A 1000 square foot wrap around porch, overlooking the beach, provides outdoor living areas next to the sparkling, warm waters of Exuma. This is one of the best beaches in Exuma. You are often the only people on the beach but it is central to all island amenities making this location the most convenient on all of Great Exuma.
Within eight minutes of leaving the airport you will be sipping a cool drink on the white sand beach beside the emerald waters of Tar Bay. The summer water temperature is 85 degrees.
A short 8 minute drive east you will find the charming and friendly town of Georgetown, capital of this island archipelago of 3800 permanent residents. You will find everything you need for meal and drink preparation, satisfy your urge to shop at the straw market and boutiques and visit interesting historic sites. Order up some fresh Lobster, Grouper, Tuna or Mahi Mahi from the local fisherman and they will deliver it to the house.
This is a low key, laid back island with none of the hustle and bustle of tourist destinations- perfect for a relaxing vacation - Don't expect casinos, fast food restaurants and designer shopping here. The Exumas will offer a vacation where you reconnect with yourself and your family and friends.
Rent a boat, or hire an experienced captain from Minn's boat rentals to explore the clear, calm waters of Elizabeth Harbour. Don't forget to see the crustaceans at Starfish Beach and visit Sand Dollar beach to hunt for these treasures. A freshly made conch salad and cold Kalik beer at or Big D's or Chat and Chill on Stocking Island is a necessity for this boat trip. If boat rental is not an option for you then a water taxi will get you to Stocking island where you can partake in the fun with other sailors, visitors and locals. Have fun with a game of beach volleyball on the sand court , sip an icy Bahama Mama cocktail on a beach chair or feed the domesticated stingrays that hang out looking for food and a stroke on the back.
The love of water is probably the greatest attraction to Exuma. Here you can take your pick of Scubadiving (Dive Exuma), Parasurfing, snorkelling and even surfing on the ocean side of Stocking Island.
Bone-fishing enthusiasts know that Exuma is top-ranked for this sport. There are many charter companies available for hire.
Exuma is like home. Friendly, relaxing and inviting.
FROM TORONTO: Direct flights are available from Toronto on Sundays . Try searching BOTH the Air Canada Vacations website (www.vacations.aircanada.com) AND the Air Canada website (www.aircanada.com) for different pricing options. Availability and pricing is often quite different on each website for the same flight. Expect return flight costs between $380 and $900 depending on the dates. Contact the Owner (Cindy) about how to get the cheapest flights.
Direct Flights to Georgetown (GGT) are also available via Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta and Nassau with the large airlines. Return flight costs can vary from $200 to $500. If you fly into Nassau then there are at least 5 daily flights between Nassau and Exuma (Georgetown GGT) available with SkyBahamas or Bahamas Air at a cost of approximately $100 each way.
Our family fell head over heels in love for the Exumas because it provided a relaxing retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Exuma offers friendly people and quaint lifestyle that lets you 'chill out'. There are no shopping malls, fast food chains, cruise ships, or stop lights. Exuma has the perfect balance of things to do and see, restaurants, gift shops, sports and an abundance of times when you will feel like doing nothing.
Our first vacation to Exuma was the best vacation we had ever had. We returned refreshed and rejuvenated.
We feel fortunate that we can offer guests this wonderful island home.
Cindy Zahoruk and Luc Lacroix, Great Exuma Escape Inc. purchased this house in 2012
This property has a perfect location because it is only 8 minutes from the airport. After the stress of flying you breeze through the Georgetown airport, walk 50 paces to pick up your rental car and within an 8 minute drive you are relaxing on the porch, with a cold drink. Don't worry the airplanes are not a disturbance as there are only a handful of flights per day.
The 3 hour flight from Toronto is non-stop with Air Canada on Sundays and Thursdays (Winter). There are direct flights also from Atlanta (Delta), Nassau and Miami.
The house is centrally located on the island, close to shopping in Georgetown, restaurants and Sandals golf course.
Did we mention that it is on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach you will ever encounter. With water so clear and warm and of the colour blue that you will never forget.
We designed this house to be perfect for larger groups. Whether it is 2 families with kids, 4 couples, or parents, grandparents and grandchildren. It is large and spacious, has an enourmous Great room, wrap around porch, comfortable furniture and all of the things you would need to make wonderful meals, be entertained, relax, conduct business (if you must) and simply feel like you are at home.
