My husband and I are married 35 years, we grew up in Rockville Centre, Long Island and went to school there, lived in Long Beach for about 10 years and move to Suffolk County 25 years ago. I worked in Oceanside as a hairdresser for nearly 30 years and we owned a beautiful litlle hair salon, Shekinah Hair Salon in Oceanside. My husband worked for Mercedes Benz in RVC and Westbury Jeep before going into the ministry. We have 8 children, his, hers, ours and everyone elses. We have 15 grand children, four of which are great grand children.
We are both in the ministry, my husband is an Assistant Pastor of a church in Suffolk County and Executive Director of a coalition to protect women, children and families in the sexualized culture. I assist him in this great work and still work as a hairdresser partime to a very private clientele.
My husband bought this house before we married as an investment and rented it our for 5 years until we moved into it after getting married. I always loved Long Beach and lived there since I left home and went on my own.
I love the beach, the board walk, the smell of the air at night, the stars in the sky over the water and the summer breeze of the ocean.
My husband never like the area so when the opportunity came we built a house in Suffolk with alot of property a pool trees and accross from a farm.
We rented our beachhouse long term and had terrible experience with tenants for years. Then came along Super Storm Sandy and our little home nearly blew away.
Well, between the tenant and Sandy we decided to not rent long term any more. We repaired the house, painted and furnished it quickly and decided to use it for family, friends and ministry.
That is what we were doing with some success, then we were introduced to Homeaway and we thought we would open up our little beach house to those that would like to get away for short time.
This house was my first house and its like a life size doll house to me. Its cozy and comfortable and different than the very hi-tech hotels or houses with great rooms and cathedral ceilings.
Sunny days at the beach, power walking or bicycling on the board walk and strolls on the beach on a warm summer night with a majestic star studded sky, you cant beat it!
