This cottage was built in the 60's, has been renovated, is very cute and clean. Has an outdoor shower plus an indoor shower.
This place is awesome! If you like to ride bikes, take walks on the beach, look for sea glass, bird watch, or just sit on the screen porch and read a boat, this place is for you. If you love to fish, we catch rock fish right off the pier. Also catch flounder, spot, croaker and tons of other salt water fish.
Where to Put in a Boat:
Our boat lift is off-limits due to liability reasons. If you tie your boat off to the pier, the water will push your boat up against the pier and will damage your boat. You can anker your boat in the water and walk out to it.
The closest place to put in a boat is Cockrells Marina. 309 Railway Drive, Heathsville, Va 22473, 804-453-3560. It is located off Hacks Neck Road at Railway Dr and Wicomico Pt. Rd. I think it costs $10.00 to put in a boat and $10.00 to take out a boat. It will take you out through Smith Point Marina. Smith Pt Marina is about a 20 min. boat ride to our cottage. The water is rough in the careful a small boat would be dangerous from Smith Pt. to our cottage. Smith Point Marina, 989 Smith Point, Reedville, Va 22539, 804-453-4077.
If you would like to charter a fishing trip while at the cottage, call Capt. Ryan Rogers, 804-453-5812 or 804-580-0245, captryan71@
You do not need a fishing license to fish off the pier. The pier is private property. You will need a saltwater fishing license if you fish in a boat. You can purchase a license at Wal-mart, Bass Pro Shops, Green Top Sporting Goods.
Take a family outing to Tangier Island for the day, 804-453-2628, 468 Buzzard Point Rd, Reedville, Va 22539.
Food Lion is 20-25 mins from the cottage. On the way to the cottage from Richmond it will be on your right, just as you are leaving Heathsville. That is the only full size grocery near you. Little River Market, 804-453-6076, 16335 Northumberland Hwy, Burgess, Va 22432, is a nice small grocery store, it is further up 360E past where you would turn onto Hacks Neck Rd to go to the cottage. If you are coming from the cottage take a left onto 360E and the Little River Market it is about 5 mins up the road on the left. A short cut from Hacksneck to 360E if you are heading to Little River Market or Reedville, from the cottage while you are driving on Hacks Neck Rd, take a left on Folly Road, follow Folly til it intersections w/ 360E. Take a left onto 360E. Just a quick short cut. P.S. If you have to make a quick trip to Food Lion during the week, don’t forgot to take the trash w/ you b/c the Northumberland Landfill is on the way to Food Lion on the right.
Visit Secondhand Rose, 804-580-2084, 1428 Hull Neck Road, Edwardsville, Va. Just 15 minutes from the cottage. Go to Hacks Neck Rd, take a right onto Folly Rd, at the end of Folly take a right onto Hull Neck Road, Secondhand Rose shop will be about a mile or so on your right.
Use our 3 adult bikes in the toolshed and take a ride to the Sunny Bank Ferry. Take a right onto Lighthouse Rd, Rt 644 from Devils Wood Yard Rd. Follow Lighthouse Rd to the end, you will see Sunny Bank Ferry straight ahead.

My husband and I purchased this cottage in 1999. We wanted a place close to Richmond where we could spend fun family time cooking out, fishing, swimming in the bay. This cottage has been all of that and more. Looking out on a huge backyard with grass, trees and a white sandy beach, it is awesome!
Rangeley Thornton purchased this cottage in 1999
The cottage rests on an acre lot, on a private street at the end of a cul de sac. Great street for riding bikes. We have 3 adult bikes in the toolshed for you to use.
We built a fishing pier in 2005 with lights and a fish cleaning station. It also has a lower level to put in crab pots. The pots are located behind our toolshed. We have a crab cooking pot in the cottage. Children love to jump off the lower level into the bay and swim back to shore.
The cottage was exactly as described; neat, clean, and inviting. The dock was great for fishing and exploring everything the bay had to offer. We also really found the book of suggestions on things to do and places to eat in the area to be very helpful and also in locating important places like the grocery store, etc. And even though we did have to clean the cottage ourselves, it really didn't take that long and the owners had everything you need in order to clean. We would definteley stay here again and really enjoyed the area!
We loved the location of this vacation home. It was exactly what we expected, our own private beach and pier. The cottage was was no frills, simple and basic. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this is not the beach house for you. We had a wonderful time fishing and crabbing off the pier. Unfortunately, the jellyfish showed up and kept us out of the water a couple of days but that is probably because the water temperature was so warm. The owners called several times before our trip to answer our questions. We would definitely stay again!
Just want to thank the owners for letting us stay in there cottage for a weekend to relax and fish.if your looking somthing peaceful and to relax and enjoy the outdoors then this is the place.nothing fancy here .to us its like camping in a cabin.we wanted to reserve again but looks pretty booked..thanks again
