Poorly Managed, Nothing Worked, Awful Experience
We booked this villa for a trip away in August 2014 for a group of 7 people.
The booking agreement we had was that we would receive:
- Transfers from/to airport Punta Cana
- Golf car for entire stay
- A Hyundai Starex van for entire stay
Upon arrival at the airport, we were greeted by the caretaker/driver; however his vehicle was not large enough to accommodate us plus our luggage.
- So we had to pay for an extra taxi to take half of our party and their bags to the villa.
When we arrived at the villa we discovered that:
- Some of the sheets were stained
- The washing machine did not work
- The dish washer was faulty
- There was a bad smell of stagnant water in the laundry room
- The fridge and freezer was not working
- The kitchen sink basin was leaking
- The coffee table next to the TV was broken
- The doors leading to the pool did not close or lock, a huge security risk for our valuables and safety
- No ‘Hyundai Starex’ van was present
Also
- We were also told that we would have to pay utility rates for the duration of our stay! This was never mentioned in the booking at all, only on arrival.
- The owners representatives had promised to replace the broken fridge freezer but they never showed up to do so. We had to replace it ourselves by swapping it with another from a second property that the owner owns and currently was not being rented. We managed this with the help of the caretaker and grounds security staff.
- The golf cart provided was faulty and that too had to be swapped with the one from the owner’s second villa.
- The internet stopped working and was never fixed despite our complaints.
- We never saw the Hyundai Starex which we had paid for and also had submitted copies of our driver’s licences to secure. We asked the owner where it was and he said he didn't know why he promised the van as he only offered it for stays of over 12 days. This clearly contradicts the booking agreement we had with him.
- The owner and his representatives repeatedly demanded a damages deposit throughout our entire stay. As most things weren't working and we didn't get the van we had paid for, we rightfully refused to pay this.
In summary our experience with the villa’s owner and representatives totally ruined our holiday. It was a very stressful time and didn't give us any time to relax, considering we had flown from Europe to the Caribbean it felt like a completely wasted trip.
Please avoid at all costs.
