Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday condo in Duluth

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Built in 1889, this historic building located in the heart of Canal Park will wow you with character. Inside your condo the massive Douglas fir beams and original 14 foot exposed brick walls are without compare. This fully furnished 1,250 square foot condominium comfortably sleeps 8 adults in the king bedroom with private bath, 2nd bedroom with 2 full beds, and fold out couch. The 2nd full bathroom and in-suite Jacuzzi add comfort for everyone. Although not stocked for a gourmet chef, the kitchen includes all of the amenities that you expect for a weekend retreat including a full size range, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher.

Outside your bedroom window is the William A. Irving Ore Boat which is available for tours; for a special treat come during October for the haunted ship! If fishing the big lake is on the menu, Duluth’s charter fleet is across the parking lot. If the weather keeps you in, take advantage of the indoor pool, hot tub, children’s shallow pool, or fitness center; and at the end of the day grab dinner at the Timberlodge Steakhouse without ever stepping foot outside.

Duluth has year round opportunities and adventures to offer and conveniences are second to none as you will be within walking distance of the world renowned Aerial Lift Bridge, Maritime Museum, Bayfront Festival Park and Playground, Great Lakes Aquarium, North Shore Scenic Railroad, Amsoil Arena, Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, many unique shops, and over a dozen eating and drinking establishments. If you’re in town to compete, nothing beats limping the two blocks back to your condo after finishing Grandmas Marathon or the North Shore Inline Marathon.

Not only is Duluth the gateway to the north shore of Lake Superior, a short drive from your condo will take you to Spirit Mountain Recreation Area, Saint Mary's Medical Center, Saint Lukes Hospital, the University of Minnesota Duluth, the College of St Scholastica, Lake Superior Zoo, Glensheen Mansion, and the Duluth International Airport.

we enjoyed this well kept condo with its open wooden beamed overhead, brick walls, and location. Plenty of towels, clean bedding and well equipped kitchen. Quiet surroundings and easy access made for a great stay. Would definitely stay again.

Not quite what we had expected...

  • 4 of 5

Four of us stayed at this condo for a long weekend, from Thursday through Sunday. The condo was lovely, and much bigger than it appeared from the pictures! Having two bathrooms was great! There are mirrors everywhere, which can be a little startling if you're not used to that. The fireplace was wonderful, and so easy to use! There were some things that weren't quite so wonderful though.

First, the parking. The description says ample parking, lots of spots. This is NOT the case. There were maybe 40 spots to be shared with the hotel, Old Chicago, and overflow parking from Timberlodge Steakhouse and Red Lobster. At one point, we circled for 45 minutes looking for a spot before giving up and parking in a pay lot.

Also, the equipment in the kitchen leaves something to be desired. It's great if you're only planning to make/serve sandwiches and other pre-made foods. Actual cooking is hard. There is one stockpot, a 2 quart pot, and two frying pans. No mixing bowls, or anything of that nature. There are lots of table knives, but only a few steak knives, and a couple of kitchen knives for preparing food. We ended up going to the dollar store to buy enough cooking stuff to get us through our time there! It wasn't terrible that stuff wasn't there, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time that the kitchen isn't equipped for full-on cooking/baking.

Overall, it was a very fun experience, and we had a great time in Duluth.

Canal Park!

  • 5 of 5

Wow...what an amazing weekend. The directions to the condo are a bit confusing but once we figured it out, it was a easy. The condo was neat and clean. It's spacious and the kitchen is pretty well equipped. The pictures on the website are accurate. Very nice stay!

Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this condo for a long week end. This is perfect for the family, with the pool, hot tub and sauna located in the hotel we filled our time with some relaxing time. The condo kitchen is semi set up for making family dinners, but perfect for a lunch setting. All the rooms are very clean, warm and inviting. The pictures are true to what you would find there in person. This is with in walking distance to the lake front. We completely are satisfied with this condo and what it has to offer. We are looking forward to booking a week end again soon!

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

The location can't be beat! There were some minor housekeeping issues. There was an old chewed up looking hat in the kids' room that didn't belong to us, the lamp was broken (my husband brought in his tools and fixed it so they could use it), our dresser and TV in our room were very dusty, there was a minor ring of dirt in the jetted tub. I went through and did a cleaning so we could feel a little better about being there. The fridge wasn't emptied either. Other than that, the location is great, and there were plenty of plates, dishes etc. to use, comfy beds. I gave this 4 stars due to loving Duluth and the lake and the fact that we were out much of the time. Just based on the upkeep of the room, I would have given 3 stars. If we want to stay in Canal Park again, we may just go through The Suites hotel instead, unless it's their cleaning service that takes care of the condos also.
