GET AWAY FROM IT ALL AND HAVE IT ALL NEARBY!

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cabin in Sanford

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3-6)

This romantic cozy cottage is located on Bauneg Pond and the Great Works River, easily accessible from I-95. Centrally located for easy day-trips to the ocean, the mountains, sightseeing, and shopping.

But the main attraction is the location itself. Front and back decks provide waterfront relaxation with water on three sides of the property. Canoe or kayak out onto the main lake or up the river for more privacy and wildlife including nesting great herons. Our favorite activities is to relax on the deck with an evening cocktail and watch the sun go down across the river!

Once a purely rustic cabin this cottage now has knotty pine board walls and ceiling with cottage size stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, and shower. While enjoying the cottage-on-the-lake experience you can also stay connected with the outside world if you desire via wireless internet and cable TV.

The bedroom has a double bed. There is also a twin-sized day bed and a convertible sofa-bed in the main room.

The Maine fishery department states that bass and pickerel provide ample angling opportunity and the lake supports a large population of white perch.

My mother bought this cabin decades ago to "get away from it all" in her retirement. It's become the go-to relaxation spot for family and friends that we are now sharing with others.

The cabin provides the best of both worlds. It's on a peninsula at the point where the Great Works river enters Bauneg Beg Pond. The expanse of the pond is available by canoe and kayak without the traffic that comes with being on the shore of the main lake. While the shopping and sightseeing of southern Maine are available within easy driving distance of the cabin, so are the peace and solitude of great heron nesting sites within easy canoe range.

Cozy get away

The location of this rental was easy to find with the picture directions the owner sent. The landmarks really helped. It was quiet and very privet yet a short drive to Sanford shopping and fast food places. Even a Dunkin Donuts 5 minutes away!
The cabin looked just as it was in the photos. We felt right at home the minute we walked in the door. If we had a cabin, this is just the way we would want it to look. The only thing I would add is a fireplace. But I understand that could be a hazard for a rental property. Fantastic panoramic views of the water.
The cabin was very clean with lots of homey touches. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Even cable TV & Wi-Fi. One tiny glitch was that I got the wrong wife code. But I left a message with the owner and he got back to me with the correct code the next day. We looked forward to getting back to the cabin in the evening and just relaxing. So cozy. I think we would have used the decks more often in the evening, but being October, it was a bit cool later on. Never had to use the heat thou. It was very comfortable inside.
My husband and I went out on the canoe (my first time)! Luckily the water was very calm! LOL
We had a great breakfast at this little place right in the small Sanford airfield, “The Cockpit”. Also at a little dinner north of Sanford, “The three Alarm dinner”. Did a lot of just driving around exploring. In general, the roads in Maine are great. There was a road map at the cabin that we borrowed and it was very helpful when we got lost a couple of times.
We went to Kittery for a bit of shopping at the outlets. Love the Kittery Trading Post.
We would love to go back and maybe bring some of our family next time. They would love it. We would highly recommend this rental. Thanks for a relaxing get-away!

Great Time!

My family stayed in the cabin for 3 nights. We had a wonderful time. The location was perfect for travel to the local beaches. My kids had a blast with the canoe and kayak. The beds were very comfortable and the cabin itself was very clean and well stocked. The cable and WiFi worked perfectly. The decorations were very quaint. We will definitely be staying here again next year!

A Fresh Water Get-Away w/Ocean Options

This was a pleasure! Again, as stated in the other reviews, this cabin is charming, cozy, clean and located on a small parcel of property with spectacular views from sun up to sun down. Situated at the neck of the river and at the entrance to the pond (the size of a small lake,) the back porch allows you to watch and wave to the folks who enjoy boating, fishing, canoing...etc. Very quiet, very friendly. Located just 12 minutes from Wells, ME and the ocean beaches and 15 minutes from Dover, NH with some wonderful shops, restaurants and parks. As well, several golf courses with restaurants, are a welcome distraction, too! Sanford being only 3 miles up the road has grocery shopping at Hannafords and Shaws and a cinema with some of the larger box stores to shop on rainy days. PYO (Pick Your Own) Blueberries is within walking distance from the cabin. My favorite? Perennial and Farm stands everywhere !! Beautiful flowers, plants, ornaments, gardening tools and accessories. Antiques? Turn Left or Right out of the drive....And all with no RT1 (coastal) traffic !! We found it ironic when we came to visit with folks who have a home in Wells, that they actually enjoyed coming to Bauneg Beg Pond and getting away from all the tourists and traffic and long lines at restaurants. As luck would have it, there is a wheelchair ramp accessible to the cabin, which in our case served as a welcome response to a guest who was in a wheelchair. Several "inland" seafood, steak houses and Italian restaurants are available with ambiance much more suitable to quiet, dressy surroundings. We look forward to booking on an annual basis as we don't want to spoil a good opportunity when we have already experienced one. Communication with the owner was a pleasure and timely. All questions answered in real time. Little to think about while enjoying a carefree vacation....

I went here on my honeymoon and it was everything we wanted. Cozy, well kept, with many activities both in and outside. We were able to travel to all the different coastal towns and beaches with ease and all within 45 min driving. They were very accommodating and helpful. They even picked up flowers to put in the cottage for our arrival. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It exceeded our expectations and we would definitely stay again.
Even the fishing was good. My husband caught 6 different kinds of fish and many crappie. Most importantly, the bed was very comfy.

Owner's Response: Thank you! We'd be happy to have you back.

The spring fishing is very good. I think the cold spring snow run-off makes them hungry.
