We bought our land on the island in 1986 when we moved to Winthrop, Maine after my ex husband left the Navy. During the ensuing years we slowly built our cabin...delayed gratification at its finest! It was a project filled with good times, friends, picnics, campfire, swimming and memories too numerous to mention. Now, as a grandparent I see my dreams come true as our family enjoys time off the grid and on the lake. I am just delighted to be able to share it with other families to make their memories too.
We loved to camp and tented here for a number of years before we made the decision to build. It is a beautiful piece of land on a lovely lake, and we really enjoy the fact that it is on an island. I have found it it to be the best thing we ever did!
Island location....need we say more? It is in many ways an adventure, but a comfortable one. Canoeing across the water in all weather loaded with groceries and clothes for the week creates the best separation from 'real life' and time to just relax, unless of course, I am kayaking, swimming, sailing....
