LUXURY AND ROMANTIC TOWNHOUSE

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Canillas de Aceituno - Luxury And Romantic TownHouse

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

'Casa Muñecas' is a charming renovated house, situated in a quiet street, two minutes walk from the center of Canillas de Aceituno. The renovation of the house is made with gentle hand, and the house has retained its Spanish character. The house has two floors, a roof terrace and a charming patio. You will have the whole house to yourselves. And it's super cheap, because we would rather have our charming townhouse is used and full of happy people, than it is alone and bored!

If we have to start all superior - to get an overview - it is the holiday home in Spain, specifically in Andalusia, which consists of eight self-governing provinces bearing the same name as their capital - Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén , Malaga and Seville. We are in the Málaga province.

Each province is historically divided into so-called comarcas - the term comes from Marca, which means a 'march (brand)', plus 'co-sense (together, together)'. Historically these are the areas bounded by major rivers and mountains. They never had any formal recognition, but in practice they often functioned as geographical, cultural, historical, and in some cases administrative units. Malaga province is historically divided into 9 comarcas - Antequera, Costa del Sol Occidental, Guadalteba, La Axarquía, Málaga, Costa del Sol, Nororma, Serrania de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves and the Valle del Guadalhorce. We are in La Axarquía comarca.

Andalusien provinsen

La Axarquía comarca

Each of these comarcas is divided into so-called muncipios consisting of a well-defined range, typically in the form of a town or city. La Axarquía comarca is divided into 31 muncipios which Canillas de Aceituno is the one. These muncipios controlled by a collegial body called the council, the municipality, the mayor or council, led by a one-man institution: the mayor. We turn the clock back to before 2000, these mayors are quite autocratic and so great, guidelines and regulations stipulated by central government in Madrid. They were small kings who led the competition from neighboring towns to attract tourists, buildings and money, and was therefore often quite cheered by their townsmen.

But then the party ended with a bang around 2005 where the mayors in a row was thrown in jail for fraud, corruption, etc.. And the central government in Madrid came up with to fly over the whole of Andalusia with a military aircraft that photographed every corner. When they found a new building or an extension, as there were licensed in their archives, they sent a nice letter to the owner to have it removed! Previously, you could just pay a symbolic fine and receive his building permit subsequently. But not anymore! And tightening was followed by various administrative measures so that each small muncipios admittedly enjoys little autonomy, but under very tightly controlled by central government in Madrid.

La Axarquía comarca's 31 muncipios are: Alcaucín, Alfarnate, Alfarnatejo, Algarrobo, Almachar, Archez, Arenas, Benamargosa, Benamocarra, El Borge, Canillas de Aceituno, Colmenar, Comares, Competa, Cútar, Frigiliana, Iznate, La Viñuela, Macharaviaya, Moclinejo , Nerja, Periana, Rincón de la Victoria, Riogordo, Salares, Sayalonga, Sedella, Torre del Mar, Torrox, Totalan and Vélez-Málaga, the capital of La Axarquia.

Coast called the Costa del Sol, which is very natural as the sun always seems to shine here.

We are therefore in: Spain, Andalusia province, La Axarquia comarca, the city Canillas de Aceituno - located in the mountains to the Costa del Sol.

A place to escape to

  • 5 out of 5
A great place to relax and get away from it all. It was a wonderful time for me. I found lots and lots of useful information on the website that the owner has created. Here I found information about walks, places to visit, whats in the village, it's a mine of helpful information! Good size bedrooms and bathrooms. I just loved the choice of furnishings and Moroccan stuff. The house is brilliantly renovated, attention to detail was second to none. The patio is a wonderful place for dining and relaxing. The position in the village was excellent, situated in a very quite street, and everything within a short walking distance. I thoroughly recommend a holiday here.

Super vaccation

  • 5 out of 5
We spent a week at the Townhouse in July 2013. The weather was fantastic and the views are outstanding from the terrace- all the way down to the Mediterranean. The house is very romantic and authentic andalusia style but with a modern touch. We went there to hike in the mountains, but also fell in love with the town Canillas De aceituno - a really remarkable and charming town.

A Great Getaway

  • 5 out of 5
Well worth the money! The house was everything we expected and more. A fantastic accommodation and larger than expected. We enjoyed relaxing on the terrace. The views are truly outstanding. As for the village - it is wonderful!. There's a good selection of bars and restaurants and many beautiful streets covered in flowers. These mountain village people really do love flowers! We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again.

