New York City has an aura of its own that is unmatched by any other city in the world. It is not just the melting pot of cultures due to its high number of immigrant population but also a center of fashion, arts, movies, theatre, finance and commerce. If you are planning a visit to the Big Apple then do not miss visiting these places.

Midtown Manhattan, or simply Midtown, is a geographic area of Manhattan, New York City. It is home to some of the city's most iconic buildings, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the United Nations Headquarters. It contains world-famous commercial zones such as Rockefeller Center, Broadway, and Times Square.

Geographically, Midtown is commonly defined as the area south of 59th Street, east of the Hudson River, west of the East River, and though its southern border is less clear, most consider it to be somewhere between 14th Street and 30th Street. Overall, Manhattan can be divided into three geographic regions: 'Uptown', Midtown, and 'Downtown'.

As New York's largest central business district, Midtown Manhattan is the busiest single commercial district in the United States, and among the most intensely used pieces of real estate in the world. The majority of New York City's skyscrapers, including its tallest hotels and apartment towers, lie within Midtown. The area hosts commuters and residents working in its offices, hotels, and retail establishments; many tourists, visiting residents, and students populate the district. Some areas, such as Times Square and Fifth Avenue, have large clusters of retail stores. Sixth Avenue in Midtown holds the headquarters of three of the four major television networks. It is a growing center of finance, second in importance within the United States only to Downtown Manhattan's Financial District. Times Square is the center of Broadway theater.

Times Square:

Is the heart of Manhattan and its entertainment hub. The theater district of Broadway is nearby and there are many cinemas, restaurants, shopping malls and parks. You will need to spend at least one evening to capture the essence of this place.

United Nations: Is a distinctive complex in New York City, United States, that has served as the official headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1952. It is located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Manhattan, on spacious grounds overlooking the East River. Its borders are First Avenue on the west, East 42nd Street to the south, East 48th Street on the north and the East River to the east. Turtle bay is used as a synonym for the U.N. headquarters or for the U.N. as a whole.

Metropolitan Museum of Art:

Probably the most popular museum in New York City, the Met holds a treasure trove of artifacts, paintings and sculptures, among other items. You will be dazzled with the history that exudes from every column of this museum.

Central Park: Is the heart of Manhattan and provides you with the essential breathing space. You can laze around; enjoy boating in the lake or watch public performances in the open air theater. Frequently displayed and referenced in popular films and television shows, Central Park is arguably one of the most famous parks in the world. According to the Central Park Conservancy, more than 35 million people a year visit the park, which is located in Central Manhattan. Central Park measures 843 acres and six miles around and includes seven bodies of water, lawns and wooded areas. The park is open year-round. Available activities include playgrounds, bicycling, baseball and bird watching. Common tourist destinations within the park include Belvedere Castle, Charles A. Dana Discovery Center and the Conservatory Garden.

Empire State Building:

Since opening in 1931, the Empire State Building has received 120 million visitors, according to NYC Tourist. A world-renowned fixture of New York City's skyline, the 1,453-foot skyscraper is located on Fifth Avenue and 34th Street in midtown Manhattan. The skyscraper features observatories on the 86th floor and the 102nd floor. Glass-enclosed high-speed elevators lead up to the outdoor promenades around the building where visitors can use high-powered binoculars. No visit to New York City is complete without ascending the 102 stories of the Empire State Building. There is a large viewing deck on the top that offers commanding views of all five boroughs and the neighbor state of New Jersey.

East Village:

This trendy Manhattan neighborhood is filled with chic art galleries, night club hotspots, world-famous restaurants, shopping and museums, public displays and theaters. Spend an afternoon strolling the local neighborhoods and attractions such as Nolita, Chinatown, Little Italy, Canal Street and New York University (NYU). You can admire the upscale boutiques or enjoy the East Village's excellent cafes. This bohemian center of New York attracts millions of tourists. The area is also popular for its vibrant nightlife.

Rockefeller Center:

Located in the center of Midtown is a complex of nineteen commercial buildings spanning 22 acres and located between Fifth Avenue (shopper’s paradise) and Sixth Avenue. Best known for its Christmas tree', 'Top of the Rock' observation deck and 'Radio City Music Hall' home of the Rockettes, is a great New York destination for all visitors any time of the year.

Statue of Liberty:

One of New York City's most iconic landmarks, the Statue of Liberty welcomes thousands of visitors each day. Located on an island in the waters of the Upper New York Bay, visitors can only access the monument by ferry. A colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor designed by Frédéric Bartholdi. A gift from France on October 28, 1886 is of a robed female representing Liberties, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence. A broken chain lies at her feet..

Highly Recommend Staying here!

  • 5 out of 5
I was a little scared about booking a place through VRBO but I was very pleased when I arrived! I stayed here with four other girls (imagine that) for my 30th birthday.Although it was a little tight, we managed to make it work. The apartment's cleanliness helped the situation also! If you're looking for a great place to stay that's within walking distance to nice restaurants and close to drug stores, this is the place to be! I also received my down payment in a timely manner!

Fantastic holiday & great apartment

Fantastic holiday & great apartment
  • 5 out of 5
Apartment was ideal in the heart of mid town - a brilliant fun area with lots of restaurants & bars . We had a very warm welcome from housekeeping , who couldn't have been more helpful .

