About this property

This spacious house is 45 years old. Located in a quiet neighborhood, away from tourist resorts, 110 meters above sea level. It's a 15 minute walk to the center of Funchal and a 17 minute drive from the airport. A perfect location from which to explore the island as it's very central to go either east or west, as well as north. The city is a monument in itself. There are many things you can see and do in Funchal, like visiting the market, the Madeira wine museum, taking a boat trip to watch dolphins and whales, taking a cable car to the gardens of Monte, going on levada walks, etc. From the front side of the house you have views over the mountains and from the backside views over the ocean and the center of Funchal. This property is shared. You will have one spacious bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom, and a balcony for yourself. The kitchen and the back yard are shared spaces. Free Wi-Fi internet available. There is a washing machine and laundry lines. All the windows in this house have mosquito screens.

Spacious, comfortable home from home

As others have said, this house is spacious, clean and comfortable for a long stay. For holiday-makers not wishing to risk driving on Madeira's roads, the house is very convenient for central Funchal. It is an easy, if steep, walk down to the Mercado and the excellent city bus service offers a choice of 3 buses back up the hill. After a day's sight-seeing the back garden is a peaceful haven for enjoying the lovely view.

Great place

Another great stay in this property,bus stop close to house,so easy to get into and back from Funchal.Aurelio and Sietske are a lovely couple and they could not be more helpful if you need help decicing which places you want to visit.The house has everything required for cooking drinking etc.Proper home from home,I'll be back, Jim, Littleborough

'A house with a view"

The first thing to say, when we arrived was the warm welcome we received from Aurelio and Sietske. We had the full rundown on how everything worked. Seiske's welcome folder was brimming with useful information and we often referred to it. The house was clean and very spacious, especially for the 2 of us. We decided on the bedroom with a view of Funchal Harbour, because it had a balcony. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We agree with other guests comments regarding the dogs. As we are ourselves owners of a holiday home in Spain, we would recommend the upgrading of the TV to meet today's entertainment criteria, because you have excellent internet service. We had a similar situation in Spain and we upgraded the TV and now enjoy positive feedback from guests. We would suggest bringing binoculars to view the cruise ships coming into port on a regular basis and the many beautiful views across the island. We rented a car for 3 weeks of our holiday this allowed us to see the beauty of the island. Walking down to Funchal took 20mins.The number 26 bus was ideal for the return trip, also Number 19 Bus is only a 5 minute walk to the top of the road. We also recommend the bar just down the road from the house, and their 'picador' dish very reasonably priced and friendly. Our 5 week stay was very relaxing.

The view says it all

The view from the patio is just magical.The town of Funchal is so laid back you just get carried away with it all,so many great restaunts,easy and extremely varied shopping great trips out,never stuck for something to do. Sietske's property is amazing,so much room,great sunbathing,all the equipment you could wish for if you decide to eat in,and great information from the owner.One thing is sure we will be back next year just as soon as we can book flights.See you then Sietske. The climate is pleasant all year round and the sun shines more often than in other parts of the island.

What makes this property unique

It's well located, away from the tourist area, on a hill overlooking Funchal and the ocean from the back yard and mountains from your bedroom. In this location it feels more like living in a quiet town rather than in a city and yet you are in walking distance to the center of town.
The backyard is ideal for sun bathing because it's private. It's also a great place to sit or have a meal outside all year round. You can drink coffee, and enjoy the wonderful views.
