About this property

This well-appointed and spacious (75 sq m) 5th-floor corner apartment has a great, central location, and magnificent views of Lake Maggiore and the surrounding mountains. It has 2 bedrooms, large living room, a new fully-equipped kitchen, and a newly-renovated bathroom. New for 2023: Air-conditioning! -- a rare luxury in Locarno.

The apartment is just 1 block from the lakefront, and only a 3-minute walk to the Piazza Grande and Old Town. Within 10 minutes, one can walk to the main boat dock, train station, public beach and pool, theater, casino, tennis courts, and funicular (cable car) station. 'Palazzo Varesi' has 2 balconies, one off the living room (overlooking the lake) and one off the master bedroom (overlooking the mountains and Old Town). The master bedroom also has a new king-size bed. One private, covered parking place is included, accessible by the main elevator. The property is professionally managed, by the local Swiss agency HolAp. References are available upon request. Now in our 25th year of rental!

Locarno itself is the highlight of the 'Swiss Riviera,' blending the best of Swiss and Italian cultures; it is lively but not over-bearing, cultured yet relaxed. Many wonderful tourist destinations are within easy drive. In Switzerland: Ascona, Bellinzona, Lugano, Zurich, and Zermatt are all within a few hours ride. In Italy: one can easily visit the Maggiore Lake towns of Cannobio, Intra, and Stresa, as well as places such as Milan, Verona, and the famous Italian lakes Lago D'Orta and Lake Como. Many of our guests stay for 3 weeks or more (at a discount), making numerous side trips.

Great apartment in a beautiful town on a lovely lake

The apartment is very central, less than 10 minutes from the train station and Piazza Grande, and just 2 minutes from the lakeside. It has a well-equipped kitchen, 3 beds and 2 sofas which can be slept on and 2 balconies from which you can see the lake. Nice big living room. It's on the 5th floor so very glad it has a lift! The only slight downside is that the road that goes past the apartment block is a main route into town and there's a lot of traffic on it throughout the day from very early in the morning which can be heard with the windows open, but that's a minor downside. Contact with the host and agent was good and they were helpful in arranging for the key to be made available as we had a very late arrival time. Overall it's a perfect place for a family or group of friends to stay when visiting Locarno.

Gut gelegene Unterkunft

Kleine und gemütliche Wohnung an sehr guter Lage. Ist nicht ganz neu, wird aber Schritt für Schritt modernisiert (Bad, Küche, Klimaanlage etc.) Küche gut eingerichtet. Toaster könnte mal ersetzt werden. Parkplatz etwas eng aber gleich bei der Wohnung. Locarno ist immer eine Reise wert. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Another great visit

The apartment was, once again, fabulous. Great views, great location, we walked everywhere. And the new air conditioning was wonderful! We have not found any other apartments in Locarno with a built-in A/C, and this was definitely welcome. Beds were super-comfortable, bathroom very nice. We will come back!

Great Location and fantastic apartment for a family

Very easy check in process even though we were arriving later than planned. Apartment was very clean and spacious. Lots of room for a family of 4. Great view from the balcony and the air conditioning is a definite plus if staying in the summer. It made sleeping very comfortable even though it was hot outside. Overall a great experience!
