Appalachia at its best. A mountain cabin re-created within the basement (first floor, ground level) of my home for your pleasure. Private entrance(s), covered deck/patio, open deck, great view, very private setting.
The location has an East-West orientation, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite beverage.
The cabin is fully self contained. It has its own kitchen, bath with shower (no tub), and a small living/dining area. One bedroom with a king size bed.
Centrally located between I-40 and I-26, on Busbee Mountain, the property borders the Biltmore Estate and blends in with the Blue Ridge Parkway at an elevation of 3,346 feet.
Well behaved pets are more than welcome!
I have had the cabin off line since August making repairs and doing some remodel. The cabin is open for business as of December 10, 2014. Updated photos have been added.

I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo.
I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental.
I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.
George Stanley purchased this apartment in 2007
I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.
Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees.
At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.
We booked this cabin for a short getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We were blown away with the breathtaking views....the sunrise is not to be missed!! The cabin is wonderful and the porch is even better! We had our dogs with us, and they were able to roam free and explore the land. George is full of knowledge and helpful hints and so welcoming! We will absolutely be back....maybe a fall visit next time. Thanks again, George!!
We had an incredible 3 days staying in Asheville! George was amazing - friendly, helpful, welcoming, it was like catching up with an old friend. The cabin was perfect, exactly as it looks in the pictures, very comfortable. The view is ridiculously gorgeous, unlike anything I've seen. The road up to the house was a little unnerving for me, though, because of how steep, narrow and winding it was. I got used to it by the time we left but my tiny hybrid wasn't a huge fan. We can't wait to stay here again!
We came to George's cabin for a weekend away. We got just that. The cabin is secluded at the top of a mountain with an INCREDIBLE view. We were able to spend the time together that we needed. George was very laid-back, accomodating, and made sure we had everything that we needed.
The cabin is also a short drive away from Asheville so if you're looking for a nice dinner, a night out in downtown, etc., this cabin makes that possible. It is also only a short distance from the Biltmore, the NC Arboretum, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The next time I return to Asheville, I will be back!
We came to visit the Asheville area for a hiking trip with a little R&R in between. The cabin was a great way for an authentic taste of the mountains while still allowing reasonable proximity to Asheville and major landmarks. George was very friendly and open to give assistance should we need it but allowed us the space and peace to make us feel like we were together just the two of us for miles around. All the amenities and appliances were in good order and well stocked. The views of course were spectacular and worth the drive up the mountain.
What a gem. We arrived to the cabin-apartment to a spectacular view across the mountains. George, the owner, immediately welcomed us to the property and made us feel welcome. The inside of the cabin is so cozy with the fireplace and just the right size for two. The cabin is designed so you have a beautiful view from each room. And the sunrises there are amazing! It is also very close to downtown Asheville so you can enjoy some of the local breweries or check out the scenery on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have already discussed coming back for another visit.
A beautiful, quiet and quaint cabin-like apartment with great views and a relaxing atmosphere. Up in the mountains but still close enough to enjoy Asheville. Our host was gracious and available. We plan to be back when the weather is warmer!
