Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in North Eleuthera - Turtle Cove, North Eleuthera

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Very Secluded Beach House, Dock, Amazing Views, More...

Dreaming of a private island vacation, but can't quite afford one?

If you're looking for peace, quiet, and privacy, you've just stumbled upon paradise. Welcome to Turtle Cove, North Eleuthera, Bahamas. Turtle Cove is the most secluded villa rental on mainland Eleuthera Bahamas. This lovely, spacious, fully-equipped 4BR/2BA vacation home rental is located on a peninsula of four beautiful oceanfront acres of tropical fruit trees (at least 20 different varieties) and flowering trees in every color of the rainbow. The landscaping around the Turtle Cove villa is truly a delight to the eyes, and is a wonderful place for bird watching. Turtle Cove offers a fabulous view of the sea, the sunrise, the sunset, Harbour Island, and other surrounding cays. As the name, 'Turtle Cove', suggests, guests usually see beautiful turtles around the property every day.

This native-style Bahamian villa offers its own private dock and coves of deserted pink sand beach that are private enough for private swimming and sunbathing. The closest neighboring home or commercial establishment is more than three miles away in any direction; yet, Turtle Cove is within a short ride by boat and/or car to Harbour Island, Spanish Wells or other quaint towns on Eleuthera where you may visit historical landmarks, dine at quaint eateries, browse the native markets or explore interesting caves. The famous, historic Preacher's Cave is only a few miles away; it is a great place to explore. Preacher's Cave is where the first European settlers took shelter after they shipwrecked on Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef in 1648.

The area is known for its great bone fishing; bonefish have been caught from the home's private dock! The area also offers great snorkeling and fishing, and the famous Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef is less than a 1/4 mile away. Devil's Backbone Barrier Reef is world famous for reef fishing, lobstering, and snorkeling, and plays a very important part in the local history of the surrounding islands. Turtles and pods of dolphins frequent the area around Turtle Cove, and there are many deserted nearby islands and beaches to explore.

Fishing charters, diving charters, snorkeling guides, tour guides, caving excursions, rental boats, and rental cars are available for your enjoyment.....or you may just want to relax in paradise.

For your enjoyment this vacation rental offers free use of bicycles, and ocean kayaks that you may use to explore the beautiful natural surroundings. (Otherwise bicycles and kayaks are expensive to rent separately.)

Turtle Cove is great for those rental parties that definitely want to stay off the beaten track. If you are looking for a real natural escape with no neighbors right next door, and where the fishing and snorkeling are second to none, then, Turtle Cove is the place for you. Most guests never see another soul at Turtle Cove; a few run into a lost tourist or two or a local farmer turning around at the end of the road.

Please note that Turtle Cove is completely 'off the grid', and, as such, water and electricity conservation is encouraged.

Rates for four persons: $1895/wk. year round except Jan., Feb., April 1 - 15 & May 25 - September, and December 10 - 20 -$1995/wk. Beds main house: 2 kings, 1 queen & 1 queen sofa sleeper. Beds guest suite: 1 king, 1 queen. The guest suite is only opened for use when there are more than five guests or an additional fee is paid. Note: The rental rates are for the accommodations only. Ocean kayaks, and bicycles are offered free of charge for your use at your own risk. Note: An energy surcharge is applicable on this rental for any electric fuel charges in excess of $150/wk. so please be sure to use electricity wisely. Cleaning fee $100. About Lorraine Rowan Beauregard

We are a local family living in Spanish Wells Eleuthera Bahamas. Our family dates back to the original Eleutheran Adventurers, the first European settlers in The Bahamas dating back to 1648 who shipwrecked just a few miles from Turtle Cove. Brian aka Capt. Scuba is a licensed boat captain and works full time as a lobster diver. When not diving commercially for lobsters, he is a local fishing & snorkeling guide, and also offers area tours and cave exploring. (Some have called him the Crocodile Dundee of North Eleuthera.) Brent aka Capt. Smiley is also a licensed boat captain who also offers fishing and snorkeling trips, boat rentals, and golf cart rentals. He is also a local rental property manager. Lorraine is the local North Eleuthera realtor and will be pleased to show you all the best local real estate deals (her listings and all other agents' listings) when you are in town. Just give her a call if you would like any information on the local real estate market or a free real estate tour.

