Luis and Cristina are parents of 3 children and grandparents to four. They are both now retired. Luis retired from the AEE of PR (Power company in PR) and Cristina had a portrait studio in the town of Arecibo. For many years they also worked together doing wedding photography. After retirement, they have enjoyed, among other things, traveling to various countries, their favorites being Spain and Italy. They own a boat named Isola Bella and have occasionally used it to travel to the US Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Vieques and Culebra. Luis is an active teaching member of the 33rd US Power Squadron, the world's largest private nonprofit organization that promotes safe boating. He is an also a member of the community group 'Yo Amo el Tinglar' which means 'I love the leatherback turtles' (www.yoamoeltinglar.com). The group is dedicated to the protection of leatherbacks which are the largest sea turtles in the world and are an endangered species. The period between the months of March and August is the nesting season and Luis does early morning walks on the beach to identify and document the nests. During nesting time (60-65 days), the group keeps a watch of the nests. Although the group is made of all volunteers, they work with the Department of Natural Resources to coordinate efforts in their goal of protecting this beautiful species for the enjoyment of future generations. Cristina also is part of various environmental protection community groups.
Karina Jacobelli or Luis Jimenez purchased this apartment in 1987
Luis and Cristina are both natives of Arecibo. They are proud to direct visitors to the hidden beauty of Islote. They live a few miles away from the vacation rental. The property has been a rental building since they obtained it over 25 yrs ago. It has a total of 3 units, two of which are now vacation rentals and one is a full time rental.
A group of friends and I traveled to Arecibo for the skydiving festival and this house was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The home is very secure with locked gates and 24/7 security cameras, so you never have to worry about safety. There's plenty of space to hangout in the communal areas or take some time for yourself in the bedrooms. The rooftop terrace was lovely -- they even cleaned the BBQ for us so we could enjoy rooftop food! Everything was very clean, very modern, and very beachy. Christina & William were wonderful hosts .. they even brought us a new batch of clean towels mid week so we didn't have to worry about washing them! They were on time for checkin & checkout, and made themselves available anytime we called. The driveway has room for about 5 or 6 cars comfortably which was perfect for our group. I'd highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay in Arecibo, PR.
My husband and I stayed here with some family and we all plenty of space. Accommodations are comfortable and clean. The rooftop patio is wonderful for relaxing at the end of a day of adventure. Even though there is no air conditioning the breeze throughout the apartment is great! Never uncomfortable. Awesome restaurant close by, Salitre. Really great location for day trips on the northside of the island and to just go to the beach. Luis and Cristina are great hosts. Very accomodating and generous. I seriously can't wait to go back! A very relaxing and fun vacation that we recommend to everyone.
Stayed March 20th to March 25th. This was our first rental property in Puerto Rico. For the location and our large family you could not beat the price. The owners, Luis and Christina were fantastic as all the other reviews have stated. They gave us loads of ideas of what to do, where to go and the best routes to get there. We rented the top 3 bedroom floor which had plenty of space and a great patio. Some problems arose during our stay but Luis was easy to contact and available.
PRO’s: Great hospitality from owners. Plenty of room for the 7 of us on the top floor. Had good TV selections, Ruko, Hulo for kids to enjoy during down times. Clean. My wife and I had dinner (Salitre restaurant) with Luis and Christina one night and they treated us like we were part of their family and made us feel right at home. Thank you Luis and Christina my wife and I appreciated it very much. :) We had to extend our stay by a day and Luis and Christina were very accommodating.
CON’s: On a busy street (during our stay) which made it tough to get in/out of driveway.
We had a great stay and we enjoyed every minute of it! Everything works perfect and Luis and Cristina were very attentive to our needs. The facilities were very clean and the house looks just like in the pictures. The terraza and hammack are great and one you must enjoy. You can sit in the evening and enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine while you enjoy time with friends or relaxed with your family. Area is very safe and quiet. We stayed on the top apartment and had a glance of the bottom apartments and they look very nice and confortable also. During our stay we visited places like the Lighthouse and the Observatory which are not far away. Cristina even brought us typical Puerto Rican dessert called flan. That made us feel like home and we really appreciate all that Luis and Cristina did to make our stay one to remember. We definitely recommend the house to anyone, you will enjoy and have a good time, and Luis and Cristina will take very good care of you!
Our family stayed at "Seabreeze" from 6/21/12 to 8/14/12 (actually extended our stay for approximately 2 weeks) and found everything to be more than satisfactory. Really nice having our morning coffee on either of the 2 terraces and lounging in the hammock. Seabreeze was well-equipped - with many extras including beach towels, games, DVDs, books, etc., and even 2 bicycles for use by renters. Luis & Christina were great in providing information about the area and responded immediately when we called about a concern (ie. after pushing the wrong buttons on the TV remote and losing reception, we called Luis and he was there in 10 minutes to set us straight!) Very accommodating people and a pleasure to do business with. We look forward to another visit to Seabreeze in the future and thank Luis & Christina for their hospitality!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this vacation apartment! Can't wait to go back! There is so much to do in this area, Beautiful beaches, snorkeling, surfing, exploring Caves (Cueva Indio at the beach and La Cueva Ventana inland), Ideal location, halfway between San Juan and Rincon, easy day trips to anywhere on the Northside of the Island. Even though the apartment didn't have air conditioner, the Island breezes made it quite comfortable, just the way an island getaway should be. Really spacious patio equal to the size of the apartment, great for cooking out or laying out in the sun or just enjoying time with friends and family. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
P.S. Near to a very nice oceanside restaurant, Salitre.
