KING SIZE BED. WOOD STOVE. CLOSE TO HIKING TRAILS & TWO RIVERS

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cabin in Harrisonburg - Cliffside Cabin Rawley Springs

1 King Size Bed (loft/studio style bedroom), 1 bathroom, sleeps up to 6

HOMEAWAY HAS CHANGED THEIR POLICIES: KIDS ARE NOW BEING CHARGED THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW OPTION. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR KIDS UNDER 18. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW, JUST PUT THE NUMBER OF ADULTS. ADD A NOTE OF HOW MANY KIDS THERE ARE AND WE WILL CHANGE IT IN THE RESERVATION. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO BOOK IT YOURSELF AND NOT HAVE THE EXTRA FEES.

Please read the entire description.

Cliffside Cabin is a cute rustic cabin set in the mountains of Virginia. This is a real cabin built almost 75 years ago... so it will have a real cabin feel. It was originally built as a Summer cottage.

We bought this cabin in December 2012. The front of the cabin is not as cute as we would like it to be yet (we don't like the red painted wood), but we will be making improvements here to it as we are able (since it is booked during almost all the weekdays which doesn't allow us to make any improvements). We believe the inside of the cabin is super cute already though and the setting is certainly beautiful with lots of hiking trails, biking, fishing and outdoor adventures to be had nearby.

Cliffside Cabin also has a nice size deck as well as a screen porch (which will be completely redone as soon as we can). The screen is rather old and dirty currently). Please note that there is another cabin on each side of this cabin, though currently one is vacant.

There is a king size bed in the bedroom (studio style). The floor plan is open (loft/studio style), but there is a curtain that can be closed in the bedroom for privacy if multiple people are staying. There is also a cute loft with sleeping for older kids, teenagers or the fun loving adult that has two single mattresses and full size futon mattresses. There is a ladder going up into the loft which is probably most suitable for kids over 5 years old.

Pets are welcome but we do require a pet fee.

Cliffside Cabin is a great place to see the stars. On clear nights, you can see thousands of stars overhead. It is a beautiful sight. Also during the spring and summer months, you can see humming birds everywhere. We place feeders off the front porch of the house and have personally seen upwards of 20 birds at one time at our cabins here in Rawley Springs.

Checking is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11 am.

Pets are welcome at all of our properties. If you or someone in your group is allergic to pets or allergic to anything else (detergent, air fresheners, etc), please let us know in advance so we can discuss this prior to your booking and then also prior to your arrival.

This cabin has a floor model a/c in the living room. There is also a ceiling fan and central heat which allows the fan to be run and circulate air throughout the cabin nicely.

About Katie & Steven Robert Jones

We moved here from Texas so that I could complete my college degree at Bridgewater College and my wife is full time teacher. We have one daughter, Anna Kate, who is three and second daughter Abigail was just born this January. We also have 8 rescue dogs and 2 cats who love to hike with us on all the trails and swim in the two rivers within walking distance of the house.

Katie & Steven Robert Jones purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Katie & Steven Robert Jones chose Harrisonburg

We bought this property because it is close to our other vacation properties. We really like this cabin because it has a lot of rustic charm. It is very cozy and we love the loft, the screen porch and deck. The mountain views are great here in Winter when the leaves are gone. The Spring brings all sorts of birds including lots of Hummingbirds.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin has a cute loft. There is a screened in porch with mountain views in the Winter when the leaves are gone across the side and front of the cabin.

It was peaceful, cute, and quaint. We loved it!

The hospitality was exceptional and the environment was very relaxing.
It works great as a couple's getaway (which is what we used it for) but would also be awesome for families with the cool upstairs loft.
It had a great location… outside of town for the peace and quiet, but close enough to town for the conveniences.
It had beautiful scenery and cool places for adventure.
Thank you Steve and Katie… you took great care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay and it will definitely not be our last!

Very nice owners. Clean, basic, and comfortable with all the necessities. Wi-Fi was a plus! Enjoyed the screened porch. Close to everything we wanted to do. Great location. We even got a new coffee pot! Thank you for our very nice vacation.

Cozy cabin; perfect study haven.

  • 5 out of 5
Another perfect getaway to the woods! I have now used Steven and Katie’s properties numerous times over the past two and half years as a place for quiet rest and reflection. With spring weather warming, I opened up all of the windows and filled the cabin with fresh mountain air (or I just sat out on the screened in porch and took in the views).

The location of Cliffside Cabin is close enough to “civilization” to get basic needs, but just enough removed to feel isolated and have peace and quiet. Steven and Katie always have the property clean and open for my arrival (and have some fresh eggs in the fridge from their chickens!). They then are willing to go out of their way to provide any needed accommodations and attentive and quick to respond to an email or call. This cabin has ample space for multiple guests and has a big comfy bed surrounded by windows to let in the morning light. It also has a fully equipped kitchen for cooking all of my meals, and a great coffee maker for a morning cup on the porch.

Great hiking close by; I drove a couple of miles for a 1.5 mile hike to a fire watch tower on the VA/WV state line. This moderate hike rewarded me with magnificent views in every direction.

Overall, ZERO COMPLAINTS. I got exactly what I was looking for--a quiet getaway with beautiful scenery and a feeling of escape. These owners have worked hard to create a special experience in Rawley Springs--one which I plan to return to in the future.

Quiet, delightful cabin!

  • 5 out of 5
My wife and I spent several nights in the cabin, using it as a base for our exploration of western Virginia (from Harper's Ferry to Charlottesville). The owners were attentive and gracious, the cabin clean and well appointed (with a kitchen that had everything but a crock pot!). Would recommend to others and hope to return for an anniversary trip.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 out of 5
My boyfriend and I booked this cabin for a fall birthday getaway and it was just perfect! Someone before us wrote that the cabin was musty and hard on allergies, and I disagree -- that wasn't our experience at all. I have serious allergies and had no problem there, and the cabin smelled like cedar, lavender (from the clean linens) , and wood fire (when the fireplace was running). It was delicious!

The cabin itself is on a beautiful hill and it is so cozy. Katie and Steven are awesome hosts - they greeted us personally at the cabin, showed us the ropes inside and out, and gave us eggs from their own chickens for our breakfasts! The fireplace made the cabin cozy on the cool evenings, and we had everything we needed to cook several meals in the kitchen.

Our hosts suggestion to go to Union Station Restaurant was right on -- we ended up eating there twice over the four days. The cabin is hidden away from the hustle of Harrisonburg, but close enough to town that we had no problem running back and forth each day. It's also close to lots of great hiking -- we trekked through Paul State Forest and Shenandoah River National Park while we were there!

The price is amazing, and I think you get far more than you bargain for with this cabin. We couldn't have been happier and we will definitely be back!
