Sol Palmas: a tropical oasis in paradise. We visit Aruba often, typically staying in the high rise area. We ventured into the world of villa rentals and were not disappointed. The villa is a nicely furnished island vacation home. You will find it difficult to leave the beautifully landscaped, walled in, pool area to venture out. Location! First timers to the island may find it a bit confusing to get around because, typical of any island, roads are not well marked. The villa is nicely located for trips to any kind of store or restaurant. It's only 5-10 min. to the beach. Our routine was to pool in the morning, pack a lunch, beach in the afternoon, pool at dusk, and then make the tough decision to cook and dine poolside or eat out at any of the many wonderful restaurants. The villa is in a “professional” and safe neighborhood (alarm system and safe). House rentals are not for those who are looking to be served and entertained, but rather for those who want to experience “living” among locals and truly “decompress” from their daily life (yes, with wifi & cable if you must). We did have concern that if a problem arose we might be on our own. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Aruba Living Today’s service was spot on. At one point we ran out of gas for the immaculately clean grill and 45 minutes later (late in the evening no less) a tank was delivered with a smile and an apology! We have run out of gas at a high rise timeshare hotel with a full staff and not gotten service that fast, let alone an apology. As long as you understand that you are renting a home, and that their won’t be turndown service, and you have to triangle fold the end of your own toilet paper you have found the perfect vacation villa. Our group had the most relaxing trip to Aruba we have ever experienced. Gone were the feelings of having to “do” everything the island offers for entertainment. We generally hung by the pool and chilled. It is heartbreaking to to make this recommendation because I know that John and Bobbie’s villa will become so popular that we may be turned away one day, but we can’t lie, this place is awesome. Just awesome. So if you are the high maintenance types, please do us a favor and stay at the hotels in your 24hr a day air conditioned cubical. Us, we will be turning off the a/c (except while sleeping), opening up the sliders, and letting the Aruba breeze fill the air and our hearts in this villa paradise. Thanks again Bobbie and John! Danki!