Lorraine Rowan Beauregard purchased this house in 1991

Why Lorraine Rowan Beauregard chose North Eleuthera

We found Turtle Cove in 1991 and fell instantly in love with the place. There are many little coves of beach on the peninsula and one long amazingly beautiful beach on the north side that seems to go on forever and there are no other souls in sight. The area around Turtle Cove is very private and secluded, and, yet, groceries, restaurants, bars, etc. are close enough for us at 3 - 5 miles away.

What makes this house unique

Turtle Cove is a very unique property. It offers seclusion. There are no other homes or commercial establishments within 3 miles of the property. The property also offers many coves of pinkish sandy beaches and a amazing beach that seems to stretch forever on the north side. You really don't know how nice it is to have a beach all to yourself until you try it. Turtle Cove also offers a dock on the protected east side of the property, which is great for persons that like boating and fishing, etc. It is very rare to find a property that offers both a beach and dock. The property offers many tropical fruit trees where guests may pick fresh fruit whenever it is in season. Most guests see beautiful turtles around the property just about every day. The property is completely off the grid and water and energy conservation is encouraged. Ocean kayaks and bicycles are offered free of charge to guests of Turtle Cove. A jeep rental is offered to guests of Turtle Cove at a discounted rental rate.

Privacy and Relaxation Galore!

  • 4 out of 5
We visited Turtle Cove in April 2014. At first I thought the cottage was a bit too rustic for my liking but quickly got used to the quiet (when the generator is off) and basic conditions. The property is beautiful and we loved walking to "our beach", a lovely 5 minute walk down a tropical path. The included car is a wonderful perk. When we got home, we realized that we didn't need luxury, that this was actually one of our favorite vacations and for the first time, we are returning to a vacation home. We have never found our perfect place. I just booked a return visit, this time reserving a boat. Lorraine is wonderful to work with, even providing me my favorite Bahamas treat, coconut bread waiting for me when we arrived. If you like to just unwind, be with your favorite person, relax and recharge this is the place for you!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review! Yes, Turtle Cove offers PRIVACY and RELAXATION like no other rental. These are two very important points for all of our repeat renters. Yes, Turtle Cove is not luxurious, but is clean and well-kept and offers quiet, privacy, and relaxation..... Turtle Cove is a place that "grows" on guests the longer they are there. Guests have said that they were not too sure about it on DAY ONE, but by DAY SEVEN they positively didn't want to leave. I think some people arrive at Turtle Cove so stressed that they need to take some time to relax, unwind, and adjust to enjoying a very simple life with beautiful natural surroundings; they start re-evaluating what is really more important in life. I'm so happy that you appreciate how truly beautiful and unique the property is at Turtle Cove. How many places in the world can one go and have miles of the most beautiful beach in the world all to themselves? The vehicle offered with the rental of Turtle Cove saves our renters about $190/wk. in car rental fees, so, it is, indeed, a nice perk. The generator is housed away from the villa, so it would be a very rare occurence for guests inside the home to hear the generator. I'm so happy that you have decided that Turtle Cove was your favorite vacation and the first ever vacation spot to which you will be returning for a second time. We have received your booking for Turtle Cove and a boat for March 2015. Thank you. A boat is a wonderful way to explore the nearby islands, reefs, and even more beautiful deserted beaches. Just remind me about your coconut bread a few days before you arrive in March, and we'll try to get some made just for you. Turtle Cove is definitely for those who like to unwind, relax, recharge, and enjoy quiet time with family and friends. It has been our pleasure to meet you, and we look forrward to welcoming you back in March 2015. Sunny smiles :) Lorraine and Capt. Smiley

Paradise!

