Perfect Place for a Winter Beach Vacation
My daughter and I stayed at the condo from Christmas night to New Year's Day. Everything was exactly as shown on this site--bright and cheerful and welcoming. It was spacious (for 2 people), well equipped, comfortable and clean. The wifi was flawless. There was cable TV and a CD player with a good selection of music to relax by. We hardly used the air conditioners because we enjoyed the sound of the ocean much more. When we called Mariangel with a few requests--another set of keys and more sheets--they were delivered in a few hours. There are laundry facilities on the ground floor. When I ran out of quarters, the doorman made a trip to his car and brought back all the change he had and gave it to me. The location is perfect. You take the elevator down to the ground floor, walk through the gated parking lot and you are on the beach. The beach itself is great--warm soft sand, perfect for walking and wading, warm water, nice (but not huge) waves, no rip tide, lots of places to buy food and drink inexpensively. You can use the chairs in the condo or rent 2 chaise lounges and an umbrella for $18. There are also jet skis, sailboats, kayaks, parasailing, etc. available, and hotels nearby that serve food and beverages. It is a family oriented beach--no one misbehaving or loud, everyone just having fun. Piu Bella is a diner on the corner that is open 24 hours. They have decent sandwiches and great gelato. We were especially happy to find them open late on Christmas night. Walgreens is about a 5-minute walk away, very handy for stocking up. We had a mixup with our rental car reservation, so we didn't use the garage facility, but it looked convenient and secure. Because we didn't have a car as planned (& therefore no place to store our luggage between noon checkout and 8pm flight), Mariangel worked with us to arrange a late check-out, which made our last day much more enjoyable than it might have been. If you book tours, they will pick you up at one of the hotels within walking distance. The bus to Old San Juan is only 75 cents, but it runs infrequently. We had a wonderful trip and definitely want to return and see more of the island. The only suggestions I would have for the condo would be to include a drying rack for bathing suits and beach towels and some plastic cups (rather than all glass.) Overall our stay was a 10+.