As usual, we had a great stay with 3 other couples at the Nemo house. Totally laid back experience in one of the more remote islands of the Bahamas. Kitchen/dining area are huge, and stocked with all of the cooking equipment you might need. Which is good, because you should bring most of your dinners with you and prepare at home. Not much quality dining out, though they try a new restaurant every few years, but most are out of business shortly thereafter, and are usually quite expensive as well.
But why would you want to leave this lovely spot anyway? We give it a solid 4 stars and will return each year.
We stayed at the Nemo House over Thanksgiving week of last year. The house was perfectly represented in the description and exceeded our expectations. When we entered, we felt right at home! Everything was so well maintained and clean. The kitchen was so stocked with everything you could ever want and was so organized that when i reached for an item and looked where I thought i should be, it was there. There were plenty of towels, water toys and seating for our group of 4 adults and 5 kids. They loved the house, the beach right outside was beautiful and the staff was so helpful and accommodating. We would be back in an instant. Great proximity to other beaches, bars and the main town. Cynthia (the owner) was great about keeping in touch and had so much great info and suggestions for our trip. The guestbook that was there was full of tour info and tips for the island. We loved the day excursion with 4C's to see the adjoining islands, the small boutique hotel we found and all the great beach bars we would plant ourselves at. The kids loved swimming with the pigs, the Iguanas and feeding the rays at Chat N Chill. Truly a piece of heaven!!! Great vacation that we would recommend in an instant! We will be back :)
Nemo House is truly a slice of paradise in paradise. The house is spacious, luxurious and all of the rooms are private. We stayed with extended family and everyone was able to retreat either into their private suites, a nook on the expansive porch with the best view on the island, the beach (10 steps down), or jump in one of Nemo House’s kayaks. If you cook, you’ll appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and the layout. Owners Cindy and Luc are very professional and organized an supply a book with every resource you might want on the island. The property is also professionally managed and if you have questions, there is someone to contact locally. We highly recommend this property and hope to go back!
Nemo House is outstanding! We love the island and people! There is a direct flight from Toronto to Great Exuma and the house is only about 10 to 15 mins from the airport. Very easy to get to! The weather was great. The house itself is truly beautiful, warm and luxurious. I love the wrap around porch and the kitchen is to die for. I would call it an infinity kitchen. The view from the granite counter is spectacular. Nemo House has all the amenities, including WiFi and a phone line.
The beech is beautiful and private and the water is turquoise . I swam parallel to the beech and it was amazing. The water was so clear and gorgeous. On windier days you can ride the waves!! We also went kayaking.
Going into town is very fun. You can get groceries, coffee, and shop at the quaint gift stores. Close by there is a butcher shop where you can find great fish and meat (it's wonderful cooking in that kitchen, so spacious)
There are a variety of day trips. I recommend Sugar Adventures as one you must do.
We had an outstanding holiday here.It was serene and relaxing and so much fun. Thank you Nemo House!!
This was a perfect spot for our extended family reunion with activities for all ages from beach walking to kayaking. The gourmet kitchen made it easy to prepare meals for the group. The local markets had everything that we needed including special rum cake from Mom's Bakery.
Our stay at Nemo House was so relaxing. It's a really nice huge beach front house with beautiful scenery. Esther was good at answering our questions and I enjoyed all the people that she put us in touch with for activities. Sugar Tours was fantastic and enjoyed watching him spear fish for lunch on the beach. The steel drum lessons were great and Brian's boat tour was fun too!
I loved my stay and would definitely go again.
Great Exuma is an island of simplicity and solitude and the colour of the water around this picturesque Bahamian island is unlike any other.
Your stay at Nemo house in Great Exuma will be a relaxing one. You can watch the kids play on the child safe beach while you enjoy your morning coffee on the covered porch. In the evenings enjoy the calming sound of the surf nearby while you enjoy a freshly caught lobster dinner, or go to a local restaurant 'Rake and Scrape' or the Fish Fry for some local food, music and entertainment.
The clear, warm waters provide excellent fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. On a calm day you can wade into the shallow, white sand bottom waters and on a windy day the waves are high enough for surfing off Stocking island. Nearby Georgetown offers boat rentals, boat guides, grocery and liquor stores as well as restaurants and shops. A short 15 minute drive west to Sandals Emerald Bay resort will bring you to the Spa at Sandals and the Greg Norman designed golf course.
Georgetown International Airport welcomes many direct flights from Toronto (3 hours), Nassau (35Min), Miami (1 hour) and Atlanta (2 hours)
