Enjoy your stay in one of the most coveted beaches in Rhode Island! Bonnet Shores is so exclusive, only residents and their guests are allowed to use the beach. This light and bright studio apartment is attached to a bigger residence but you have your own private entrance bathroom and kitchen. Walking distance to the beach and the pond which has a dock where you can launch a kayak! This area is truly heaven for guests that enjoy a quiet, peaceful area for long walks and beautiful scenery but are close to restaurants and shopping. Jamestown and Newport are a short drive away for those of you who want to venture a little further on a day trip!
I reside in Bonnet full time since 2009.It is a vibrant community with a special pride in ownership. I love the diverse population and the tourists who come in July and August.I am a nurse, semi retired with children who live overseas,in California and New York City.My children return to Bonnet in the summer and this is the best beach in their mind.It is 'home.'
firstname.lastname@example.org purchased this apartment in 2013
well maintained. least expensive property available but amenities are the same as beachfront properties.Average hotel room with no amenities is $150-$200.
My family has been part of the Bonnet Shores Community for over
25 yrs. On Rt 1A which is walking distance, there is a market, a nail and massage salon,a driving range, a pastry shop and the best ice cream in the world 'Brickley's' run by a local family. When it is too hot to drive to the next town 10 min away-every thing you need is at the top of the hill.
My DH and I haven't had a real vacation since our honeymoon 3 years ago. Bonnet Shores was a dream come true.
To start with, the apartment was immaculate! The fully stocked kitchen including a double sink, dishwasher, and large fridge/freezer was a real plus, especially since we chose to save $$$ by eating in. There is a nice and cozy sitting area, tv, wifi...bed was super comfortable too...the bathroom was fully stocked with towels and toiletries as well. (There was a washer/dryer [that we didn't use] but for longer stays may be included in the deal.) Noise from the neighbors didn't bother us much since the sound machine covered it up.
It is literally a 5 minute walk to the beach, and less than 2 minutes to the "pond" (read: huge lake). We enjoyed kayaking while watching sunset over the pond. Bonnet Shores is a upper-class, pristine beach town. We loved the fact that by 9pm the neighborhood went to sleep. It was a kind of back to nature experience; going to bed early and waking up at dawn rested and refreshed. So as not to disturb the neighbors (by driving around) we took a walk at night to the "marina" and even spotted a shooting star on the way!
The best part of our stay was the day we took the ferry to Block Island. We biked around the Island - the views are totally awesome, Block Island is a fun touristy place to visit! We also explored the mansions in Newport, did the cliff walk and 10 mile drive.
Barbara was so pleasant to deal with. Right from the first phone call, I immediately felt comfortable and knew that she would be the perfect hostess. During our stay she was always available to answer our questions and give suggestions for great places to check out. Now, this part is not recommended, but in our haste to leave, we forgot our garment bags in the closet. Barbara was really gracious about it, and had our stuff shipped back to us via UPS the very next day! Thanks so much for a great stay!
My husband and I visited RI for our anniversary and stayed at this apartment. The apartment is very well kept and immaculate. Barbara has a lovely book outlining her suggestions for the area and some extra perks for your use as well (I won't list them specifically since she may change them as time goes on).
Amenities: The apartment is fully stocked and you really don't need to bring much. There's a full kitchen which came in handy for us to save money on breakfast and lunch. The bathroom is stocked with towels and shower supplies as well. The bed is very comfortable too!
Parking: You get your own off-street parking space.
Location: The neighborhood is so quiet and all of the houses are well kept. We loved walking around and viewing all of the beautiful homes on our way to the beach. You are about 25-30 mins away from Newport (traffic pending) and 15 mins from Jamestown. We were in Newport mostly and the drive isn't so bad. The traffic is Newport isn't great, but I think that's normal, especially for tourist season! Bonnett Shores beach was peaceful. Overall, it's a great location since it's less expensive than staying right in Newport and it's an easy drive to and from (if that's your destination).
Noise: The one and only reason for the 4-star review instead of 5 is that the walls are pretty thin between the two apartments. For most people, I don't think it would be a problem. For light sleepers like myself, you may hear some walking around and talking next door.
Owner: Barbara is a gem! She is very attentive in making sure your stay is wonderful and hopes you'll come back. She responded to me quickly and gave us a lot of information about the area. We had one complaint with noise from the neighbors while we were there and she handled it with such compassion and generosity.
Thank you for lending us your apartment for our vacation!
Enjoyed the easy walk to the Bonnet Shores private community beach with it's gentle waves. We also used the kayaks to paddle around in the neighboring salt pond. The apt. was very clean, comfortable, and well equipped...linens, pots/pans, dishes, wifi, etc. The owner provides lots of helpful suggestions for the area and is easily reachable to answer any questions. We had a great time and hated to leave!
The studio is updated, clean and has everything you need. The location is great - we walked to the beach with our baby - it's less than 1/2 mile. The bed is really comfortable, lots of pillows and comfy linens (feels like home). It was large enough to set up a pack and play and not trip over it. Nice kitchen - larger than I expected. Barbara was great too - she is so kind and helpful. The best part is the beach. It has waves - but not huge waves. Great beach for kids. I look forward to renting again.
This studio is a perfect place to relax and enjoy time in the scenic and incredible coast of Rhode Island. Everything is clean and crisp and the beach is right around the corner as described and is quinessential Rhode Island (aka awesome). All appliances and amenities worked well and a tv is there if wanted. The neighborhood is calm and quiet and provides great views of the bay and Newport and Jamestown Bridges. Barbara was there for anything that I needed and made sure that my trip and stay was problem free. Overall a place that will be remembered and I will definitely return!
