I (Barbara) was born and grew up in beautiful Australia. After finishing university, I travelled europe with a friend and then decided to visit my family house in Umbria. I loved it so much that my family and I decided to lovingly restore it and turn it into guest apartments for everyone to enjoy. Durimg this prosess, I fell in love with a wonderful Italian man. We now have two children and run this family business all together. We live on the property.
My parents bought this property many years ago because my paternal grandmother was born in Umbria. My father wanted us to learn about his background. As a child, I would often come and visit Italy during the Christmas holidays with my family. I think that is why I feel so at home living here now.
This property in very centrally located thus ideal for travellers. Many popular, artistic towns surround it. For example; Siena, Florence, Assisi, Perugia, Pienza, Montepulciano, Cortona (Under the Tuscan Sun) Gubbio just to name a few!
I love this farmhouse because it has a lot of history. I've had several Italians visit the farmhouse out of curiousity because they themselves once lived in it many years ago or they came for the local town gatherings, enjoying community dinners and dancing. It was built around the 1800's (we found a roof tile dated 1774) and we made sure to maintain all the original features while restoring it. Terracotta floors, exposed timber beams, and wood-burning fireplaces and the old, handmade, tuscan bricks make this house special. We also renovated an old pig sty and barn into 3 gorgeous, self-contained apartments which are located on the same site. The garden around the farmhouse and swimming pool complete the property.