  • 5 out of 5
All I can say is that we wanted for nothing at this house. The house, location, dock, beach, amenities, layout for 2 couples, views and privacy were more than we expected. Sealife right from the dock was amazing. Swimming in front of the house or down the trail to the big beach was enjoyed everyday. I was alittle concerned about having a generator for electicity but it worked out perfectly! We never turned on the TV, didn't miss having WiFi or a phone! It really is true that unless you leave the property and go by car or boat you will never see another soul at the house or on your beach. We saw one farmer in 2 weeks and one car that made a wrong turn and left. As the others have said, if too much peace and solitude is not for you; take a ferry to Harbor Island or Spanish Wells or South. We did HI, just ok. SW was very nice. We never went South since we have been South many many trips in the past. Where we were, at TC was where we spent most of our time, happily. I would suggest it for anyone that doesn't get bored swimming, snorkeling, fishing, reading, enjoying the beautiful stars at night and nature at it's finest. If solitude is not for you, neither is TC. For us, it was a magical 2 weeks and all we hoped it would be. I hated to leave!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm happy that your visit to Turtle Cove was more than you expected. Yes, we, too, find that after a day or two of not being connected to the outside world, we really don't miss it at all, and we can, finally, slow down and smell the hibiscus. Yes,indeed, Turtle Cove is for those persons who enjoy strolling on beautiful deserted beaches, swimming and snorkeling on "their own" beautiful reefs, catching fish for dinner, exploring nearby deserted islands, lounging, relaxing, reading, and enjoying beautiful starlit nights. Then, if you think you need a nice lunch out at a great little cafe, it is easy enough to find it just a couplle miles away. Thanks so much for sending us the wonderful photos you took of the turtles, pods of dolphins, and the beaches around Turtle Cove. (That one of the dolphin is really special. What a great photo to treasure.) We love to share our Paradise with persons who love and appreciate it as much as we do. Looking forward to seeing you all agian. Lorraine, Brian, and Brent

My favorite place on earth!!

  • 5 out of 5
This was the best vacation that my friends and my family have ever been on! The beach was amazing. The water color is just out of this world. The house was perfect for 4 adults and 2 kids with so much room. I loved watching the turtles at the end of the dock. We also saw nurse sharks which was thrilling. The snorkeling at the end of the dock was great! We ventured down south for a day and it was very neat looking at all the sights. I could go on and on about this place. We also went to Spanish Wells and Harbor Island. Spanish Wells had the most beautiful beaches. Harbor Island had more restaurants and is more touristy. Sip Sips on Harbor Island had great food. We are going back without kids so we can do more exploring. My 1 year old went and he absolutely loved it. He took naps right on the beach under a tree, feed the fish at the dock and chased lizards. I think it’s great for all ages! Can’t wait to go back!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I know what you mean -- we just love Turtle Cove, too, and the beach is amazing! The house is roomy enough for 10+ persons. We love to watch the turtles around the dock. They are truly amazing. We also enjoy the pods of dolphin swimming by from time to time. You were lucky to see a nurse shark. They look scary, but are harmless. They like the food scraps that are thrown off the dock as do all the little fishies. Yes, indeed, there's lots of great sea life to view when snorkeling right in front of Turtle Cove. Eleuthera has a lot of wonderful beaches, but the one on the north side of the Turtle Cove property can't be beat. Spanish Wells now has a new waterfront restaurant/bar called Shipyard located on the easternmost tip of Spanish Wells (the part of the island closest to North Eleuthera). It offers great service, food, and drinks. You guys might want to try Shipyard the next time you visit. (It might be a good idea to make reservations.) Sips Sips on Harbour Island is a great place for lunch. Looking forward to seeing you all again this spring -- even though you are leaving my little buddie behind at home. Sunny smiles :) Lorraine, Brian, and Brent.

