Comfortable roof loft, 2 bedrooms on 125 m2 in a historic commune1 building

BerlinLofts offers this beautiful loft located in a serene, park-like courtyard in the roof of an industrial building with rich history. The house has become famous for its residents, the commune 1. The 68 year olds Fritz Teufel, Dieter Kunzelmann, Rainer Langhans, Uschi Obermeier, U. Enzensberger have lived in this place and started their political campaigns. Literature from this period is there in a small library, in addition to informative journals about Berlin and its surroundings. The apartment has very comfortable furnishings, free internet usage, convection oven, dishwasher, washing machine, 2 refrigerators, microwave with grill / convection, coffee and espresso machine, kettle, toaster, blender, iron, satellite TV, DVD, stereo system with radio, radio alarm clock and a hair dryer.

The apartment is located in the north of the large zoo in Stephankiez in a quiet, lush green backyard. The subway station Birkenstrasse and the suburban railway station Westhafen are both about 600 m away and they are reachable within walking distance. Bus stops are in Perleberger street about 300 metres from the apartment for bus no. M123, which will take you straight in minutes Chancellery, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, the stelae field of the Holocaust Memorial and museums, and finally to the Potsdam Square.

Wonderful renovated loft

We had the pleasure of spending a week in Stephan's beautifully and professionally decorated loft. The apartment exceeded all our expectations. Stephan and his mother were most hospitable, bilingual folks who were kind and flexible to meet our needs. We would very much look forward to revisiting in the future. The pictures do not do justice to this wonderful facility that we would recommend with no reservations.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

This is a fantastic place. It is a beautiful, huge loft in a very interesting building. It is extremely clean, beautifully appointed, with everything you could need. There are good restaurants and good grocery stores very close by, and it is located in a quiet neighborhood of Berlin.

Stephan was very kind, efficient and very easy to deal with, and provided lots of interesting background on the building.

We will definitely stay here again when we are in Berlin, and recommend it highly to other travelers.

This is a lovely loft a partment with a kitchen I wish I had at home. there is every thing you would need in it and the Spar is a very short walk away. The upside to a fourth floor apartment is that it is great exercise and there is also recyling bins which I like to see, The apartment is verybright and clean and very comfortable. It is close to bus stop and about a short walk to the subway. There are some nice restaurants near by and we found Berlin a great place to visit and would definitely recomend this city and this apartment.

We stayed here 22/01/08 - 26/01/08 and cannot not recommend this apartment enough, the quality of the accommodation is exceptional !!
LOCATION
If you are concerned about staying in a residential area....don't be!
The apartment is in Stephanstrasse which is only a few mins walk from Birkenstrasse UBhan which is just three stops from Zoo Station which is a major interchange. The Berlin underground is fast and efficient & we were surprised how quickly & easily we could get to places of interest.
LOCAL FACILITIES
Bakers, Supermarkets, restaurants, playground and a couple of bars all within 3 - 4 mins walk. We recommend Dicker Engel right next to Birkenstrasse UBahn for traditional German food (ask for the English menu).
THE APARTMENT
Located on the top floor of a 4 storey building ( 4 flights of stairs so not good for anyone with mobility problems) the apartment (apmnt) is BIG. A large living area with sofa and chairs, TV (only the news channels are in English) DVd and Internet, a dinig area with a wonderfully rustic dining table seating 8 and the kitchen area running along the back wall. The Kitchen area is VERY well equipped & I can't think of anything that you would need that wasn't provided.
The bathroom is large and the bath and shower are excellent with plenty of hot water.
There are two bedrooms with very comfortable double beds
The apmnt was spotlessly clean, very warm and comfortable, exceptionally well equiped and, not being directly on a street, nice and quiet and if this isn't enough it also has a lot of history from the "commune" period of Berlin.
The owner, Stephan, was freindly & approachable, speaks good English & was even kind enough to book us a taxi for the airport on our return.
Berlin is a great place to visit, don't miss the Zoo, the Olympic stadium (take the audio tour) & the food hall of the KaDeWa department store & if you want a really great place to stay then choose Stephans attic loft apartment as I don't you'll find better accomodation for the price anywhere in Berlin.
