Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Come unwind and relax at this jewel box of a house in the heart of Irvington, VA! This lovely and stylish home is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, a quiet retreat, a great place to chill after a bike ride or a day of kayaking or golfing.

Conveniently located walking distance to almost everything that charming Irvington has to offer. Situated on a lovely half acre lot between the renowned five star Tides Inn Resort and the Hope and Glory Inn, the Blue House offers privacy while just moments to it all!

Historic Irvington, VA has been called 'Mayberry meets Manhattan.' Enjoy this quaint quintessential waterfront village without sacrificing great dining, shopping or style. Our house is an easy stroll or bike ride to a delicious meal at Nate's Trick Dog Cafe, great coffee and more at The Local, and the Chesapeake Club at The Tides Inn.

The shops Jimmy and Sook and the The Dandelion will keep you in style, Brocante Home has a lovely French flavor for home decor, and Village Needlepoint for the crafter, are also just up the street. The Tides Inn offers amazing spa services and an upscale gift shop.

Enjoy history? Walk to The Steamboat Museum. Historic Christ Church is one of the oldest churches in the nation and is just a short drive. The towns of Kilmarnock and Lancaster Courthouse have small museums focused on local history. There are many other historic sight nearby.

Rent a boat for fun or fishing. Golf at one of the famous local Irvington courses, The Golden Eagle, or the King Carter or the Tartan Golf course designed by Sir Guy Campbell.

The first Saturday of the month, Irvington hosts a wonderful Farmer's Market in the town square (yes, you can walk there as well!) It's an open air market featuring farm fresh produce and meats, art, crafts, plants, and something for everyone. There are other markets in nearby towns as well -- Kilmarnock, Heathsville, Urbanna and Mathews.

Two miles to the east is the wonderful town of White Stone. Stop in at The River Market, Seven -- a sinful Martini bar, dine at The Sandpiper, Bentleys, or Willaby's or shop for fashionable clothes and accessories at Farm. Take scenic Windmill Point Road to Charlie's Tiki Bar and enjoy drinks and watch the sunset of the Chesapeake Bay.

Kilmarnock, VA is about a seven minute drive. There are great high end and casual restaurants there as well: Town Bistro, Roses Steak and Seafood, Thai Pot, Carried Away Cuisine, Savannah Joe's Barbeque, and The Car Wash Cafe. Great antique stores, upscale shopping and RAL -- the Rappahannock Art League Gallery are all worth a visit.

There are some great local vineyards nearby for wine lovers. The Dog and Oyster Vineyard is an easy bike ride up the road. Good Luck Cellars is in nearby Kilmarnock, Jacey Vineyards and Athena Vineyards are also close by.

The Northern Neck is known for its festivals, parades and events. All year long there are things to do and see. The Fourth of July features local small town parades with vintage cars and fire engines. The Irvington Parade goes right by the house.

Plan a trip to our house and let the stress melt away!

Please note: We cannot hold a reservation without a signed rental agreement and a security deposit that has cleared our bank. Holiday weekends and bookings in high season may require a three day or more minimum. WiFi is offered throughout the Town of Irvington, but we make NO guarantees about WiFi as we do not have any control over it.

The town of Irvington is relaxing and laid back while still offering upscale amenities. Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful home with everything we needed for a lovely weekend. We

attended a wedding at the Tides Inn, and were able to walk to the

ceremony. The house was a great place to stay, without all the hassle

and noise of a hotel. The brick patio was a huge bonus as well. Stay

here, you won't regret it. -- posted by owner from Airbnb review.

What a wonderful spot!!!!

I recently returned from a week spent at this lovely cottage. Irvington is charming - loved the Dog and Oyster vineyard as well as the coffee shop downtown. There's so much to see and do and the cottage was a great place to "come home" to each day. Thanks, Laura for making our trip so memorable, I'll be back!

Little Blue House

  • 4 out of 5
The Little Blue House has a great location in the middle of tiny downtown Irvington, Virginia. You can walk to the Tidewater Inn and to the Local, a great little coffee shop. The quiet streets of Irvington are a wonderful place to bike. I agree, though, with two former reviewers: the mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced, and it would be nice to have taller lamps for reading. Just be aware that the only shower is upstairs in the second bedroom. What we missed the most, though, was the lack of WiFi. We like to read the reviews and see the menus of local restaurants in the area. Over all, it was a relaxing, quiet place to spend a couple of days on the Northern Neck.

I miss it there already!

  • 5 out of 5
My family just returned from the most relaxing weekend we've had in a very long time and we're already looking at the calendar to see when we can go back. Irvington is a beautiful, peaceful town and this house was our favorite part. It is just darling. We spent the days exploring the area and pigging out on seafood. With our toddler snoozing away to the white noise of the window unit upstairs, our nights were spent on the patio. It's so peaceful there - just listening to the crickets and watching the trees light up with fire flies as the sun goes down. As stated in the description, the house isn't baby proofed. However, it is very tidy and, as long as we kept her away from the stairs and sockets, all our kid could get into were pots, pans and empty cabinets, all of which she loved. Like other reviews have said, Irvington is a sleepy town. Some restaurants have short hours too, so it's good to make use of the full kitchen and keep some food/drinks on hand.

Great house!

  • 5 out of 5
Great house at a great price. This house is perfect for 2 couples because it has 2 master bedrooms although please note that only one had a shower. The other has a really nice jetted tub. The location is perfect for visiting some of the wineries and is within walking distance to The Dog and Oyster. The inside is very nicely decorated and we enjoyed having coffee in the morning on the back patio. We would definitely recommend this house and would rent it again on our next trip to the Northern Neck. The owner was great to work with.