Don't just visit The Bahamas, BE a Bahamian at TC

Don't just visit The Bahamas, BE a Bahamian at TC
  • 5 out of 5
It’s difficult to describe how it feels the first time you emerge from the path northward through the jungle onto the kind of beach that 99.9% of the world’s population can only dream about. Better yet, there’s not a footprint or a soul in sight. It’s also beyond my skill set to describe the silent, starlit sky at night, or the paralyzing beauty of a blood red sun rising over a glass-smooth cove early in the morning. Turtle Cove is paradise for people who see paradise in natural land and seascapes. I suppose it’s hell for people who see paradise in the meticulously false land and seascapes of Nassau’s famous mega-resorts.
In case I wasn't clear enough: Turtle Cove is not for everyone. For one thing, it’s off the grid, so the power source is a generator. Use it sparingly and you’ll find yourself experiencing -- perhaps for the first time -- what it’s like to hear no noise but the sound of your own breath, the breeze in the palms, and the subtle swish of an outgoing tide. A relative novice can do well here living off what the sea and the trees provide. There are conch in the bay side shallows, great spearfishing just to the north around Long Point, schools of Bar Jack, Yellowtail Snapper and plenty of crawfish (lobster) if you know where to look. Sour orange trees steps away from the house, sugar apple, coconuts, and papaya. In each of the 3 times we've made Turtle Cove our home, we've also rented a boat, and I’d highly recommend doing the same. It’s a wonderful to zip over to Harbour Island (Briland) for a conch salad made by Lavaune Percentie, who’s family runs the Queen Conch roadside food stall. If you’re looking for something a bit more upscale, we always enjoy the restaurants in The Landing hotel (bay side) and Coral Sands Resort (beach side).
The property’s jeep is a wonderful perk. It’s so nice to be able to pop down to the Bluff for groceries (a VERY good store for the area), or down the coast to Glass Window Bridge, Gregory Town, Governor’s Harbour or Palmetto Point. On the other hand, we've always had a hard time pulling ourselves away from Turtle Cove.
So, if you’re looking for a “getaway” in every sense of the word, Turtle Cove may very well be for you. If you need 24/7 access to email, plan accordingly. If you’re overly sensitive to no-see-ums (wee little biting gnats), plan accordingly. If you've never, ever been in an isolated location and that sort of thing freaks you out, well . . . Turtle Cove still might be the place for you.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. Since you have already been our guest at Turtle Cove three times, I'm sure that your review will be helpful to new guests of Turtle Cove, though most of our renters at Turtle Cove are repeat renters. Yes, definitely, you do have that correct -- Turtle Cove is not for everyone. It is for those who enjoy roaming miles of beautiful beach and frolicking in turquoise seas with no other souls in sight. It is for those who appreciate peace, quiet, and natural beauty. It is for couples and families that truly want to reconnect with each other without the distractions of our modern day lives. It is definitely not for those persons that prefer mega-resorts and all that goes with them. As the only home for three miles in any direction, Turtle Cove does need to provide it's own power. There are two fridges and a stove / oven that stay on full time and are powered by propane gas. There are also solar panels that power the radios, water pump, and a few small lights. Guests will need to turn on the generator if they want to run the micowave, A/C, etc. One usually cannot hear the generator while one is inside the villa, and most guests find that they use it sparingly. Indeed, there is an abundance of sea life around Turtle Cove, and depending on the season that guests visit, they might find any variety of fruits or vegetables growing in the orchards. The jeep is offered with the rental of Turtle Cove for a discount rental rate. (Otherwise, other jeep rentals on the island are much more expensive.) This vehicle is is a fun way to explore the rest of the island of Eleuthera. The ocean kayaks provided (one tandem and one single) are used to explore the nearby coves, and many of the Turtle Cove guests do rent a boat so that they can explore even more of the area and do a little island hoping. Turtle Cove is perfect for those who enjoy being off the beaten track and who truly like to "get away". (No-see-ums are common in The Bahamas, Florida, and most warm weather places. At Turtle Cove their presence is much less evident than in many other parts of Eleuthera, since their breeding grounds are not near Turtle Cove. If guests of Turtle Cove do find that no-see-ums happen to be present, they just put a thin layer of suntan oil on their skin, which causes these pests to die before they are able to bite.)

Turtle Cove is very secluded having no homes or commercial buildings within 3 miles of the property in any direction. This location is not for those looking for luxury and pampering. It is good for those who appreciate peace and quiet, for those who love the tropical outdoors, and for those who can entertain themselves by kayaking, boating, fishing, snorkeling, beach combing, viewing historic ruins, and occassionally boating or driving (3+ miles) to 'civilization' for a fantastic lunch or dinner, or a little shopping.
