Located on the Ile de la Cite, only a few steps from the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sainte Chapelle, this large (1,600 sq.ft.) and elegant three bedroom, three bathroom apartment overlooks the Seine and the Pont St. Michel. From here you can enjoy direct views over the river traffic on La Seine or walk to the Place Saint Michel, the Sorbonne, the trendy Blvd. St. Germain on the Left Bank or to the Chatelet - Les Halles area or the Marais district on the Right Bank. This really is the very center of Paris!
The apartment takes up the entire 3rd floor of a grand, historic building right on the bank of the Seine. From its windows and the large balcony you have an unobstructed view across the river to the Place St Michel into the heart of the Latin Quarter. Many of the main historic and cultural sites and monuments are close by: the Palais de Justice and the Conciergerie are just around the corner, the Louvre and the theatres at Chatelet are only a short walk away and the vibrant Left Bank area is right across the bridge outside the front door. Metro and RER stations are a block away. Access to the apartment is controlled by secure coded entry to the internal courtyard. The historic hallway leads to a brand-new elevator and a separate stairway.
Four tall double-glazed French window doors at the front of the building open onto a narrow balcony that extends the full-width of the front windows. The view is to the South directly over the Seine and the St Michel bridge, with barges and tourist boats passing by most of the year. The quiet street below carries little traffic. The large and impressive living room has very high ceilings, the original marble fireplace and classic, comfortable furnishings. The two double French window doors open onto the balcony.
The large dining room also has a high ornamental ceiling and a tall window. The large dining room table can seat up to eight persons. The apartment is equipped with a LCD flat screen television, 150 channel cable TV (including CNN and BBC), DVD, HiFi equipment with MP3 connectivity and Internet high speed broadband WiFi and Ethernet connection.
The two largest bedrooms are reached through double doors located on each side of the living room. The main and second bedrooms overlook the river and are located on each side of the living room. The third bedroom is located behind the main bedroom with an en-suite bathroom connecting the two bedrooms, although the doors can be shut so only those in the main bedroom use this bathroom.
The Master bedroom is very light and has a tall double French door to the balcony at the front of the building. There is a very comfortable queen size bed with a deep but firm mattress. This bedroom has its own modern ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet, basin and hand painted tiles.
The second bedroom is on the other side of the living room. It also has a tall double French door leading to the balcony at the front of the building. This bedroom has two twin size single beds with separate headboards that can be converted into a comfortable queen size bed, if required. The modern en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet and basin.
The third bedroom is at the rear of the apartment with a tall double window onto the courtyard. It has a single trundle bed which can be converted to two singles or a joined double bed.
The kitchen and family bathroom (with tub and washer/dryer) are located down a corridor, in a separate part of the apartment, off to the right as you enter through the main doors of the apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped with a four burner gas stove and oven, fridge, freezer, double sink and dishwasher. All cooking utensils and other small appliances are top quality, all cutlery, crockery and glassware is supplied. The kitchen has a separate exit leading to an elevator at the rear of the apartment.
The third bathroom has a full size bath with hand shower, a bidet and wash basin.
There is also a washer and separate dryer (all instructions are in English). Other equipment includes vacuum cleaner, steam iron and ironing board. The apartment has smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher. Cribs are available for small children.
This is a NO SMOKING apartment!
We had a wonderful 7 night stay in late August, with our son, daughter and son-in-law. The location simply cannot be beaten, overlooking the Seine from two of the three bedrooms and the main living room. The apartment is pretty in an engaging classical manner, with high ceilings, ample space and amenities. Staff were very helpful, cooperative and responsive. And not that I have the slightest worries about staying in Paris, but it was great having two doors to get through and the headquarters of the Police Nationale literally next door. We'd return in a flash.
I think a review is most helpful when it points out the warts. So here are a few points, but they should not discourage you from renting this lovely place.
1. The apartment sleeps 6 but only if you were to install a foldaway in the third bedroom or have someone sleep on the living room sofa (which is long and comfy, it should be said).
2. Someone commented on the lamps in the bedrooms. I kind of agree, and certainly it would have been nice if the lamp switch on the light next to the bed on the west side did not require reaching behind the dresser!
3. Internet is a tad slow - I ran several speed tests and got 3 to 4 Mbps, which is somewhat slow by U.S. standards and very slow by French standards. Also, is it really necessary to have that 22 character password for the wifi? It was a source of frustration/wistful amusement.
4. It would be nice to have an espresso maker. Also, the crockery, cutlery and glassware are all a bit random. Time for a refresh, I think, at these prices.
5. Noise: I am a city dweller and I agree you have to expect some noise, especially when you are on the 3rd floor (2nd floor for Europeans) overlooking the Seine with all the bateaux-mouche going by and with a view of Place St. Michel, a favorite spot for demonstrations. But really, it wasn't a problem and if it got bothersome, you could close the windows. Very quiet at night, too.

We arrived jet-lagged with my parents and one year old in tow, unsure what we would find. The apartment, the view, and its amenities took our breath away! Obviously, the location couldn't be better with proximity to Notre Dame and Left and Right banks. Everything was in walking distance. The apartment itself was spacious, quiet, beautiful, and well-equipped. The owners were very helpful and spoke excellent English, and even helped arrange a van pickup at the airport. We loved imagining the families that got to live in such a lovely place over the centuries, and will definitely rent again when our wanderlust brings us back to Paris. Merci!
Our family of six stayed here for several days. It was an amazing location with beautiful views. Romain was very helpful with arranging transportation from the airport. We had a lovely experience. Everything we wanted was within walking distance. It was just fabulous!
For anyone wanting an authentic Parisian experience in a beautiful and conveniently located area of Paris, this apartment is for you! After looking at literally hundreds of apartment pictures, descriptions and reviews, I chose the Pont Saint Michel apartment and was not disappointed. The apartment is large, with soaring ceilings and beautiful plaster work. When I stepped into the living room with the large French doors to the balcony it was like stepping into my Parisian dream. To stand on the balcony and admire a beautiful view of the Seine is an experience I will never forget. My kids were thrilled to see the tip of the Eiffel Tower twinkling every night from a corner of our balcony. We were steps from Notre Dame as well as a quick walk across the bridge to the Latin Quarter. Our arrival coordinator, Romain, was very helpful and the offer of car service from and to the airport let us relax from the first moment we arrived in Paris. My only caution would be for people to realize that this building was built (I believe) in the late 1800s. Yes, the floor boards creak a bit but remember, these are REAL parquet floors from another era. The character of this place just can’t be surpassed!
My husband and I had stayed in this apartment several years ago and knew it to be a large apartment by Paris standards, and very well equipped. So when we decided to take our son, daughter in law, and 3 granddaughters to Paris we immediately searched for this apartment again. The location is wonderful, overlooking the Seine, close to the Metro, and several of the top Paris attractions, as well as to a very good market, pharmacy and restaurants. We were all very comfortable, and felt very safe in this location. I have relatives that live in Paris and we had a mini family reunion, 15 of us in all, and we had more than enough room in the very large dining room and living room. The 3 bathrooms came in handy too with that many girls! We would definitely rent this apartment again.
My nieces, friends and I stayed for a week in the apartment. It was a charming space in a great location (if Notre Dame is behind you and the Seine is on your left, you are there!). The staff was very helpful and did a great job coordinating our arrival.
