About Heather Pitschka

Steve and I (Heather) have lived in Duluth for the past 17 and 12 years respectively. We call it home now and have a tough time seeing ourselves living elsewhere. Lake Superior has a draw and we've been mesmerized since moving here. We both love the water and spend a significant amount of our free time surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Both of us have caught a muskie out of our canoe a stone's throw away from our house on Minnesota Point. We've also been able to surf every month of the year! Although I'd recommend a wet suit Fall/Winter/Spring. We love this area and always look forward to coming home when we've gone on vacation

Why Heather Pitschka chose Duluth

Actually the vacation home is Steve's first home. He spent much of his free time repairing/refinishing. It is furnished with antiques handed down in our family that Steve refinished. We were unable to part with it when we moved to our new home less than a mile away so we turned it into a vacation rental home in 2010.

What makes this cottage unique

You'll have direct access to the largest freshwater lake in the WORLD (Lake Baikal in Russia is largest by volume, Lake Superior is largest by surface area)!

You are less than one mile away for the farthest inland port in the world.

You are less than one mile away from one of the largest lift bridges in the United States. There you can view Ocean and Great Lake ships from less than 100 feet as they enter and leave the port.

Minnesota Point is surrounded by water and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the only point of access by land. You are essentially on a island!

Even though you are less than one mile away from downtown Duluth you'll feel safe in your neighborhood. Steve lived in this house for several years and feels that it is safe (never locked his doors) with great neighbors (no turnover for at least 10 years). It is a great relaxing environment which we hope the claw foot tub and sauna promote.

If you want shopping, coffee, antiques they are less than 1 mile down the road over the Aerial Lift Bridge. You can also make the walk on sandy beach.

Fantastic Home, Location, and Owners

  • 5 out of 5
If travel plans take you to Duluth, you'll want to stay at Beach House 3. It's within walking distance to all Canal Park attractions, located on the beach, clean as a whistle, and designed to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. Everything needed to operate on vacation is supplied (and then some!). The owners truly care about their renters and will go out of their way to ensure things are done right. Their availability and willingness to communicate will ensure an enjoyable stay for sure. We also loved the fact the house has been modernized but not at the expensive of its historic character. You'll appreciate that!

Charming!

  • 5 out of 5
You can't go wrong with the location: just over the dunes to the beach, just down the street from Canal Park. The house is adorable, with fun gathering spaces (board games! ping pong! sauna!) and plenty of bedrooms. Heather and Steve offer top notch customer service and answered our questions quickly - even offered to stop by when we couldn't find something. Wow! We'll definitely be back!

Great for family get-together

  • 5 out of 5
Three generations stayed comfortably in this Park Point location. The house is thoughtfully furnished throughout -- the little grandsons loved playing foosball and climbing the sand dunes, adults appreciated the fireplace, sauna and comfy furnishings. We'll be back!

100% Pleased!

  • 5 out of 5
We recently rented this beach house while attending our sons graduation. We came with 6 guests and each one had plenty of space. The house is adorable and very well maintained! The kids loved the ping pong table and game table in the basement. The most noteworthy thing in my book was how immaculately clean the home was. I am very picky about this and it was A+. Heather and Steve responded quickly to us via email, they were great. I highly recommend this home if your visiting Duluth!

Beach House

  • 5 out of 5
We had 6 adults and two children stay at this home and it was plenty of room for us all. We enjoyed it so much. The house is clean and well decorated. All the dishes and pots and pans are top of the line. We were very impressed and would stay again in a heart beat. We walked to canal park and enjoyed walking on the beach. We stayed in April and are looking forward to trying it out in the summer. The boys did get a little loud playing pin pong downstairs and it was nice to have it separated from the sleeping quarters. Really enjoyed the stay.
