AMAZING PLACE FOR A REAL VACATION!
We just left Loon Song Lodge this past weekend and I’ve looked at the personal family pictures we took of this beautiful places many times since, longing to be back there. The lodge and it’s surrounding area is more lovely and tranquil than pictures can portray. My husband and I along with our two children from Atlanta, my in-laws from Seattle, and my brother-in-law with his two boys from San Francisco all met up here for a week’s vacation with intent to visit and hike in Glacier National Park. Upon arrival at this lodge we soon realized this place was a ‘haven’ for relaxation and family time. The layout/size of the house was perfect for the 9 people we had staying there. We spent a day in Glacier National Park, a day in Big Fork, a day at Whitefish Ski Resort, a half day horseback riding at Lonesome Dove Ranch (very close by) and other than that we enjoyed just being together at the lodge while swimming and boating in the lake, sitting on the balconies with coffee in the mornings and drinks in the evenings looking out at the lake, making smores around the firepit and relaxing.
We’ve taken several vacations as a family renting places in many different states… but this place provided the best in everything we could have ever asked for… service (owners are amazingly accommodating & friendly), accommodations (beds are comfy, lodge is spotless, kitchen is amazingly stocked with cooking utensils and condiments, bathrooms are well supplied with towels and hairdryers, and the lodge has so many DVDs, board games, pool table, foosball that the kids never run out of things to do), and on top of it all the lake is breathtaking with its’ turquoise clear water and cool breeze constantly blowing straight through the lodge when the doors and windows are open. And best of all – NO BUGS! We were there at the end of July when it should have been the hottest and buggiest, but we certainly never even put on bug spray or needed air conditioning as the entire lodge has shade with the perfect breeze off the water making it very comfortable in the afternoons and actually light jacket weather in the evenings/nights. We even turned on the living room fire stove in the mornings to add ambiance and get the chill out.
If you are going to the NW Montana area, I’d highly recommend staying on Ashley Lake – it’s quiet and secluded yet one of the most peaceful settings one could hope for on a vacation. And Loon Song Lodge is one of the pretty places to stay on the lake.
