Inside Plaza de la Independencia. Only 150 feet to Parque del Retiro´s main entrance. The so called “Golden Mile”, is at the beginning of Serrano Street where the most fashionable and elegant shops in Madrid are concentrated, right next to the Plaza. Short walking distance to El Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen museums, Cibeles, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Huertas, Malasaña, Chueca……all these within a mile walk. No need for car or public transportation. It’s located right in the heart of the city, very close to all major attractions and right between the most exclusive neighborhoods in Madrid City: Salamanca and Jeronimos. They both are clean, safe and quiet at night. Nightlife is just crossing Castellana Street. The area is lively during the day as there are many restaurants, cafés, terraces, bars and shops nearby.
This architecturally protected building is from 1880. It’s quite a restored antique under its original façade.
Has five big double bedrooms. Two include balconies which overview Plaza de la Independencia. While four of them include en-suite bathrooms, there´s a fifth complete bathroom that is used as a large guest WC too. There are also two more balconies to the Plaza at the main living room.
Kitchen and dining-room are 377 and 280 square feet respectively. They are fully equipped. The living room can comfortably accommodate twelve people. The kitchen has room for eight more, which makes it ideal for children or short meals.
All rooms have AC, even some bathrooms. It’s recently equipped and reformed - Feb 2013-to meet the highest comfort standards while respecting all the characters of a XIX century property. Keeps high ceilings, classic ceiling molding, big doors and windows, old wooden floors, hydraulic tile and of course, extensive open areas. Most ceilings are almost 13 feet tall.
The rest of the rooms are enormous too; living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms as well. Kitchen and bathrooms are brand new, custom built, king sized and finished with continuous polished micro-cement.
The flat is directly managed by the owner to ensure quality of service and to offer a competitive price for probably the best vacation flat in the city.
Late check out and early check in are available free when possible. If not they need to be set at 12am and 4pm respectively
Please note views from the balconies can change during the year because the trees at the Plaza grow their leaves out. It turns into a green view of London Plane leaves which helps keeping the flat cooler in the summer.

We traveled from Minnesota with 3 families (6 adults and 6 children) for our spring break vacation. Puerta De Alcala was the first stop of our two week trip and it was absolutely perfect! Great location, wonderful hosts, and a really nice layout for a larger group. We can't wait to go back again.
We were 5 academicians doing research in the nearby museums. We loved the flat. Very spacious and elegant, with an ideal location. Close to museums. Beautiful park across the street. There was a minor booking problem that was quickly and graciously addressed by Fernando to our complete satisfaction. I would love to rent this flat again and again.

The home was gorgeous and beautifully decorated and in a perfect location for enjoying the city. Fernando, the home owner, was super friendly, helpful, and quick to respond to our questions. He met us promptly at the flat to show us around (yes, it is really 5200 sq. feet) and responded to emails within minutes. Everything was exactly as advertised. We would all stay there again anytime. Strongly recommend!
It is extremely spacious. Definitely 5200 sqft. Could comfortably sleep 10-12 people. We only had five in our group (two couples and one single). We each had a large bedroom with our own spacious sitting area and full bath. Two of the bedrooms we did not use. The best thing besides the luxurious space was the location. The apartment is situated in one of the best central locations in Madrid. Right outside the door is Puerta de Alcala. You can walk everywhere! About 25 Euros and 30 minutes gets you to the place by taxi from the airport. Fernando was right on everything. We had two minor issues which he resolved immediately - a light switch which was replaced within a half hour and key issue which he fixed immediately. The floors are a little squeaky, but no matter. The doors are original 1800s and are a little tricky, but the magic of this space overrides any minor issue or inconvenience. There were towels, hair dryer, and the kitchen was great. Nescafe machine, microwave, washer and dryer were all a plus. This is a vacation rental so it really feels like your own space. This was a five star experience! We will definitely be coming back. I recommend for anyone wanting to experience Madrid in style.
