Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday bungalow in Bloomington - The Heartland Roots Bungalow
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4
This comfy, cozy bungalow is the perfect home away from home while enjoying all Indiana University and Bloomington has to offer. It comfortably fits two, is centrally located on a quiet street, minutes away from IU and downtown, and just a 5 minute walk from the infamous B-Line trail.
My home is inviting, cheerful, and tranquil. The backyard is private and spacious, and the front porch invites you to simply relax and wave hello to friendly neighbors. Having 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, it is the perfect space for 2 people, whether sharing a room or needing two separate sleeping spaces. There is sufficient space for four people, as both beds (1 is a pull out couch, with a super comfortable egg crate and feather bed!) are queen size.
The kitchen just went under an entire gutting and complete renovation this Spring, and is fully stocked with all your cooking needs.
The house is warmly decorated with exquisite artwork from all around the globe and there is an extensive book selection for your use while staying at the house.
Guests have access to the entire house. Included is free WIFI, TV (Netflix), Blue-Ray DVD player, and a washer and dryer.
I am always available via phone and email, and I have a local property manager who can assist you with any of your needs. I rent the entire house when I am away for work. I do not rent it when I am home.
This neighborhood is quiet, serene, and friendly. It is conveniently located to downtown Bloomington and Indiana University. Most of the houses were built from the 1920's to the 1940's, so there is that extraordinary feeling of history. Several books have been written about Bloomington and I.U. during those booming times, and it is easy to trace the McDoel Gardens Neighborhood in several of these publications.
My house is also a short 5 minute walk to the Bloomington infamous B-Line Trail! http://www.americantrails.org/nationalrecreationtrails/trailNRT/B-Line-Trail-Bloomington-IN.html
This trail is perfect for easily accessing the urban part of Bloomington, as well as the rural. Take a 20 minute stroll to our vibrant downtown to enjoy fine eateries, plays/musicals, shops, museums, and parks. Walk in the other direction (southbound) and enjoy the quiet of Monroe County, woods full of Sycamore, Oak, Walnut, Elm and Dogwood trees.
To access the B-Line trail from my house:
1. Depart out the front door and turn left
2. Cross Rogers Street, staying on Allen Street
3. Go left on Madison Street
4. Go right on Dodds Street
5. You will see the Morton Street sign, and there is the B-Line Trail!
The Bloomington Transit bus system is an easy and convenient way to get around town. The bus stop is just a 30 second walk from my house!
Parking your vehicle is included as well, where you can choose from either parking in my 1-car driveway off the backyard, or on Allen Street, directly in front of the house.
Getting to/from the Indianapolis International airport is easy, and takes about 1 hour. http://www.indianapolisairport.com/. There is a convenient shuttle system if you are without a car http://www.soashuttle.com/
Depending on the particular interests and needs of the guest, I am flexible and I welcome communication.
Please observe the evening quiet in the neighborhood by not causing any noise that might disturb neighbors.
NO SMOKING inside the house.
- Long-term Renters Welcome
- non smoking only
- not suitable for children
- pets not allowed
- wheelchair inaccessible
About Amy Brummit
I am a white water rafting, whale loving, theatre artist and teacher who travels the world to teach young minds, guide outdoor adventures, and protect marine endangered species!
I grew up in Bloomington and graduated from IU, and after spending 20 years away, returned in 2012 to reconnect with my roots.
The past 2 years, I have mainly been doing mitigation work for Marine Endangered Species, primarily whales and sea turtles. I am an avid outdoors enthusiast, evident by my experience as a white water rafting guide, a sea kayaking guide and US Coast Guard civilian boat captain.
I am currently living and teaching in Asuncion, Paraguay, South America
I rent my home when I am away for work, whether that is living/working on ships, teaching in private international schools, or guiding an outdoor adventure. I have a local property manager who is available to assist you at any time.
I welcome you to my home, and am happy to answer any questions about restaurants, the arts, IU, and the greater Bloomington area.
