YOUR RETREAT IN THE HEART OF THE CINQUE TERRE

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Corniglia - CASA PREVO

Stone Cottage with sweeping terraces and spectacular uninterrupted ocean views

A holiday at Casa Prevo in the Cinque Terre Italy will provide you with lasting memories of this spectacular environment. Discover for yourselves the secrets of this enchanting UNESCO World Heritage region – but don’t wait too long for magic awaits you.

Set amongst ancient olive trees and vineyard, Casa Prevo comprises first floor bedroom with Queen size bed, and well-appointed modern ensuite bathroom with shower. Ground floor hosts a modern well equipped kitchen with dining area and couch. Stunning spiral staircase leads to the bedroom above. Casa Prevo has been tastefully renovated, sympathetic with the history of this ancient cottage.

Relaxing terraced garden with superb outdoor dining and barbecue area with stunning views to Corniglia and Manarola.

As Casa Prevo is situated on a hillside, accessed by a series of steps and the walking track we would recommend prudence be exercised with regard to the amount of luggage you travel with, and also the level of mobility for each member of your party.

For those adventurous travellers wishing to explore this magical region by foot or those who simply want a peaceful haven to relax and unwind, Casa Prevo is the ideal piece of paradise to do so.

Casa Prevo is perfect for couples or solo travellers only. We are not situated in a village and a 30 minute moderate walk is required to reach either Corniglia or Vernazza. We can only accommodate 2 guests at any one time. Strictly no smoking inside and no pets allowed.

Heaven on earth

This is such a special spot, like nowhere we've ever been or stayed. Two foot thick stone walls, beautiful garden, spectacular view and wonderful location. We can't say enough about this little gem. Susan was so friendly, helpful & easy to deal with and she was quick to respond to any questions prior to our arrival. It's been hard to decide if we wanted to share this place. It's definitely not for everyone. About a 45 minute hike either direction to Corniglia or Vernazza. We hiked in the mornings, had lunch in the towns of the Cinque Terre, shopped for dinner & cooked at home. We enjoyed shopping & talking with the butcher & such friendly helpful people in all the shops. It could not have been more perfect, and so romantic. Beautiful linens, great bed & bedding. Spotlessly clean. The neighbor met us at the train & got us within 100 yards with our luggage, and when we left he got us back to the train as well. Be sure you visit all the towns of the Cinque Terre. They are easily accessed by trail, train or boat, try them all. This area is so amazing, absolutely a slice of heaven. Thank you for everything Susan. We would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return.

Every Morning in Paradise

  • 5 out of 5
We woke up from another crisp, cool & totally quiet night during our week's stay overlooking the trail and amazing blue Mediterranean. Everything here glistens & I remember the feeling of crystal clarity. August is hot, but Casa Prevo built into the rocks, cools off at night with 2 foot thick walls & ceiling fan. This is the experience of being on the highest point on the trail midway between Corniglia & Vernazza behind the only private gate-very private place. Great patio. House was extremely clean & tidy. New high-end bathroom & amenities for comfort & simple elegance in the middle of an amazing UNESCO World Heritage site. We have traveled a lot & this was a very rare experience where views & animals are protected. The view from the house is absolutely spectacular. We are avid hikers & this was a perfect spot-not for sedentary people. 10 min hike up to road is also steep. 30-40 minutes down to the best city of Corniglia-our fav & the least touristy-a lovely town. Down the steps in town for a swim. Guvano beach maybe, but very hard to get to. We avoided crowed ferry scene

Owner very helpful & reliable with excellent communication. She cares about this place & it shows. The location (with the cute, historic stone house) is what is so important here and after a hike up the trail to be able to enter through your own gate feels very special. Trail empty till mid-morning and one can people watch on the trail 12 feet below (no one knows this place is even there) or ocean gaze for hours.

We shopped in Corniglia at a friendly store, cooked most of our food, but also ate at the restaurant next to the steps down to the train with great view & food. Gelato Ice cream in town! Best (but very vigorous) hike was upper trail from Corniglia to Manarola & ate lunch at Tratorria dal Billy. Views walking through vineyards was marvelous & don't miss the grotto with spring. Volastra cute town. Monterosso restaurant Via Venti was really excellent. Beach there charges for umbrellas although free beach also.

