The Norway Chalet is an adorable, very comfortable 3 bed, 2 bath home near Mt. Hood. It's designed for families and we've added lots of amenities that make our home a delightful stay.
When you arrive, you will be greeted with a Welcome Basket; wine, coffee, and candy. The kids will love the upstairs bunk room--with a full/twin bunk and a special 'cubby' bed, you can sleep up to 4 kids here in comfort. They also have an XBox, games, movies, cable TV and bean bags to chill out in.
The other upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and overlooks the backyard hot-tub and patio. In between the two rooms is a full bath with tub.
The living room is very cozy with winter decor and a very effective gas fireplace that will warm up the whole house in less than 30 minutes. It's to easy to curl up on the couch and relax by the fire while reading one of the many books/magazines at the chalet, pick a movie out of our collection, or watch cable TV! We have a blue-tooth sound bar so you can listen to your music on your smart device. We also have wireless access, so bring your smartphone or your computer and you will be connected.
Unlike many rental homes, our kitchen is equipped with everything you need, including foil, baggies, typical spices, and all the other things you're likely to forget when packing your food. We consistently get good comments about remembering the details!
The lower level bedroom, has a queen bed, and is decorated with white water rafting pictures--something you'd love to try in the summer months. You can dim the bedside lights, curl up and watch TV or a movie in bed.
There is a full bathroom (with shower stall) directly across from the bedroom.
Out the back door is a private hot tub suitable for 4-6 people. There is also a Gas BBQ, and picnic table for a relaxing home-cooked meal.
Behind the chalet is a small creek that you can hear--what a relaxing sound. With a little walk, you can go down and see it. Or if you'd rather walk down to the Sandy river, it's only 5 minutes away as well.
The Norway Chalet is truly a labor of love. Our family has owned it for over 5 years and after complete renovation has made it a very relaxing, well equipped home that you will really enjoy. We consistently get good reviews from our visitors who love the decor and the cozy feeling. In the Summer of 2012 we also added a beach cottage to our rental properties. You can plan your own 'Hood to Coast' trip! Please check out our Norway Cottage listing: http://www.vrbo.com/418481
You will not be disappointed--this is not a typical bland, boring rental home.
We are apprx. 16 miles to Government Camp and 18 miles to Sandy Oregon. There is a full grocery store, gas station and a few shops about 3 miles away. The local tavern, Brightwood Inn, serves decent food and drinks at very reasonable prices, and there is a quick market about a mile away. There is simply too many activities to list and we're a short trip to everything the Mt. Hood area has to offer. See the map for more details.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Enjoyed our time away with our kids, aunt & uncle, & grandparents. Your lovely cabin had something for everyone and we could not stop talking about the well planned décor. We'll be telling friends and family about this great place and we look forward to coming back ourselves.
Both my husband and I work in the corporate world, but we really love the outdoors, especially winter sports.
We are both Oregonians, and have lived mostly in the Portland metro area. We currently live in a log home on 5 acres West of Portland.
We have a blended family of 5 children ages 17-23 so are always busy with their activities. We especially enjoy time up at the mountain when they are home from college.
The Norway Chalet is a great place for us to relax and enjoy our winter and summer activities. The picture of us skiing at Timberline in the winter of 2010.
With our love of the outdoors, we wanted a good home base for winter activities; snow-shoeing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, skiing, and the community is situated along the Sandy River for summer walks, dips in the community pool and a B-Ball game too.
Since we live West of Portland, the location is perfect for us.
Sandy River, Hot Tub in back yard, creek behind the house, Community pool, B-Ball, lodge, tennis court, and playground in the summer. We are often visited by the local neighborhood peacocks!
