Our Long Sejourns at Windsong
Review Submitted: 20 June 2011

We first rented Windsong for three months in December 2009 and having spent last winter in another Nevis house, we are looking forward to returning for an extended period this winter. My father spends the winter at Windsong and also enjoys visits from family and friends during this time. It is perfect for our requirements as we are able to enjoy the privacy of the air-conditioned downstairs bedroom and other guests have their own privacy in the cottage.
The kitchen is compact and perfect for basic cooking. We tended to spend most of the days and evenings on the front porch which has fabulous 180 degree views of the coastline including Antigua to the west and Montserrat straight in front. It is a very quiet location and perfect for relaxing and recharging batteries.
Nowhere is particularly far in Nevis and we certainly appreciated being on the 'quieter side' of the island. Nearby Golden Rock is perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch or dinner and the staff are lovely, all of whom we have got to know quite well. Hermitage and Montpelier are also no more than 10 minutes away. Best Buy, the local Gingerland grocery store, is very convenient with a good selection of fruits, vegetables, meats, a deli and wine/beer.
Gigi and Charlie, the owners, have become good friends of ours and we look forward to catching up with them every year. They are very conscientious and if there is ever a problem, they deal with it straight away. We also enlisted the help of Camella who came once a week to clean, change beds and do any laundry if we wished. Her smiling face, as a typical Nevisian, was always warmly greeted.
Since our first visit to Windsong, and as a result of the recent reopening refurbishment of the Four Seasons, the furniture on the patio and in the living area has been upgraded and looks lovely. The cottage has also received some upgrades and although it is very cute, it does not have air conditioning and is a little basic.
We would not hesitate in recommending Windsong as a holiday rental although we would not welcome competition for our three-month winter sejourns! It would not suit a family with young children as there are clearly three separate accommodation areas with no internal access from the main house but would be perfect for friends vacationing together or families with older children.
