DREAMS DO COME TRUE !!!! It was always our goal to semi retire in this place we call PARADISE.
Monica Paiewonsky de Almanzar purchased this villa in 2010
This land was my grandfather's farm since 1937. My father, an agricultural engineer, came to live here as a newlywed in 1953. During my early years, my family lived here, where there were no roads, electricity or water supply. We came by boat from Puerto Plata or crossing the mountains by horses, a real experience for me and my sisters. After going back to Puerto Plata for school year, we always came back and spent all summers, and for special ocassions. My most wonderfull memories are of this place and I made my dream come true when it was the right time to build our house and live here year round with my husband, after my own children were grown up.
Very Short walk to a almost private beach, no crowds at any time, Fresh Seafood every day, Wonderful to relax, Very Tropical Landscape.
Need nightlife? Las Terrenas Village with its wonderfull restaurants, night clubs and bars.. 4 kms from Villa
We stayed for New Year's Eve with all the family. Enjoyed the wonderful beach and the wonderful place.
Muy agradecidos del personal en la Villa, sobretodo Yani.
Excelente Villa Mo.
We began our trip by learning... no rental car was there which we had two confirmation emails for. Suggest planning to just skip driving in this country. Monica was helpful when we had to drop our bags off since we had a change of initial plans. Right off the start her kindness helped to ease the hearts of us weary travelers. We had a great time learning more about the area, Samana is a beautiful city, the private island we took a boat for lunch was worth it, the four wheelers to see the coffee bean farm, tobacco farm, etc. was such a memorable part of our trip. We also had a nice fire on the beach one evening. Watching the kite surfers on the beach in the afternoon was relaxing -- what a workout that appears to be. From Yanni cooking to Monica's help with the market, places to go, setting up taxi cabs, etc. we were more than taken care of. The Dominican Breakfast we had -- was amazing and we are still trying to make it back home. Great stay for the time we were here! Walk to town on the beach....see the area... take it all in... and enjoy it!
This year, our family decided to "skip" Christmas and opted for a week in the Dominican Republic. Villa Mo was a GREAT choice. From the minute we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Monica and Yanni and made to feel like special guests. The fully equipped villa is lovely and a beautiful beach is just steps away. The meals that Yanni prepared for us were amazing and we never had leftovers! Monica was so helpful providing guidance and ideas for activities and sites in the area for us to see.
The day we left, I actually cried- I did not want to leave. I felt so relaxed and happy during our stay and I give 100% credit to Monica for making our "Skip Christmas" vacation a holiday to remember. I can't wait to come back and make this an annual trip for our family. Thank you Monica and Yanni for a truly memorable and wonderful vacation.
Planeamos volver pronto.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Mo recently and shared the lovely home with our niece and her husband. Overall it was an enjoyable stay, although my husband was quite ill and unable to fully appreciate the beauty of the place. Had we been there strictly to relax and enjoy the beach, it would have been idyllic; however, we were there for a wedding, which required dressing formal and I found the comfort challenging within our bedroom. The house is clean and spacious, and the young lady who attended us in the kitchen was most pleasing and quite a pleasure to have around. We found the air conditioning in the bedroom not as cool as we would have liked, especially since to turn it on, you have to close the woonden blinds, which in turn blocks out all natural light. The lighting within the room was very dim as was the lack of comfort for a woman to get ready (apply makeup) without a little desk or chair to sit in (had to do it inside the closet). There could be room for improvement in this specific area. The owner is charming, helpful and quite service-oriented. It is definitely a place to recommend and go back to enjoy its natural, rustic charm without the hustle of a formal event. Would love to go back! :)
I love my family and we love spending time together but I work and everyone has their own lives to live, so, once a year I make it a point to get together with all of them and this time was at Villa Mo....what a wonderfull place!!
I felt everything was just perfect, the house is so cute, the yard is perfect for my grandchildren to run around, play ball or play with their water toys. The food is very good and you can trust what you are eating because Yany, the maid, is just what you need to complete a great vacation. The Portillo beach is the best of the best for my family because kids can go in without being scared of high waves or the water being too deep...and, the sun...oh, the sun is great, but, using sunscreen is a must.
A perfect day is going for a walk when you wake up (it is a must to use a good insect repelent) and maybe swimming a bit too, then go back to the house and have a Dominican breakfast , then take a "breakfast nap" and then go to the beach with a Presidente beer and some snacks and stay there doing nothing or reading or swimming or kite surfing if you dare or....just being on vacations!! Then going back to the house and going into the little pool will freshen up your body and after a while you can have a nice dinner or go out to Terrenas to one of the many good small restaurants you can find (if you like disco dancing, you'll find that too). Or, if you like, talk to Monica, the owner, and tell her you would like to eat marshmallows in a bonfire at night and she can arrange it too.
I truly appreciate Monica and Cuqui's hospitality, their help in making our stay at Villa Mo and unforgettable one was a complete success!!
We just returned home from our stay at Villa Mo- and I have a serious case of the post vacation blues. Normally I am a bit happy to be home and get back to life, but not this time. I could have stayed at Villa Mo forever!
My family stayed for a week with some friends of ours. We have two young children, as do they. Our stay in the house was as relaxing and luxurious as is possible with 4 young kids. Monica was a superb host. She went above and beyond for us both before and during our stay. She took care of our car rental, airport pick ups and even did some grocery shopping for us before we arrived. Amazing! Yanni (the housekeeper/cook) is a saint. She cooked INCREDIBLE food for us, cleaned up after us, took us shopping at the fruit market, supermarket and fish market and even humored our pathetic attempts to channel our high school spanish classes. I have never experienced a vacation with a housekeeper/cook. I wasn't sure how it would work. But now that I have experienced it I am not sure there is any going back! She made it so I could truly spend time with my family on my family vacation (and not just in the kitchen and walking around cleaning up after the kids).
The house is just beautiful. Fresh air, ocean sounds and sun streaming in from every corner. The outdoor living room was by far my favorite room in the house.
The pool was perfect for the kids (and for us!) and the grassy pasture surrounding the house was both beautiful to look out upon and fun for early evening soccer games with the kids. The beach was stunning. The ocean clear and calm and perfect for swimming.
Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Villa Mo. We cannot stop talking about it and raving about it to all of our friends. We cannot wait to go back next year, and the year after that and the year after that.....
