Just steps away from the pristine – and undiscovered – beaches of Delaware Bay. Enjoy dinner on the beach or watch the sunset from the comfort of the cathedral-ceilinged sitting room. This unique, pet-friendly cottage has all the amenities of home plus the tranquility of the shore. The first floor is dominated by a fully-equipped, open-plan kitchen and dining area that overlooks a bright entry hall and front porch that is perfect for al fresco meals or soaking in the ambiance. A powder room and mudroom with a washer and dryer are also on the ground floor. Off a small hallway at the back of the house, the very private, spacious master bedroom suite has an attached full bath. On the second-floor, a comfy sitting room and an airy second bedroom overlook the bay, while a sunny third bedroom is an ideal space for kids. There is a second full bath with shower off the sitting room. A futon sofa offers additional sleeping space. This idyllic retreat sits amid a large yard at the end of a quiet residential street. Just imagine your family enjoying an evening barbecue in the yard followed by a moonlit walk along the beach.
YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL – a vacation away from the crowds and the noise, but only a 10-minute drive to the bustling shops, restaurants, and activities of Cape May and Wildwood - AND YOUR PET WILL LOVE IT TOO!
I am a native New Yorker who grew up on the beach. I've always loved the ocean, and as an archaeologist, I've had the opportunity to swim at many beaches in many countries, but our New York and New Jersey beaches remain my favorites. I now live in the Hudson Valley, but I come down to Cape May as often as I can.
Susan Dublin purchased this house in 2009
My brother Chris designed and built this house in 2004, and it bears the imprint of his impeccable taste and unique vision. Chris lived and worked in the area for many years. He introduced us to the Victorian elegance of Cape May City, its ocean and bay beaches, and especially the natural world of the shore - the raptor and butterfly migrations in the fall, the mating season of the horseshoe crabs in the spring, and the wild beauty of the coastal wetlands. Oh, and the shopping is good here, too.
