Beautiful apartment (top floor with street level access) with very special garden. This 1100 sq ft newly renovated & artfully designed top-floor flat is an oasis offering a view that looks over a tree-filled panorama that takes in the San Francisco Bay, the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco skyline often framed within a dramatic sunset.
This flat is completely private with private access to the flat and the deck. Access is from street level, through the front door. It feels more like a single-family house than an apartment.
One great advantage to this location is its micro climate, usually sunny and warm with no fog! It is located in the Maxwell Park neighborhood of Oakland (check it out on Wikipedia).
Located on a quiet one-block residential street, the home has the feeling of a retreat. The expansive back deck overlooks a lush garden where you may lounge, or soak in the pergola-covered hot tub. Depending on the season, you may eat plums, figs, or apples right off their trees. And you may find yourself entertained by the antics of many humming birds.
Every room in the home, except for one bedroom and the bathroom, has lovely views. One bedroom offers a view of the San Francisco Bay, even from the bed! From this bedroom a French door opens onto a curved deck that has cushy seating. Each bedroom has a very comfortable, queen-size bed. The bathroom has been updated with tile and granite. A full-size washer and dryer are located off the bathroom, hidden by a closed pocket door.
The kitchen is fully furnished with cookware, utensils, and place settings. The kitchen décor is vintage and features a Wedgewood gas cook stove.
The Deck extends the entire width of the flat. Deck access is also available from the kitchen area, and this deck area is furnished with a bar-height table where you can enjoy a repast with your fellow guests.
A desk work area is available and wireless internet access is provided.
As an antidote to work, you may cozy up to the gas fireplace and watch the 41 inch flat screen television (satellite DirecTV).
You are minutes from the peaceful groves of a hidden forest of redwoods in the Redwood Regional Park’s 1,829 acres where you may mountain bike, hike, or picnic. You are within walking distance to Mills College (1/10th of a mile) and you are 16 minutes from UC Berkeley. The location’s proximity to the 580 Freeway gives you fast access to many attractions including Lake Merritt, Jack London Square, Grand Lake Theater (movies), the Paramount Theater (live music), and many excellent restaurants. You are only a 23 minute drive from San Francisco, but you may prefer to take the scenic ferry that will deliver you to the SF Ferry Building (and its many wonderful markets) or to Fisherman’s wharf. 15 minutes from Oakland Airport! 37 minutes from- San Francisco International Airport!

The photo is of me in front of the house. My husband and I travel frequently and whenever possible we rent a home or apartment rather than stay in a hotel. We value comfort and convenience and keep in mind our own expectations and preferences when furnishing our rental. If given a choice, we will always choose a home with a garden, and a hot tub is always a bonus. After a day of touring and sight seeing, we enjoy sitting in a beautiful outside setting, enjoying each other and a glass of wine. We want to provide you with the best possible lodging experience to complement your enjoyment of the Bay Area. We are huge fans of the Bay Area and enjoy its offerings of beautiful nature and urban delights as though we are tourists. My husband was a frequent Bay Area visitor (from New England) when I met him here through mutual friends 8 years ago. After I spent two cold north eastern winters with him, he came to his senses and moved to the temperate climate of the Bay Area. We married 5 years ago, and he has no regrets about relocating!
