Sanniti apartment is located in the heart of the old and characteristic San Lorenzo. Just a few minutes from Termini station, the San Lorenzo neighborhood is the location of La Sapienza University’s largest campus. The neighborhood’s character is largely lived by a sizable student population, which means that there are plenty of bars and music venues with a more alternative feel, numerous cheap restaurants and a number of used book and clothing stores. Historically a working class area, San Lorenzo has consequently long been off the traditional tourist route. While it may still look a little more run-down than Trastevere, San Lorenzo has become a popular place to go out. Wandering the streets, you’ll discover an intriguing and colorful (everything is covered in graffiti!) part of Rome that will teach you a lot more about the city’s culture – past and present – than many of the conventional tourist sites. The district, which is very lively and has a strong cultural identity, is full of interesting shops and eateries like handicraft shops, bookshop-cafes, pubs, wine bars, restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias. It is a quiet and safe neighborhood, in the evening becoming a crowded meeting place.
The apartment is situated on the top floor, with elevator, of a beautiful, newly restored 19th century building in Piazza dei Sanniti. It is made up of three spacious bedrooms, two of which overlook the square, one with a small balcony. The modern interior design combines elegance and functionality; each room, with different colors, has its own personality.
There are two bathrooms with shower (no tub). The kitchen and the dining area are well-designed and furnished with every appliance required for a pleasant stay, including washer, dishwasher, fridge with freezer, and electric kettle.
The apartment has air-conditioning in every room, wi-fi internet connection, LCD TV, satellite decoder, DVD/DivX player, portable stereo, hair-dryer, iron and ironing board. Baby crib available on request.
We were three adults and two kids 9 (11 and 15) who stayed in the Sanniti apt for one week.
-Three nice bedrooms
-Larger than usual refrigerator and pantry
-Interesting area that we would have liked to explore more for
-Air conditioning in each room
-Reasonable priced grocery stores and fruit market nearby
-ATM across street
-Nearby public transportation. Eight minute walk to #71 bus,
15 to 20 minute ride to train station bus hub to get another
bus to destination.
-Cramped eating area, no living room. Best for visitors (unlike
us) who eat most of their meals out.
-No microwave oven
-One bathroom had a persistent odor
-Area around kitchen sink was a black, asphalt like material,
that was unattractive and hard to clean.
-Was much more expensive than similar apartments that we
rented for a week each in Venice and Florence
-Limited TV channels. We were unable to see the Germany
vs Argentina soccer championship match. But, two minutes
from the apt is a inexpensive local restaurant/bar with great
food (23 euros to feed all of us) where we watched the game.
Had we found this place earlier we would have eaten there
-Gasket on front-loading washing machine was moldy and we
didn't want to use it.
Me and my family had a home away from home here. Its ideally situated near train and bus stations. The grocery store downstairs was a big plus. Rooms were beautifully furnished and well air-conditioned. Kitchen was fully equipped with lot of extra conveniences. The owner was very helpful in making our stay pleasant. We would recommend this place highly. It was absolutely money's worth.
