I was traveling with my parents and my in-laws on this trip. The description and the photos of the listing were pretty accurate. The layout of the house was nice and spacious. The stairs going up to the apartment were wide enough and manageable (even for the seniors in our group). Staying at this house gave us a better experience of togetherness than if we were staying at a hotel. We felt like we were at home with all the amenities that were provided in the house. The kitchen had just about everything we needed. The washer and dryer inside the unit was a huge plus. The garage was definitely a good thing to have in that neighborhood because it was very difficult to find street parking. There is street cleaning on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. We did end up having to park on the street in front of the house a few times. Joy, the owner was kind enough to send me a reminder text message about the street cleaning the night before, which saved me from getting a ticket.
The only thing keeping me from giving my review 5-stars is that we experienced some inconvenience with the parking. There were contractors working on widening the garage to make it easier to park for future renters. We were not able to park inside the garage for a couple of nights and during the day time while the contractors were doing work. Joy was accommodating and did provide extra change for the meters and alternate means of parking for us, one street over from the house. However, it was still an inconvenience to us. We were able to park on the street blocking the driveway and part of the sidewalk, but sometimes the car that was parked behind us made it difficult for us to fit within the tight space on the street in front of the driveway. Part of the reason we chose this house was because it had garage parking. I just wished that the garage work by the contractors could have been done during the weeks when no one was renting the unit and not during the days while we were there.
Other than the parking situation, we enjoyed our stay at this house. The property was clean and well-maintained. We would consider renting this house again in the future and we would recommend this property to others.
The condo is very nicely appointed. The unit was recently remodeled with newer furniture. Overall my family had a great time at Joy's condo. She was very easy to deal with and responded to all of my emails. Check in and out was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again if I visit SF.
We had a great stay. Our party (2 adults and 5 children of 24,21,19,17 and 7) felt very comfortable with all the amenities. Even the garage! We had a huge car (Grand Caravan) and we manage to enter into it.
Thanks Joy for welcoming us into your home and for the the bottle of wine you left for us!
A very well-maintained and spacious apartment, even for 8 people! The location is close to many shops and markets and the accommodations are comfortable and clean.
One thing to note:
Remember to turn on the heat by plugging in the furnace located near the kitchen!
A pleasant and well equipped home. There was even a bottle of wine to welcome us. The only problem we had was with the parking -- too narrow and there was a steep slope. Fortunately we were able to park on the street in front of the house.
This is an extremely spacious, nicely renovated condo. What you see in the photographs is exactly what you get. It's clean, well maintained, and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, bowls, utensils, etc. The welcoming bottle of wine and free Wi-Fi were a nice touch. And Joy was very responsive via email.
One disappointment for us was the garage. If you plan to use it, I would recommend getting a car that is small-ish but has extra clearance under it, such as a small SUV or -- based upon other renter reviews -- a mini van. The driveway entrance (between the sidewalk and garage) is very short and elevated -- though it's surely considered "flat" by San Francisco standards :-). With the front tires of our rental car (Nissan Altima sedan) only a few inches into the garage door, the entire car bottomed-out on the concrete. Not only would the car not go any further INTO the garage, but it also resisted backing OUT. Luckily there was ultimately no major damage to the car. We used street parking for our entire stay, even though garage access was one of the main factors in choosing this condo. And finding an available spot on the street was not as easy as some other reviewers seemed to indicate. We had to drive around various blocks until we came upon another car pulling out. We did generally find a spot within a couple of blocks of the condo.
