This charming home was completed in January 2013. Everything, from appliances, linen, air conditioning and landscaping, is brand new. Promising peace, privacy and comfortable living - this new 3 bed 2 and half bath townhouse is top-of-the-line. An open living and dining area provides a perfect blend of charm and spaciousness with the modernized kitchen nearby, as well as a relaxing garden patio. The home sleeps 6 in its two pillow top queen beds and the master suite king size Tempur-Pedic memory foam bed. The home has been thoughtfully designed, professionally decorated, and tropically landscaped - all done by local professionals - it's truly amazing!
StoneRidge is a fully functioning home where we (and you) can either make a full turkey dinner at Christmas or work from the home office (complete with WiFi and a desktop computer). You have access to premium cable package on any of the four large flat-screen TVs in our home, and you can use the 60-inch flat screen TV in the living room to play our large selection of Wii or PS3 games. Each bedroom also has its own iPod dock.
StoneRidge is managed by two local residents who will be your point of contact while you are on the island. Our managers will arrange for your pick up and drop off at the airport and they will give you insider tips on the best way to enjoy your time while on the island!! They are also available in the rare event that you have an emergency while you are here.
After many trips from our home in Canada to Nassau, and after renting several different vacation homes in North America and the Caribbean, we decided to create StoneRidge at Balmoral - a vacation home that we would be proud to rent to others who love The Bahamas as much as we do.
Owner purchased this townhome in 2013
We believe that New Providence has so much to offer such as, Goodfellows’ Farm, great shopping at Old Fort Bay and Lyford Cay Plazas, adventurous Jaws Beach, the Mall at Marathon, Cabbage Beach at Paradise Island, scenic Coral Harbour, Compass Point Restaurant & Lounge, Cafe Matisse and the Atlantis Harbour. There are numerous day trips that leave from the Ferry Terminal at Potters Cay Dock. This is why we strongly suggest that you rent a car while you are here so that you can take advantage of all that the island has to offer!!!
Some of the unique features of StoneRidge at Balmoral are: the onsite 'Mark Knowles' Tennis Courts, a beautiful children's playground with climbing structures, an amazing pool and a conveniently located restaurant with delicious Bahamian and American Cuisine. You will also have full access to our 'members only' club, which houses the gym, a bar and lounge area, a pool room along with other amenities. You will have access to all of the other attractions in New Providence, including Baha Mar, The Fish Fry, Downtown Nassau, jet ski rentals at Goodman’s Bay, Cable Beach Casino and JFK Drive, which will connect you to the rest of the island, including Paradise Island/Atlantis Resort & Casino.
We come to Nassau several times a year. Having enjoyed two other vacation properties operated by Sherry and Sharlene, we did not hesitate to spend 10-days at StoneRidge. We were not disappointed! Since we always rent a car in Nassau, we loved the central location of this home and the proximity to major roadways and the attractions on all sides of the island. The home's location in the quiet gated community was very cool, as was the chance to use the pool and tennis courts at the Balmoral Club. As with all of Sherry and Sharlene's properties, this rental is better equipped than our actual home and they have truly thought of everything. We know when we rent with them, all we will have to do is enjoy our worry-free vacation. We love The Bahamas and are already looking forward to staying at StoneRidge for our next trip this summer.
Having stayed at a local all-inclusive resort on a previous trip, I knew that was not the kind of experience I wanted on this occasion. We were three generations coming together from across Canada and we were looking for a more cozy, family friendly setting.
From the moment we landed. our experience in Nassau was amazing!
We were greeted at the airport by the Property Manager, Sherry who immediately took us under her wing!
My son-in-law, who had been elected as our driver for the week, was understandably anxious about his first experience driving on the "wrong side" of the road, but Sherry was wonderful. She suggested that we initially go to the grocery store so that we had that out of the way. She coached Dave briefly on what he should expect and had him follow her. It was the perfect way to ease him in.
The townhouse was exactly as all the previous reviewers have described. When I say that this was our home away from home, I mean to suggest that we immediately felt at home here. None of us actually lives in a home like this! We could not have asked for a more perfect arrangement for our family!
Sherry continued to assist us throughout our visit with our questions and any arrangements that we wished to make. How lucky the owners are to have such wonderful people manage their property!
We had excursions of some sort most days but really enjoyed our down time "at home": barbecuing on the patio, playing cards on the large dining room table or spending some memorable family moments up at the clubhouse playing pool.
For the most part, we found that buying groceries was more expensive than eating out...at the right places! The Fish Fry, Bahama Grill and Checkers provided such large servings that we were able to have leftovers at home.
My elderly father and I managed well using the number 10 bus the day the kids were at Atlantis. While I doubt that our experience was the norm, our bus driver drove us right up to the gates of Balmoral.
This island and this property are a breath of fresh air! I will be back!
