Renowned local restaurants which are walking distance include: Frances, Delfina, InCanto, Contigo, Farina, Range, Star Belly and many, many more. This family friendly vacation spot sleeps 4: one queen bed and two twin sleepers in the living room. The flat is equipped with WiFi access, local phone service and cable.
Wonderful, cozy, comfortable property in a great, diverse area of San Francisco. There were fresh flowers in a vase and a bottle of wine when I arrived!
I booked this while in San Francisco for business and it was so much nicer than staying in a hotel. I was truly able to relax after work and enjoy my evenings.
The host lady, Barbara, is wonderful and helped me with getting around SF, restaurant recommendations and, in general, making sure my stay in the city is great. I will definitely book again when in San Francisco.
We were very pleased with our stay in this apartment. It provided us with a great opportunity to be able to utilize the public bus system, which stop right in front of the apartment. The apartment is a beautiful one bedroom apartment with all amenities that you need to feel the comforts of your own home and I would like to thank Barbara for the bottle of wine she provided us with. The garden is breathtaking and exactly as shown on-line. The hike up the steep hill was the only set-back for us but if you like hiking, then this works out well or if necessary one can take the bus or even a cab like we use to do when we would go out in the late evening. We have family and friends here and I often stay with them but choosing this apartment this time was exactly what we needed. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the San Francisco area. Thanks again Barbara........
We spent a week here with our two children (10 & 13) and had. wonderful time. The place is exactly as shown in the pictures except for the backyard which has been updated. It is very close to the Castro Muni and the bus runs right past the door so you can take back up the hill at the end of the day if you want. Groceries are close as are lots of restaurants. If you want to stay some place where you feel you really in San Francisco but also want a retreat at the end of the day, this is an ideal place.
Could not have been a more perfect apartment for us in SF. The decor is impressive. The living room is super comfortable (and they have AMC, so we could even watch Breaking Bad). The kitchen is extremely well stocked (and with a great water filter built in to the sink). Bathroom was great (with amazing shower water pressure). The bedroom was just right and the black-out blinds really did the trick. And that backyard is stunning.
Barbara was always responsive when we needed her and we were delighted to even meet her on the sidewalk one evening.
The location is really great. Yes, it is up a hill. About a 10 minute walk downhill to the KLM muni stop at Castro/Market. And you can take the 24 bus from the muni back up the hill to the front door of the apartment. Or take the 35 bus up the hill and walk the final block. The Castro is obviously a great place to be. Starbucks, Anchor Oyster Company (heaven), and, of course, Hot Cookie. On the other side of the hill is Noe Valley, a charming neighborhood with great restaurants, a Whole Foods, and a nice weekend farmers market.
Cannot wait to stay here again on our next SF trip.
It is hard to describe in english how amazing and unforgetable was the experience...When we started planning our trip, one friend recommended homeaway.I started surfing and found this great appartment and thought: they are photoshop pictures but it was so nice that we decided to take the risk:
THE APARTMENT IS JUST LIKE THE PICTURES, IT IS A DREAM!!!
It is really a 5 stars own apartment, it is very well located if you want to know SF and dont miss the good sleep, the choice to cook (also have very nice restaurants or also places that sells good food to take away). The quality of the things, the design and good taste for everything!!
Our trip was delayed and we got in the middle of the night to the apartment, we where going to be there in the morning.. Barbara was very helpfull! she send us the key's instructions and when we got there, there was a bottle of wine and some things to have a small breakfast, it was a perfect welcome ...and she is available all the time for help (we really didnt need to call her because we have everything at the apartment: instructions for washing our clothes, instrucitons of the house and the key topics for the neighboorhood, which is wonderfull!!!)
Dont miss the Castro and also the mission (walking distance) and we also took the citypassport that was great to move everywhere (we get to the apartment bu metro, by bus and also by cable car that i loved them! depending on your plan and time you can choose the location is very good, away from noice but near to sightseeing the city
I will definitly recommend this incredible apartment!!!
Thank you for the wonderfull stay!
It is impossible to sum up our stay with Barbara in a few words. Simply put, you have to experience it to understand it. To begin with, the pictures are dead on. What they fail to show you however, is just how large this apartment is, how cute, bright, stylish, homey, spectacular! It is well furnished with everything you would need for a long/short stay. You could easily house a small family/group here without feeling like sardines. We had friends over who live in San Fran & even they were blown away. The backyard garden is an added treat, especially after a long day of being touristas. It's a lavish, private, quiet sanctuary to have coffee in the morning, and a cocktail in the evening.
Barbara herself is the hostess of hostesses! She was so accommodating, un-intrusive, and pleasant. In fact, I ended up feeling guilty towards the end, as young 20-something's are bound to do, we stumbled home friends in tow a couple of times, and I'm sure caused some ruckus, but we never heard a peep from upstairs. If you are visiting the Castro, as we were, you are a mere blocks away from it's main stretch. Mission, Noe Castro as well are within walking distance. Innumerable shops, restaurants, liquor stores, salons, etc all close by. Public transit easily accessible. Apartment immaculately maintained.
Any negatives? Only one, which has nothing to do with our host or the apartment, but rather the geographical nature of San Fran. It is an uphill walk from the main stretch of attractions; do not underestimate me, when I say "uphill." I am from the Midwest and accustomed to prairie flatness, so this took some getting used to.
Would I stay here again? Much like I left a piece of my heart in San Francisco, I left a piece of it in this beautiful home. We will be back Barbara, thank you for everything!!!
the geographic center of San Francisco, close to Castro Street, the hip Valencia corridor, Noe Valley
marvelous farmers markets, world class restaurants, shopping, museums, all easily accessible
gorgeous nature close by as well, like Mt.Tam, Muir Woods, beaches to surf
