My husband and I walked into The Yellow Door cottage last year and I fell in love with it! I always wanted to own a little beach cottage and this one spoke to me.
We purchased The Yellow Door in February 2013 and began working on it immediately. The cottage was totally renovated. New paint throughout, granite counter tops, new stove, tankless water heater, and big storage unit in the kitchen for dishes, food, etc. The bathroom floor was replaced with retro looking ceramic tile and granite topped with a vessel that looks pretty beachie to me! The bedroom was totally remodeled; removing the large closet and replacing it with a large IKEA wardrobe. A new queen size antique iron bed replaced the double bed and a small TV was included on the wall. The not so new door to the bedroom will be replaced with a period 'french' door soon; maybe by the time you arrive! The large glass panes will be covered in rice paper to provide privacy while letting light pass through.
The cottage has ceilings that are just shy of 10', giving that very open feeling. It's bright (4 windows in the living room alone!) and a window in every other room, including the hallway.
We've had a great time renovating this property and will be working on the yard, which is soooo large and prime for planting wonderful flowers and shrubs. Planned for the future is a screen room for summer meals and a hammock for napping! There is a lot of work to do in the yard.
There is a lot of space for parking your cars, jet skis, and boats, and we're working on killing the weeds and getting the gravel back in the driveway. We're almost there. All the gravel has been removed that covered the sidewalk in front of the cottage.
Please join us in loving this little cottage as much as we love it! It is very sweet and we've had the best time (Ok, I probably had more fun than Paul) renovating!

If you're traveling as a couple or with 1 or 2 children, why rent something large that you don't need? The Yellow Door Cottage only has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom (with tub) and has a comfortable, queen-size sofa bed in the living room. Everything in the cottage was just renovated, so clean, clean, clean.
There is lots of room in the driveway for your jet skis and parking, which is always at a premium at the beach. We are within walking distance of everything on the beach.
Located on the Point, you can see the Potomac River and Monroe Bay from the porch in the Fall/Winter, and from the sidewalk during the Summer. And, you can walk to the cute restaurants and shops. We're a block away from The Lighthouse Restaurant with Thai French food to die for!
If cute is what you're looking for, this is the place!
Parking, parking, parking! If you've been to Colonia Beach, you know how tough it is to park. The Yellow Door Cottage has great off-street parking for cars, jet skis, or a boat.
Located on the Point, we're within walking distance of everything that is happening during the summer. This is the place to be for location and comfort!
