Spacious yet Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was absolutely beautiful and looked even better than in the pictures with plenty of open room, as well as a secluded basement for alone time if needed. The multi-level decks were great to hang out on at night and look at the stars. The giant windows were great for having a constant view of nature. The location of the cabin is set in the woods with a good amount of privacy and distance from the main road, but it is only a short drive to the grocery store which was very convenient. The area had some fantastic hikes and it was great to come back to a spacious yet cozy cabin.

A great dog-friendly get away

  • 5 of 5

Dog people, this is a GREAT house for a get-away. The deck on the second story is totally enclosed with a secure door/gate. It is solid and high enough even for our large dogs. We were able to sit out on the deck on a lovely sunny afternoon without having to keep our dogs on leash or inside. Our dogs are trained, but we have never been comfortable letting them off leash outside at a rental before because you know, one squirrel ... and there goes all that voice recall work, right?! But this was great. We enjoyed sipping our cocktails while they enjoyed laying in the sun with us.

This was after a lovely walk along the river that morning. Although the beach at the lake is marked "No dogs," the walk along the river is perfect for them. If you take your dogs on a walk, go down the hill back towards the entrance but before crossing the bridge hang a right, pass the dumpsters on your right and keep walking towards the lake ahead of you. Just before you get to the lake, turn left on that road and look *behind* you. We missed the entrance the first day, but we enjoyed it so much the next day. When we come back, we will bring a picnic. We sat at the tables listening to the waterfall while the dogs played until they were exhausted from fun and being loved on by the other humans enjoying the trail. Our group included large senior dogs and young small dogs, and it was perfect in that it was close to the house, away from car traffic, and offered tons of rocks to climb and jump and play on.

The house was comfortably furnished. My "deal breaker" with rentals is crappy mattresses. These were comfortable, and we all slept well (the long walks and cocktails probably had something to do with that, too, I suppose). There were also plenty of blankets. The house, including the comforters and linens, was very clean. There was only one hand soap dispense in only one (of the four) bathrooms, and it was empty. It would be nice if there were soap dispensers in all of the bathrooms for hand washing when guests arrive. There were plenty of clean, fluffy towels.

The only downside to the house was the lack of wireless. We would love to come back for a week or longer, but without wireless, we couldn't be in touch with work as needed. It was nice to unplug for the weekend, but adding wireless would make this a house we (and probably others like us ) could stay at for a longer rental period.

Lake Lure

  • 5 of 5

This is a spectacular cabin. It is huge, in a great spot and perfect for a large family gathering. We arrived after dark , there were welcoming lights on, the cabin was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the lake and beach every day and did some tubing.

Family had a blast!

  • of 5

This was our first time vacationing in a cabin and it turned out to be the best vacation yet. The cabin is in a nice remote area, but not too remote where you have to drive more than 15 minutes to a grocery store. At nighttime the moon and stars light up the sky with a beautiful view. If you're looking to do some hiking, you're in luck. You'll be in walking distance (10-15 minutes) to a beach with a pavilion. Right next to the beach is a little nature walk area, which is a fun place to bring your dogs if you have any...

Needless to say, we had a really good time and wouldn't hesitate to have another vacation here in the future.

Wow!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second cabin we have rented from owners. We have rented many cabins in this area and the Smokies. This one was, by far, one of the best. It is nicely secluded, private but not remote. Extremely spacious and beautifully furnished . Upkeep of home excellent..... but the cabin is really gorgeous, Would highly recommend for any group.

Beautiful cabin with a couple small issues

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is beautiful and well maintained! Our large family loved hanging out together in the gorgeous family room and on the large back deck.

We did have a couple small issues however. The cabin is described as 4 bedrooms and a loft. One of the "bedrooms" is also part of the loft area however. My husband and I were shocked when we realized we did not have walls to our bedroom. We had claimed the bedroom plus loft because we thought our children would wake up first and so it made sense for them to be in the loft. It turned out though that my father-in-law and sister-in-law woke up first every morning, and my husband and I could hear them making coffee and every word they said downstairs. So much for sleeping in on vacation! There is also not a shower upstairs (only a large tub), which is listed in the bathroom descriptions on this site.

We also had some trouble with the heating. During our stay, it was in the 30s at night and very chilly in the basement. The basement looks like it was added onto the main floor HVAC, so there were not many vents down there and stayed chilly even though the main floor was comfortable.

Overall, we liked it but didn't love it.

Owner's Response: thank you for the review! I was sorry to hear that you had a problem with the heating downstairs. We checked it and found that the vents downstairs had all been closed so there was no heat coming through! It has been fixed but would have definitely been chilly like that. The large upstairs bedroom opens to the loft and the big windows. Most log cabins in the mountains have an upstairs loft that does have one side open to mountain views. Upstairs has a large garden tub and there are three other bathrooms, two with showers and tub. Thanks again!
