Hello! My name is Patty and I would enjoy being your Host. I purchased this property in March 2012 and pretty much spent the next three months working with a general contractor to make improvements to the property and to gather information about the vacation rental business.
I am a horse enthusiast and a dog lover. I love riding my horses and my dogs enjoy going on trail rides with me. I spent 24 years working for the Federal Government in the Washington, DC area before moving to NW Montana over 12 years ago. My home is also on the property of the vacation rental so I would be available to take care of any needs.
I have been a small business owner and feel I have the common sense and compassion to make my vacation rental a pleasant place to stay for your experience in one of the most beautiful parts of the Rocky Mountains.
Patricia Barberio purchased this cabin in 2012
When I first visited NW Montana in Dec 2001, I fell in love with the Columbia Mountain Range. I was not able to find a home in this area at that time. I had visited this property a few times in the past and had purchased a few horses from the original owners. When those folks moved on, I jumped at the chance to place an offer on the home and property. This has been my 'Haven' ever since.
This Log Cabin was built in the 80's and was the original home on the parcel. Having the horse pastures close make for a very special view upon awakening - to see the horses grazing or staring at the house for me to come outside and feed them. Turkeys roost in the tall pine trees and an occasional fox has been known to trot by.
The cabin was great! Loved the touch of flowers on the table. We had a wonderful vacation. Will definitely recommend your site to our friends.
The Pinehaven Ranch is a perfect refuge for a trip to Glacier National Park.
Patty the owner is great! She's friendly and accessible but gives her guests the space to do their own thing. The cabin accommodations were clean and comfortable and had all the amenities (dishware, microwave, stove/oven, fridge, washer and dryer) along with a wood stove with ample firewood and fire-making supplies. The wood stove was awesome since we had an early blast of winter during our stay. The experience was many times better than a hotel/lodge stay.
This property is within 20 minutes of Whitefish (to the west) and 20 mins to the West entrance to GNP (to the east). At Glacier, be sure to plan a few hours to drive the "going to the sun road" and make sight-seeing stops. There are plenty of great hikes/activities on the West side of Glacier, so honestly our 4 nights 3 days in the area were not enough.
- the property is completely fenced in, our dog loved it and got to hang out with Patty's dogs.
- When we were busy in the Park, we dropped our dog off at Pawsitively Perfect dog daycare in nearby Evergreen. Our dog loved it and we HIGHLY recommend this service as pets are restricted in Glacier National Park
- Multiple outfitters nearby for rafting, helicopter tours, etc.
- There are scenic boat rides available on nearby Lake MacDonald in GNP
- Also on the West side of GNP there is a horseback riding outfit in which you can ride up the hiking trails.
- Dozens great GNP hikes within an hour of this property, a few within 30 mins of the property
- We had breakfast a short drive away at the West Glacier Restaurant, it was very good
- We had lunch and dinner in this same area at the Cafe attached to the gas station just outside the entrance to GNP. Sounds sketchy but don't be fooled, great meals, local beers, homemade pie, etc.
- YOU MUST GET Coffee at Montana Coffee Traders (only 10 mins from this property). Amazing brew. They have food as well but we didn't try it.
We had an extraordinary time at this cabin. The setting is serene and beautiful. The stars are immense. The cabin kitchen was very well stocked and we really enjoyed the wood burning stove on chilly evenings. The bed is very comfortable and we ate out on the deck several evenings. Patty is a wonderful hostess. Her dogs are friendly and we enjoyed watching the horses. It is an easy drive to West Glacier. Maybe we will retire here. If we had brought our dog with us we might have moved in!
The cabin was perfect for our stay near the west entrance of Glacier. It was secluded on a beautiful farm with large pine trees. We loved the deck and used the grill a lot. Everything was comfortable and the cabin was well supplied. Patty's dogs were super sweet and came by to see us daily. I would definitely stay here again.
We had an awesome time at the cabin. Patty is the best, she went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. The cabin is very comfortable and supplied with everything you would need. The property is clean and well maintained, and we enjoyed the horses and dogs. We had a great time staying at this cabin, and would highly recommend it to anyone!!
We really enjoyed staying at this comfy cabin. It was clean and had all the necessities we would need for our stay. Patty, you have such a wonderful, quiet place and I want to thank you for the books. I will be reading them soon. The bed was very comfortable and we loved sitting on the porch in the evening. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice place to stay. It felt just like home.
