptions. Very nice, clean, well equipped with everything you need to call it home. The property is fronted against a network of paved jogging/bike trails around the perimeter of many acres of wetlands, filled with ducks, geese, all sorts of birds, and frogs. LOTS of frogs, sometimes producing a roar of singing at night. You don't hear them unless you open the well insulated windows to let the sounds in, though. Beware of trying that on weekdays, since about 5am the cars start roaring down a busy parkway too... so you'll wake up to motoring commuters rather than the frogs that lulled you to sleep! A minor thing... close the window if you don't like it. Fenced yard, dessert landscaping, close to some great eating places and a very cool Wine Bar. Steep stairway inside leads to the bedrooms. Not bad for healthy fit people, possibly a worry for young children or someone with limited mobility. Overall very clean and nice place to stay.

All the Comforts of Home

  • 5 of 5

We loved the walking trail wonderful nearby park to keep our active boys busy between runs up to Mt. Rose. The furnishings were great and all the details were well provided for. The bedrooms are spacious and the blackout blinds were a very thoughtful touch. The kitchen worked well for us for breakfasts and lunches and we enjoyed a number of dinners at the Twisted Fork around the corner.

Great place for anything you could need.

  • 5 of 5

This property provided everything we could hope for. It was exceptionally clean, great amenities, and perfect location for everything we wanted to do in Reno. The owner was very easy to work with and always made himself available to meet our needs. We will definitely be back. Joe

Very Nice and Convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week long stay. Everything was as stated and we were still pleasantly surprised by the views and the decor. We did not have any issues and the owner was still very attentive by inquiring to our needs. We walked the path almost every night and really enjoyed the crazy thunderstorm weather over the mountains. There really is a lot to do around Reno and during the down time the teenagers loved the pool table even though it did lean to one side a bit. They brought their playstation and enjoyed watching movies with the wifi. We enjoyed the Casinos, saw a couple of shows, went whitewater rafting (2 hours away), walked Hot August Nights, Toast of the Canyon train ride, BBQ'd with friends.

Kitchen was nicely setup. We brought K-Cups since we heard they had a machine and were very happy with it. They did have a variety but we were glad we brought our favorites. I would also have to disagree with a previous review stating the Master bath tub needed a curtain it was perfect as is and the windows have blinds that could be closed on all windows including the master bedroom.

We will definitely return.

Nice condo but loud location and AC was broken

  • 2 of 5

The condo is newer and tastefully/minimally decorated. The pool is just a short walk away and is very clean but there's hardly any shaded areas (only 1 that could be taken if it's a crowded day). However, we were disappointed in our stay because the AC broke and it was very hot/unpleasant there. It was 82 degrees most of the time indoors and at night we had to leave the windows open and the swamp bugs/animals were very loud! We contacted the owner and he sent a maintenance guy, not an AC repairman. The maintenance guy didn't seem to know what he was talking about either as he said the pipes were frozen because we put the settings too low. I was wondering how the pipes could possibly freeze in 90 degree weather so I asked a few people that know about AC systems and they said it's impossible. Not sure what happened to the AC but we never heard it go on at any temperature setting so I don't think us turning it down to 60 would make the pipes freeze. The owner also never followed up on the issue to see if it was resolved. When I emailed him after I got home, he never responded either. The condo is not exactly inexpensive either so I would hope that the owner would do everything possible to make us comfortable.

The master bedroom also needs a curtain above the bath tub and on the 2 windows by the bed. It gets so bright in that room at 5:45 am that it makes it hard to sleep past that time. Otherwise, we liked the place and it is conveniently located next to shopping/freeway.

Owner's Response: We had sent out our maintenance tech to assess the situation with the A/C after our guest had reported having trouble getting the unit to cool properly. Upon arrival he found the pipes to the compressor frozen solid and the A/C filter in need of replacement. Not sure where the unprofessional advice came from on this one but definitely yes, an A/C system can freeze up if there is obstructed air flow or if the system is low on freon. And setting the temperature to the lowest setting only makes the situation worse. After allowing the system to unfreeze our tech restarted the system and it was working fine when he left. We never received another call from the guest to let us know there was a continued issue with the system. Only an email after they had checked out. We pride ourselves on being very responsive to our guests needs and do all we can to insure our guests comfort. Sorry the sounds of nature are considered a "loud location" to this guest. Most of our guest have truly enjoyed the sounds of the frogs and crickets on a summers night. Many have even commented on enjoying this in their posted comments. Not sure why the guests did not use the window blinds that are on all the windows in the master bedroom and bath to darken those rooms. There are two settings on the blinds. Sheer and darkening. Perhaps they missed the later. Wish they would have called us on that one.