Perfect holiday!

  • 5 out of 5
It's a fabulous house, in a fabulous village! The village itself is on the top of a big hill, a typical "white Spanish village", visible for miles as you approach it, needless to say it has memorable views of the surrounding countryside, which offers many interesting excursions. Long walks are available in the nearby National Park. The Townhouse is just great. It's clean and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, free WIFI, a big dishwasher, and everything you need. We surely felt at home here and had a just perfect holiday.

Whitewashed houses, and charming narrow streets where colorful flowers hanging on the walls side by side and compete for your attention and expression. In the city center you find very spring water, running quietly and musically, to your and the city's residents free use, when you want to quench your thirst, or fill a bottle for later.

The many tapas bars invite to gear down and pamper yourself in a relaxed atmosphere with family and friends. Here time seems to have stood still - here are still people who use horses and mules for transport.

Although the town only has about 2800 inhabitants you will find a bank, multiple grocers, two butchers, etc. The city and the area is a unique opportunity to experience the real Spain. And it is easy to get there. There is a very good paved way to the city. On the outskirts of town is a very nice municipal pool, which also has restaurant and bar. The best way to discover the city is by simply stroll around the many beautiful streets. Your are going to live in one of the most beautiful areas of the Town, because our neighbor is very fond of flowers and our own little street making a feast of flowers and fertility.

The city's beautiful church

La Virgen de la Rosario y Leon S. Magno, Calle de la Iglesia, Canillas de Aceituno, AL 29716 - Take a look inside when you come over. Here is a beautiful atmosphere.

The old football field and the cemetery

'El campo de futbol'. Most Spaniards are crazy about football. When you drive into town, you have the city's new football field on your right hand side just before the roundabout. Here, the city's young people run around and kick a ball while enjoying the beautiful views over the Mediterranean. But the old football field is also nice to visit. Its just up behind the town. On the way up here you also pass the town's cemetery, which is a typical Spanish cemetery. When you are at the old football ground you stand on the border into Sierra Nevada National Park - Spain's largest national park. You can read more about this nationalpark here.

Festivals and holidays in Canillas de Aceituno

There are many major and minor parties in Canillas. They have a party for olive oil, another for blood sausage, an annual festival and much more. List of festivals and holidays in Canillas the Aceitunoog environs.

Good restaurants and bars

In relation to city size, there are surprisingly many small bars and restaurants. Let's go for Dinner.

Shops, stores and markets

The town has three small supermarkets, a bakers and two butchers. They are all fair with prices and assortment. You can also head down to one of the big supermarkets. The town's weekly market day is Friday. List of shopping opportunities and markets.

The citys turistinformation

You may contact the Town Hall in Canillas de Aceituno their opening hours - 9-14 business days. Ask possibly after Silvia who speaks English.

Proposal for trips by car

Here are some suggestions for road trips with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the unparalleled views, get yourself a drink, or just enjoy authentic Spain.

Touring the East: Sedella - Salares - Archez - Canillas de Albaida - Competa

You can take this trip by car or by bike. You follow the main road out of Canillas de Aceituno east, and then runs in a tortuous - but well paved and safe way - along some marvelous views. I can plan to turn around and drive back when I was in Competa - or I can choose to continue down to the coast and take a dip in the Mediterranean. A description of the towns you meet along the way here.

Touring the West: Alcaucin - Citar - Comares

You can also take the main road out of Canillas de Aceituno and visit the villages which lie to the west. Where cities are located closer you orintere you by looking at the map below. It is, inter alia, Some of the towns whose lights shine so beautifully in the night when you sit on the roof terrace of our house in Canillas de Aceituno, looking towards the mountains! A description of the towns you meet along the way here.

Stroll along the coast

Down by the coast road in Torre del Mar, you can turn right or left. Your experiences will be as the Thais say 'same, same, but different.' All coastal towns look more or less apart. Here cruiser pensioners up and down with their Harley Davidson motorcycles, they're enthusiastic to air their bikes, and there is an abundance of restaurants and cafes as kæmpåer for your attention. It flottetste is the road itself, the actual driving. Often you drive directly to the Mediterranean. It is a very beautiful trip.

It is also quite cheap to rent a car in Spain - Read more in our driving directions.

La Alhambra, Granada

La Alhambra is simply just so beautiful! It is the oldest and best preserved Arab palace, which is found in the world. Going in the morning and I have a great day trip. Remember to book tickets in advance. There is internet in the townhouse.