Air con was effective & needed on those hot days . Recommend a drink in Bull & Bear pub part of Waldorf Astoria , minutes walk away .

Only downside , don't expect too much from roof terrace unless you are a gymnast !! It is ladders from the ceiling & potentially dangerous . We chose not to use it . That said , we will definitely use this apartment again & recommend to friends .

Lyn , Alasdair , Jacob & Adam Black 22/ 06 14 for 1 week .

Well maintained apartment in excellent location

  • 5 out of 5
Perfect location of apartment in a safe area. Everything according to description and pictures. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. Also ideal for breakfast (Starbucks, Morning Star Cafe, Le Pain Cotidien within 1 minute). Approx. 10 minutes walk to Rockefeller Center and to Grand Central Station.
Pros: Very good communication with Suitopia (manager). Hostess was waiting for us upon arrival even though we arrived some 1 hour earlier than anticipated. Apartment was clean. Beds were very comfortable with good quality-linen; Master bed softer, the chair that folds into a single bed harder. Perfect! I kept forgetting that it is just a chair! Nice French balcony. Apartment was surprisingly quiet, even though it is right at a corner and we slept with one window open. Rooftop was an additional plus and fun even though somewhat adventurous to get there via fold-down steps. The Parquet floor (no carpet) was also appreciated. Stairs were not a problem.
Cons: Some appliancies need fixing (water-tap in kitchen and shower-tap were loose). Bathroom (rather small, like in picture) could need a facelift also.
AND: (this has nothing to do with the apartment as such) the staircase was rather dirty and had not been cleaned during the time we were there.
But all in all we were very happy there and would recommend it.

I wish I could be kinder.

  • 1 out of 5
Unfortunately, we didn't get off to a good start. As requested, we made the phone call to alert the caretaker that we had arrived from Australia and they assured us that someone would welcome us at the apartment and let us in. Two calls and 30 minutes later, standing in the extremely cold night air after a 25 hour journey, a disinterested chap arrived to admit us. He was focused on changing the battery in a screaming smoke detecter. When I asked him if this could have been done prior to our arrival it was clear he didn't understand, or didn't choose to understand English. We received no introduction to the facilities, no brief on where the fire escape was or how things worked. On a positive note, the apartment was clean, clothes hanging space is good for two people and the location is good. It was also cold. Rummaging around produced an electric fan heater and while it was a help, it was still cold. This is the kind of place where the hanging blinds are too short for the window, where some of the furniture is in danger of falling apart and where the freezer hasn't been defrosted - ever. Much is made of the "full size Serta Perfect Sleeper with Tempur-Pedic® Memory Foam bed" in the advertisement. Let me tell you, you will have a sore back and the only thing that will prevent you from rolling into the valley in the middle of the bed is that your partner has rolled there first. This is a small space for two adults and perhaps one small child only. It's the kind of place where the owners fall over themselves to fix issues that have occurred, inconveniencing your time, rather than making sure there are no issues to begin with. The only time we had contact with the managers was by e-mail wanting us to have the apartment serviced for a fee of $100. We were there for 13 nights, and a mid-stay clean, free of charge, would have been a nice gesture. This apartment is also noisy. The traffic din at night is intrusive and ear-plugs will be mandatory.
My overall impression is that the owners want the maximum possible return from this property for the absolute minimum investment in its upkeep and facilities.
There is a fully serviced boutique hotel just a brief walk up 50th on the other side of the road that is much cheaper and much happier.
I wish I could be kinder.

Owner's Response: They didn't stay in this unit, but with one of our affiliate that is nice and well maintained. I wish he would've had even a tiny bit of common sense, then he wouldn't need to be kinder. Constant complaints, not well based in communication nor capable of living anywhere by himself, plus the need for a full-time care-facility that we are not equipped to provide. We gave a deeply discounted rate and he wanted a free cleaning too. We basically subsidized his stay and he couldn't understand his own inaccuracies and constant complaints. Heat and internet were working properly, as were lamps, freezer (new and doesn't require defrosting) and blinds. We've never had a noise complaint from anyone else. He was informed that we could not accept him to stay in any of our rentals due to medical and mental issues. We were constantly in contact from the start and met him within first 5 min of his arrival, with endless questions and demands, very rude to housekeeper (she contacted us with complaints) plus, our manager came to see him due to his constant problems with everything. However, he wouldn't open the door, didn't know how to turn on a lamp with a dial on/off switch, or how to use the internet or his own email, nor how to operate a freezer and no idea what a Temper-Pedic mattress is and constantly complaining that the suite needs another internet server just for him. Plus, any attempt to explain to him about our nationally known cable service, was absolutely pointless. In-spite of this we listened, but had to shake our heads and agree with everything he would complain about. He had no idea how to use a heater - if a temperature that is suitable for New Yorkers was too cold for him, maybe, because, he's from Australia? There were other issues, he had no inclination to comprehend nor understand how expensive it is to live here, especially the price of Manhattan apartments and services. Honestly, we didn't read all his complaints as everything he complained about was due to his misunderstanding on how things work and all of his so called issues were resolved when a manager came to see him. It's obvious to understand the motivation and malicious ill intent is contrary to those expressed from our 4 to 5 star review average as shown by the previous submitted reviews for this property.
