The CocoHut is a nice, clean cottage that is just minutes away from Kauai’s beautiful North Shore beaches. Located on a lush one-acre property, the CocoHut is a perfect place to kick back and relax.
The cottage has one bedroom with a pillow-top queen size bed and one bathroom. There is a washer and dryer, full kitchen, dining area, and living room with comfy couches and flat screen TV with satellite service. We provide a Weber portable gas barbecue grill that you can use at the cottage. Or take it with you to the beach and enjoy a sunset barbecue. We also have beach chairs and towels for you to use while you are here.
The CocoHut is close to many North Shore beaches such as Pila’a, Rock Quarry, Secrets, Kalihiwai, Anini, and Hanalei Bay. There are also restaurants and shops nearby in Kilauea town and Princeville.
The one-acre property is shared with our family and pets. We are here if you have any questions or are just looking to get some ideas on where to go and what to see. We invite you to stay in the CocoHut on your next Kauai vacation.

It's a pleasant 1 be apartment with excellent cookware, excellent decorations, and a better washer dryer then I own It's not on te beach, but I you're looking to spend you're money on scuba hiking and planes it's stunner. Would reccomends. Would return. They should defonately charge more. We were never disturbed. Never saw another soul. Absolutely perfect romantic hideaway.
Only complaint would be that a fan in the dining room would be pleasant, but the price is lower than the value.
Bottom line is wowow
My husband and I stayed in Cocohut for two weeks in June. We usually prefer hotels and renting a cottage was a little bit scary for us. Everything turned out to be an excellent experience. It is a cozy little cottage (actually not too small for 2 persons) where you feel like home. It is very clean which is my first criteria considering a property to stay. There is a separate bedroom with plenty of shelves and storage space for your belongings. The living room and the bedroom have huge windows with view from " National geographic" pictures about tropical gardens. Both showers work perfectly. The location is great - 15 - 20 min to Kapa'a and, I believe, 30- 40 min to Kee beach in the North shore. We bought fruits and vegetables in local markets in Kilauea. My suggestions: keep the bathroom door opened otherwise it will be damp in this climate, and shut the front door every time you live the hut to prevent mosquitoes from sneaking inside. It is truly a paradise and owners provided everything for our comfortable stay. The jungles are really noisy in sunrise time and we could not sleep for couple nights, but I loved that experience! People, do not complain on sounds of nature- it is what we are suppose to hear- not sounds of traffic! Your nervous system will relax and adjust to it. We barely heard the birds by the end of our stay - only like a nice background. I would recommend the Cocohut to everybody who wants that jungle experience with all pluses of civilization.
Thank you Tim and Sarah
A big thank you to Sara and Tim for sharing there slice of paradise with us! It was a lovely retreat away from high traffic touristy areas.
The library of Kauai guides is fabulous, as is the collection of bird/plant books. It proved quite helpful when searching for things to see and do on the island.
My only suggestions would be to stock the bathroom with additional TP and to put blinds/drapes on the front door. Since the driveway is shared, it was a bit disconcerting walking from the bathroom to the bedroom in just a towel. That, combined with the lack of locks (us city-folk aren't use to honest, good natured people), made it difficult to feel like we had complete privacy.
My boyfriend and I were happy to stay at the Cocohut for our little 5-day trip to Kauai. Sarah greeted us when we got there and also sent us off - it was nice :) We also got stuck on the highway for 5.5 hours one night due to a big car accident on the highway (which is a two lane highway and basically the only main road - island living!), and when we texted Tim to see if there were alternative routes, he immediately called us back and gave us some suggestions for things to do while we waited for traffic to clear up. Long story longer, Tim and Sarah are great hosts.
The cottage itself is pretty no-frills. The couches are comfy and the TV is great. The washer/dryer were super nice to have - especially after a humid day of hiking! My only recommendations would be to add a microwave to the kitchen and possibly change the lighting to something softer/warmer (the dim fluorescent lighting made it feel a little sterile). But in general, it's a quiet, secluded spot that offers everything you would need for an island vacation. This includes a tandem kayak, beach chairs/towels, portable grill, and snorkeling gear.
The Cocohut is also in a great location for those who prefer the North Shore. It's close to a lot of beaches - I'd recommend you just look on a map and pick which one to go to. Hanalei is close, and if you don't have a way to take the tandem kayak with you, you can rent a kayak for the whole day at Kayak Hanalei (first kayak place you see when you get to Hanalei) for only $60. And you're also close to the Kalalau trail for some fun/rigorous hiking!
As far as restaurants, there aren't a huge variety of them, but you are extremely close to one of the best - The Bistro. We went three times - twice for dinner and once for happy hour - really, really great food. You'll also be close to Princeville where you can visit the gorgeous golf course, and I hear the happy hour at The Tavern is great too with a nice view. But if you just want to go to the grocery store and make your own meals, Foodland in Princeville is pretty convenient and decently priced.
All in all, it was a great trip, and we're glad we got to stay at the Cocohut!
My spouse and I are a young couple who spent 4 nights on this amazing property. The descriptions are accurate, the directions were easy, the location is perfect, it was clean and well stocked with everything you need for cooking and activities. We met Sara who was very welcoming and nice, Eric who was working on the property at the time who was also very informative and great to chat with. The dogs greeted us a few times which was great, as did ducks and roosters. We had no issues with the roosters in the AM, they were distant. We found the price to be very affordable for Kauai and was a perfect midway for visiting each side of the island. The outdoor shower is handy for when you are sandy, and we loved the drive in and out of the property. We had excellent privacy, even with no curtains on the sliding door the owners made us feel like we were in the middle of a jungle. It was perfect.
Our only complaints would be that it had rained hard prior to our arrival so the spiders hid in the kayak, the small flies and mosquitoes (who feasted on us every night) made their way inside, as did the ants in the kitchen. There were no issues after tidying up with lemon dish soap and keeping a fly swatter handy. The bedding and everything else was very damp due to the weather, thankfully there is a washer & drier. Keep very clean and keep the door shut and you will be fine. The hot water on demand system was a bit tricky, but works great for hot showers. So basically our only complaints were due to the weather and our cleanliness.
All in all, a great place to stay on Kauai. I would recommend this place to anyone. Mahalo Tim and Sara for having us! We had a wonderful time!