Car travel OK, just be careful. A stop on the way to the house in La Spezia at Trattoria Byrons perhaps (it closes at 2:00 on Saturdays) You should come here to hike, experience history and nature, & get away. Lower trail still closed below Corniglia-they say open "soon". Other trails in excellent condition & not that crowded. Entry fee station at Corniglia.

Stunning? Magical? YES, & I recommend Casa Prevo, for those that can appreciate something special.

Close to heaven

  • 5 out of 5
When we arrived at Casa Prevo the spring sun was out and the birds were singing. Whilst the property is tucked away in quite a private setting, the detailed instructions provided by Susan ahead of our arrival helped us find our way there. The friendly neighbour Pier helped us with our overflowing shopping bags of wine, pasta and vine rippened tomatoes. Bringing your own food to cook is a must - not only because the rustic inspired (but brand new) kitchen will trigger the Italian chef in you, but also because you will want to be tucked away from the crowds in the evenings (as well as avoiding walking the trail path back from the towns at night).

The house itself was so intimate and cosy - it had most everything we wanted for a romantic get away. Exposed stone walls, white washed floorboards and tasteful linen/decor was a novel change from the generic, box size tiled apartments found throughout most of Cinque Terre. Two european doors opened from the bedroom onto the private garden, and another window upstairs looked out to the ocean. It really felt like you were on the edge of heaven. The outside terrace served as a second living space, with views of the ocean and surrounding towns. During the day, the sun was warm but being early May, not burning on the skin. Fragrant flowers in the garden mustered up childhood memories of playing in the backyard, and the family of fire flies that arrived each evening made it quite a magical scene. If my husband hadn't already proposed, here would be the place to do it!

Whilst you really need to walk the trail to get into the towns, the hiking is not hard - it's actually quite relaxing and with breathtaking views along the way, never dull. Once you get into one town, you can train between all five. We didn't have wifi in the house, but that forced us to relax and actually read the books we brought along on our holiday. When we needed to check emails, the 30 minute walk to Corniglia was easy and we found a cafe, Caffe Matteo, that had free wifi and good coffee.

Susan and team have put a lot of love into this little cottage on the cliffs of Prevo and you can feel it every day of your stay. It is private enough for it to feel like your own little paradise, but you don't feel isolated or scared, as it is very secure and your neighbours are only a few minutes away if any emergencies arise. It really was the best mix of everything. We will return one day soon.

CASA PREVO MAGICAL CINQUE TERRE

  • 5 out of 5
My partner and I have recently stayed at the wonderful Casa Prevo cottage on the Cinque Terre in Northern Italy. I must say that the week we stayed there would rank amongst the most magical of any sojourn we have spent anywhere in the world. We have enjoyed a considerable amount of time travelling through Italy over the years, and the Cinque Terre stands out as a very special region. The views from Casa Prevo which is situated just above the town of Vernazza are simply breathtaking. We spent many happy hours in the terraced garden drinking in the views which are so spectacular, we had to pinch ourselves to believe we were not actually dreaming. The property affords uninterrupted views to the vastness of the Mediterranean Sea as well as to some of the villages which make up the Cinque Terre clinging precariously to the cliffs just above the sea. The cottage itself has been recently and beautifully renovated with tasteful touches of country elegance and charm. It's location just above the famous Blue Walking Track offers the ultimate in privacy. Everything has been thought of here to ensure guests comfort and enjoyment. I would thoroughly recommend Casa Prevo if you are looking for a very special holiday in an absolutely idyllic setting.

Tolles Haus, tolle Lage

  • 5 out of 5

The Cinque Terre is one of Italy's most unique treasures. Also known as the Five Lands, these five extraordinary fishing villages, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore look today as they did thousands of years ago. Built into the mountainside, they cling to a rocky coastline, pastel coloured houses virtually stacked on top of each other, joined by narrow crooked streets, leading to the sea. The Cinque Terre became a Unesco World Heritage site in 1997, which also protects the marine area and was declared a national park (Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre) in 1999. Cars and motorbikes are not allowed in the villages, which are connected by train (about 5 minutes apart) and amazing narrow ancient mule paths called 'Sentiero Azzurro' which means the Blue Trail. This stunning track spans 12 kilometres in its entirety and is dotted with sun baked terraces of vines, and ancient olive groves.
