Very Nice Place, Great Neighborhood

  • 5 out of 5
Highly recommended place to stay while in the DC area. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The building is first class. My son's used the pool and the weight room. They were more than satisfied. The neighborhood was very nice. There were numerous shops, cafe's and restaurnats within walking distance. There was even a first rate pizza joint in the building.

We walked to the Metro each day to do into the District. Its a long walk so if you are not up to it, there is a Metrobus that stops right across the street from the building.

Check in and check out were a breeze. Depending who was on duty at the time, the concierge was not the most knowledgeable. That was the only complaint, if you want to call it that, that we had.

Excellent Value for Families Seeking More Space in DC Area

  • 5 out of 5
My family (husband, wife, kids aged 9 and 12) just returned from this property two days ago. We couldn't wait to write a review - that tells you something about the quality of this apartment. We selected this property based on the other reviews - we found this apartment to be exactly as listed by the other reviewers.

It was clean, well-appointed and very spacious for a family of four. A few comments to help you decide if this is the place for you:

- We found the walk to the Metro station to be 15 - 20 minutes, depending on how briskly you walked and the number of red lights encountered. You can shorten this walk by taking the 9S Metro bus (stop is right outside the Concord's door) to a stop about 2 blocks from the Metro station.

-We did not find a grocery store within walking distance. We had a car, so this wasn't a huge deal. One reviewer mentioned a Target that was about a 20 minute walk. We did pass by this Target on our drive out of town - my impression is that it's longer than that.

-The fold-out bed in the living room is functional, but very lumpy. If it's important to have that third place to sleep (and the person would be bothered by feeling mattress coils) this might not be the best place for you.

The rental agent Jackie Miller was extremely responsive and helpful, as were the onsite concierges at The Concord. We would absolutely rent this property again; it was everything we could hope for in a rental apartment.

Stay here -- No, Really, PICK THIS ONE

  • 5 out of 5
We traveled to D.C. by train from Boston for February vacation with our 8, 10, and 15 year old kids. When we unlocked the door to the unit, all they could say was, "Wow!" The unit is gorgeous, with a floor to ceiling view of the city. The place was spotless and spacious - even with five of us, we weren't tripping over each other at all. Everything we needed to make breakfast was available (dishes, utensils, coffeemaker), and the bathrooms were so well stocked with soaps and towels, it was better than any hotel. There's even a washer and dryer. We could have used the two walk-in closets for extra bedrooms!

When we weren't walking around D.C., it was easy to relax in the unit, as there were 3 flat screen TVs with cable, and free wireless. There's also a heated lap pool (3 1/2 feet deep) which was perfect for the little kids to play in. There's also a fitness room and a yoga studio in the building. Oh, and a Starbucks, too. And although it's a residential building, it was very quiet.

It was about a 10-15 minute easy walk from the Crystal City Metro station, which is on the Blue and Yellow lines, but a lot of the walking you could do inside, as there are sort of underground shopping malls with restaurants and shops that run for blocks. Although it might look like it's out of the way, judging by a map, we actually could get into the District within 30 minutes, start to finish, and we even got off a few stops early one day to visit Arlington National Cemetery. (We recommend getting Metro rail/bus passes, because you won't need a car.) There are also a ton of restaurants on the street, from Chik-Fil-A to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. We were able to ride into D.C. every day, walk around until we were exhausted, and then grab dinner to take back and relax all evening.

The location was totally convenient, even though we didn't have a car. There was a CVS about two blocks away (with a good grocery section), and a huge 24 hour supermarket (and a massive mall with a Target and a cinema) about a 20 minute walk away. Our older son even got to play basketball at the LA Fitness on a day pass.

Really, I can't think of anything negative to say about this unit, either in terms of amenities or location. It was everything advertised, and more, and definitely well worth the price. We had no issues, no problems, and if we take another vacation to D.C., this will be our first choice. Absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough.

The Concord was a great find. The unit is on the 16th floor of a really nice buidling. It is beautiful and well lit. Nice furniture, granite countertops, tvs in living room and both bedrooms. Split bedroom design so lots of privacy. In unit washer and dryer is stackable but full size. They thought of everything. There was laundry supplies, dishwasher supplies, coffee and tea, and perfumed soaps, shampoo and conditioner. All you need to bring are personal items and food. The area around the condo is upscale and very safe. Restaurants range from average to high priced. Other restaurants are a mile or so down the road as well as a Supertarget for groceries. The location was great for sightseeing. Metro stop a few blocks away but we found the proximity to the expressways made it easy to drive around the area. The parking was very convenient and there was always spots to be found. Front desk helpful. Check in and out was a breeze. We would definitely stay again. Having such a great place to stay made our visit one to be remembered.

Very Nice Stay

  • 4 out of 5
This unit is on the 16th floor of a brand new building, and is very nicely appointed and VERY CLEAN. Den/dining/kitchen area is roomy and well laid-out. Full kitchen has granite countertops, plenty of dishes, and all the tools necessary for cooking. There is a balcony, but it is small (nowhere to sit) and only looks out over a patch of grass behind the building, so it's mainly good for a little fresh air. Windows run floor-to-ceiling, so there is plenty of light. Female guests will appreciate the perfumed soaps and shampoos. Dishwasher detergent and laundry supplies were also provided -- very helpful.

The building seems well-designed in that it is very QUIET. Not once during our weeklong stay did we hear noises coming from adjoining or upstairs units. It feels like you have the whole place to yourself. Building is secure in that electronic fob is required for entry to the lobby. Parking is included in rent and located onsite in parking garage directly accessible from condo building -- no need to go outside to get your car. The pool is located inside a glass-ceilinged pool house, so if you take the kids to swim during warm weather, be prepared to roast unless you get in the water with them. On the condo roof, there is a neat observation deck with great views of Reagan National Airport and, off to the north, downtown Washington. Great place to watch the planes take off and land as the sun sets.

The walk to the Crystal City Metro station is about four blocks and takes 15 minutes or so. It is sidewalked the whole way, mainly flat (except for the last block), and takes you past restaurants and office buildings. Not a bad walk if the weather is good. Neighborhood is very upscale and safe, so no worries about walking around. Alternately, you can take a Metro bus from the condo building to the station, if you want to wait for a bus and pay the extra fare (we didn't do this).

The Crystal City Shops offer various restaurants, although most are high-end, pricewise. There are many affordable alternatives within a mile or two by car, particularly a bit south in Alexandria.

The only negative we found with the unit -- and the reason for the four stars instead of five -- is that the mattresses and pillows are low-quality and uncomfortable. Not a big deal for some, maybe, but we were stiff every morning. Even something as simple as a memory foam mattress topper would help tremendously. The owners should look into improving this situation.
