This property with the two houses on it was too good to pass up. It is a beautiful and enchanted location. Honestly the property picked me. I walked in with a real estate client and instantly knew this was going to be my home.
Peace and quiet, Beauty of nature, This Property is Enchanted! You will feel so at home here.
There is nothing to say, except WOW! If you like the country and nature, this is the place to be. The hosts were accommodating and non-intrusive. There is plenty to see and do within 30 minutes to 1 hour. The bungalow is amazing, restful and beautiful.
I can hardly call this house a bungalow; its larger than my own house. The history of this house, the architecture and the furnishings all work together to make this a truly unique vacation house. It is a multi-level house with 5-7 steps between each level. The kitchen is on the first level, with parking right by the door for easy unloading of groceries. The owners use the kitchen for family gatherings, so it really does have everything you need to cook anything. We had to move a few things aside to make room for our groceries. The old wood-burning stove, large kitchen table and farm sink add ambiance. Cooking is done on a modern electric stove. There is no dishwasher, but we weren't expecting one. The next level is up 4-5 steps and has two doors to the front of the house, a bedroom with a sitting area, and a full bath. The bed is queen size and very comfortable, the sitting area has a sofa and chairs around a fireplace. The room has two walls with windows that are diamond-pane casement windows, and there is a floor to ceiling bookshelf. This was our favorite room. Up another 7 steps is the main floor, with a large bedroom, bathroom and a huge living room/dining room. The furniture in these rooms are a combination of antiques that lend a very homey look. Check out the decorations in this room to find all sorts of collectibles. This room has French doors on two sides, and a fireplace that you could walk into. The bathroom on this level opens into the hall and bedroom, it has a step in tub/shower. The sink has not been upgraded - but why would you want it to be? The toilet has its own little room for privacy. The bedroom has several chests, a dressing table and a huge bow window. The bed is a Queen and is super comfy. It only has a bed table on one side, but I borrowed a table and lamp from the big room and I was good to go for reading. Everything was clean, and their were lots of towels. The owners live on the property and the house is next door. They made sure we felt welcome and that we had everything we needed, but they were very gracious about giving us privacy and quiet. Of course we did chat with them, and they are very charming people. We are birdwatchers and we walked through the fields and woods every day where we saw lots of birds and animals. We traveled in all 4 directions to visit state parks, lake Ontario and many small towns. The grocery store was 10 minutes away, and Wegmans was 30 minutes away. We hated to leave.
We had a great time away from home and enjoyed the friendly welcome we got on arrival at the house. The house is well located close to the Letchworth Park and Darien Lake Theme Park which our family enjoyed very much. The home is very roomy, clean and comfortable with everything provided. We strolled the private grounds located across the road from the 'bungalow' with pond, trails and fields full of wild flowers.
We had a three week holiday to explore New York State and Canada Ontario. We rented various hotels, apartments and houses. Not only was this house the best we rented, but also New York state has the best to offer. From all the state park we visited (we are hikers and love nature) we really enjoyed all the waterfalls in New York state. The hospitality offered by Julie and her husband was enormous. With the right balance were it comes to 'privacy'. We felt as we were family. We have a family of five (2, 7, and 10 year old). We has a great bon fire. We spend an afternoon at the pond and we even could borrow their trikes to cross around their big estate. Off course one can not claim this as a standard service, but in our case it some how fitted in the flow of the things we were doing and they were doing. The kids adored the bungalow. If you appreciate original brick stone and wooden floors and a decoration that goes with preserving the begin 1900 look and feel you should rent this bungalow. Our kids and I loved it!
Our stay at the "BF Bungalow" was fine. The pictures that were online were totally accurate, so we kind of knew what to expect ahead of time. The layout of the home was a bit different than what we expected and the historic nature of the building made it all the more interesting. It was clean and well kept. It was well lit with adequate lighting everywhere and it was well stocked with all the essentials. The grounds were fantastic!
We had a great time at the bungalow, Bob & Julie were great hosts and the grounds were very peaceful and quiet. Lots to do in that area and Julie can give some great ideas for things to do. If we are ever out there again this would be the place to stay fof us.