This review is long overdue and I just didn't have the time to write it. I did, however, write a lengthy and glowing thank you note in the guestbook at StoneRidge. We were the first guests, after the owners, to stay at this beautiful vacation property. We have a 2 and a 7 year old, and never before stayed at vacation properties, but resorted to the safe all-inclusive route. After having such an amazing experience at StoneRidge, we fell in love with this kind of way of vacationing and have since visited Cayman Islands as well, booking our own rental, car and flight and having a rich and memorable experience with our kids. StoneRidge, as many said here, exceeded our expectations. It's a brand new townhome that the owners invested in to create a home away from home not only for themselves but for others. It's located in that beautiful Balmoral community and provides access to a pool, tennis courts and other facilities to its guests. Plus, the location of the community is fantastic, right in the middle of Nassau, so you're close to everything. Beach is not within walking distance and you definitely have to rent a car if you're staying here, but it's worth it. The property manager - Sharlene - was extremely helpful and welcoming. She met us at the airport and arranged for a car seat and high chair for my 2 year old daughter. She made fantastic recommendations for where to eat and what to see and we weren't disappointed. If you're like us, looking at this and hesitating about going the vacation rental route, then stop and just book, like we did. The photos don't even do it justice - this place is AMAZING, in fact, we even inquired about purchasing a place in this community as well. We told so many of our friends and family about our amazing trip to Nassau and stay at StoneRidge and hope to be back one day as well.
We normally stay at hotels, and so we did our research before renting a vacation home. We did feel nervous about some of the reviews we read about problems with vacation rentals, but after this trip, it will be hard to stay in a hotel again. The pictures and description on VRBO are accurate. I wish my actual home was as nice as Stoneridge. The house is so well equipped that there was even a scale in the walk-in closet in the bedroom. We heard that the internet is slow in The Bahamas, but we had no problems at all with the Wi Fi (there is also a desk-top computer in the home). The gated neighbourhood is very active on weekday mornings with landscapers, painters, cleaners, etc. Every single person we met greeted us with a “Good morning”, “Good afternoon”, “Everything good?”, and so on, and it seemed that people really take pride in the appearance of the entire street. It rained (hard) while we were here and that made the Wi Fi, X-Box, cable TV and covered patio really important, since a beach day on that day just was not an option. We also island-hopped over the Eleuthera on Bahamas Air, and since we had to be at the airport for a 6:45am, we were very happy about the short drive to the airport. We would recommend this property without hesitation.
Tips: 1) You need to rent a car if you want to stay here. All of the parking around Stoneridge is free, and there are more than enough spaces. Goodman’s Beach (also with lots of free parking) is very close, but you cannot walk to it because the Baha Mar golf course is in the way. 2) If you want to go downtown, you can park for free at Goodman’s Beach and then catch any #10 bus into downtown. The #10 is basically for tourists, so you can’t go wrong (unless you get on the 10A, so make sure you catch just the #10). You pay $1.25 per rider as you leave the bus. All the #10s stop at the same place downtown, and that is where you get the bus on the way back. Just tell the driver you want to be dropped off at Goodman’s Bay. 3) It is expensive to eat out on the island, so we suggest that you plan to cook some of your meals at home. The Fish Fry is very affordable if you want to eat out, and it is only a 5-minute drive from Stoneridge. Solomon’s is a very good grocery store, and there is one just down the street from the airport. There is also a City Market on Cable Beach, about a 5-minute drive from Stoneridge.
This was my first trip to The Bahamas. I have heard stories of people renting vacation homes based on the pictures, and finding that the home looks nothing like the photos, so I was cautious about Stoneridge at Balmoral. What I found in real life was seriously better than the pictures. This place is stunning. There is so much to see and do in New Providence, but I was happy when it rained on two days because I didn't feel guilty about just relaxing in the house during the day and then spending the evening on the deck, listening to the rain and watching the lightening storm. The Balmoral Club looks like something from a fairy tale and I could not believe I was allowed to use the private club as part of the home rental. There are a lot of local workers around during the day, since they are finishing the last few condos on Royal Lane, and they were all friendly and happy to chat. I also liked that there was 24/7 security at the front gate. Finally, Sherry and Sharlene were so lovely and helpful with their insider tips on how to really enjoy the island. Sherry and Sharlene, I mean it: if you need me to do any work on your homes, especially if it is winter in Canada, I will be back in a heartbeat!
When my daughter said she was doing a destination wedding in The Bahamas, I was concerned about finding a vacation home that would meet the needs of our family and small wedding party. Stoneridge was a perfect home base for our wedding week celebrations. The decor was absolutely beautiful and actually made for a wonderful backdrop for the photos of our family dinners and of the wedding party as we got ready on the morning of the wedding. We had several lovely dinners, including the rehearsal dinner, on the lush patio -- again, stunning backdrops for photos. The layout of the house flows so well that we were able to do hair and make up here on the morning of the wedding, as well. So many weddings are stressful, but we never once felt stressed, probably because there was literally everything we needed in this home. Our wedding group also loved going to the Balmoral Club and pool, which was so quiet, it was like our own private space. We didn't want to go home at the end of the week, and the wedding party has already said that they are coming back to do it all again for the 1- year anniversary! So, I guess we will see you next year, Sherry and Sharlene!
I am very grateful for the homeowners blessing me with the opportunity to share in their home while my family and I were on vacation. This is truly a home away from home. This is a must stay for anyone travelling to the Bahamas that desires more than one bedroom. This home offers comfort, modern finishes and is very spacious for a family or a multi-couple vacation. The pictures really don't adequately capture the beauty of this rental; you will not be disappointed. Though you need a car to get to any sights, it is conveniently located. You will love coming home after a day of shopping, swimming on the beach or sight seeing. Love, Love, Love It!
