Near Lucca but in open countryside: The surrounding area offers: jogging/hiking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, fabulous restaurants and wines, and the traditions, customs, and history of the area.
We are located 8km from the city of Lucca, with its origins dating back to 180 A.D., and easy access via the motorways or railway station to all tourist areas and areas of interest found throughout Tuscany, including Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, and the beaches of Versilia.
Lucca: At times we read that the inhabitants of Lucca, The Lucchesi, built their landscape 'as if their only preoccupation were beauty'. It is a varied and generous landscape, abounding in life as well as silences, paths between the woods, meadows and picturesque medieval villages. An island of nature and of history that is situated in the centre of north-western Tuscany, it enjoys an enviable position a few minutes away from the sea and less than an hour by car from Florence. It borders on the province of Pisa, and is surrounded by the Apennine mountains and the spurs of the Apuan Alps. Hemmed in by its walls, the city reveals itself a little it at a time. Only by walking along the narrow streets of the historic centre and visiting the more than one hundred churches and almost the same number of palace can one discover the mystery and magic of a past that abounds in the history, culture and architecture of various epochs. Everything in the city of Lucca is to be seen.

Review Title : 207389 - "Casa Mennone"
"I and 12 of my family and friends met at Casa Mennone for Christmas and stayed for two weeks. We
loved the house. It was nicely decorated and furnished (rustic country style) and very cosy and comfortable with a personal touch. It was clean and well maintained. It had everything you could wish for in the way of appliances, crockery, glasses etc. The owners, Loretta and Giuseppe, were more than kind and helpful, always available with advice and tips. We stayed there over winter and it was fantastic with a roaring log fire but I would definitely be great in summer with the lovely large garden and beautiful pool. The location of the house is great (Lucca is 20 minutes away) and it has a wonderful view down the valley also at night. There are great walks up the hill behind the house. I can recommend the house highly
