Fantastic 1 bedroom apartment on a quiet street in Kew. This is a Victorian one bedroom property in central Kew Gardens completely modernised in 2013 to the highest standard.
It is full of original features with antique marble fireplaces in both the sitting room and the bedroom. The modern kitchen/breakfast room has granite work surfaces and french doors opening onto a small private outdoor area. The walk-in wet room is tiled in Italian stone and has underfloor heating.
Overall it is a first class property in the centre of Kew with two grocery stores (one of which also bakes its own bread and has the best fresh baked pain au chocolat in Kew!), a cafe and restaurants within a two minute walk.
The property is a five minute walk from Kew Gardens tube station and Kew Gardens British Rail overland train station. Immediately outside the property is a bus stop which will take you to Richmond in 5 minutes, Chiswick in 10 minutes or Hammersmith in 20 minutes.
Within a 5 minute walk is the Victoria Gate entrance to Kew Botanical Gardens, UNESCO world heritage site.
Kew Gardens Village is also a five minute walk where you will find a StarBucks, The Glass House (a MIchelin starred restaurant), and a Tesco supermarket, and various smaller cafes, tea shops, restaurants and gift shops.
Recommended restaurants within a 10 minute walk include the following;
RaRa's (2 minute walk): Right over the road is RaRa's - delicious outstanding Nepalese restaurant in a smart modern restaurant - or you can order food to take away. (www.rara-kew.co.uk)
Montien (4 minute walk) a small privately owned Thai restaurant
The Glass House (5 minute walk) a outstanding fine dining Michelin starred restaurant (www.glasshouserestaurant.co.uk)

This property is a beautifully renovated flat, with lots of character, in a REALLY convenient location. The nearest shops and restaurants are a two minute walk away, Kew Parade which is a very cute, old fashioned shopping parade, containing over 30 shops, cafes and restaurants, is a five minute walk away.
Kew Gardens tube station and Overground station is a five minute walk which will you with Central London in 25 minutes or Covent Garden in 35 minutes.
The area of Kew Gardens is in West London and is regarded as one of the nicest, prettiest and most genteel.
There are plenty of tourist attractions nearby including: Kew Botanical Gardens, The National Archieves, Syon Park, Chiswick House and Park, The River Thames (you can walk along the tow path or take a boat ride along the river), Hampton Court Palace, Ham House (view the house or watch the Polo matches there in the summer) and Richmond Park the largest park in any European captial city.
Nothing was too much trouble for the owner when dealing with our family from the picking up of the keys to the returning of the deposit. I would have no trouble recommending this flat to anyone. The flat is easily accessible to Kew Gardens tube station, Kew Gardens and Kew Village and on a bus route. We had a wonderful stay.
A real home away from home! So clean and comfortable and great transport links with bus, tube and overland train. The kitchen was so well equipped and the bed was just so comfortable! All the finishes were of such high quality and Chris was always so helpful. I would highly recommend this flat as perfect accommodation for a london trip. Thanks again!
My husband and I enjoyed the Sandycombe flat a great deal for our three week stay this summer. It is in a wonderful location for visiting Kew, the river and theatres in Richmond, Hampton Court, and London. We even took the train quite easily from Kew Village to Great Missenden, home of Roald Dahl, for a lovely day out. The apartment itself is pleasantly furnished, and the bed is quite comfortable. Having the tube/train stop, grocery stores, the National Archives and the Royal Botanical Gardens all within a very short walk from the flat was convenient beyond measure, and the owners, Chris and Ailsa, are a delight to work with. Our stay was perfect from booking through to the day we needed to, reluctantly, leave, and we look forward to visiting again.
We wish we had chosen to stay more than 4 nights here, one of the nicest VRBO's we have experienced. The space accommodates two people well; the kitchen is well equipped and comfortable. We grew fond of the combination washer/dryer once we figured out the dryer feature. The bedroom and living room are spacious and pretty with a true hominess about them. Loved having books on the living room shelves, and local information brochures were available without our having to track them down in town. Pictures on the VRBO site are perfect! The location is lovely- the Thames walk, restaurants, grocery stores, Richmond, Ham House, and Kew Gardens, all within easy Tube connection to central London. One downside is the noise of many daytime planes approaching Heathrow.
We were pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the flat is. It is tasteful and decorated to a really high standard, and the rooms are large, especially the bedroom and sitting room and both the bed and sofa bed were really comfortable.
It has all of the mod cons we wanted; coffee maker, large tv, microwave etc, and a great walk in shower. My sons slept on the sofa bed and slept soundly - we had the bedroom and loved the sleigh bed - so comfortable.
We loved Kew, the flat is right in the centre of Kew, literally a minutes walk to the nearest shops and restaurants and seven minutes to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Great cafes and restaurants nearby, we recommend RaRa's indian restaurant and The Glass House - both excellent restaurants.
All in all a really great week in Kew and the owners were very, very helpful and charming. We'll be back
We (family of 4) spent 2 weeks holiday over Christmas and New Year in London- one of our best. Appartment is comfortable, well maintained and offers everything you may need. Kitchen is good-we have had our Christmas day and New Year day roast done there! The bedroom is very comfortable with nice bed which we appreciated after spending long shopping and sightseeing days out in London. The house is well located for visiting London and in a safe area. For those arriving with car (as with us). There is easy access from M 25 and is great for exploring counties west of London. Windsor is just 25 minutes drive via M4 (you drive out of London on empty road while everybody else tries to get into the city). There is a plenty of parking space just the opposite of the house. Chris, our landlord, was very helpful and although away for the Christmas he arranged everything so we could enjoy our stay without any worries. Booking, payment and communication went smoothly, without any problems. Shops for basics and couple of restaurants (Italian, Lebanese and fish & and chips) are just steps from the appartment. Tube station with nice pub Tap on the Line is just 5 minutes and the train takes you right to the heart of London. Overall there was nothing to complain about and we would recommend this appartment. Thank you, Chris, we had a great time in London and the Kews.
