About Anne Mandeville-Long

Twin Birches has been a part of family gatherings and romantic getaways for 20 years. We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday with siblings, spouses and grand children from up and down east coast and as far away as London. All 29 of us sat at tables set up in the family room. When the house is bursting with family during the winter holidays, my mother loves to hear the plow on early snowy mornings knowing that some will be off to the mountain and others will stay behind to sit by the fire and read a good book. In the summer she likes to hear children splashing in the pool and waits to hear about adventures of hiking in Merck forest or the trouble people get into shopping in the discount stores in Manchester...Armani, Crew, Theory, etc.

Anne Mandeville-Long purchased this house in 2002

Why Anne Mandeville-Long chose Dorset

My parents were excited to buy property in the Battenkill Valley because my father came here as a boy to visit his uncle, Horace Brown, a famous Vermont artist and a founder of the Southern Vermont Art Center, and to play golf with his father and 2 brothers while staying at the Equinox Hotel. Come share the fun, make new memories and love it as much as we do.

Wonderful ski weekend

  • of 5

We stayed at Twin Birches to be near other friends and ski at Stratton. Very close to Manchester as well. Our hosts were wonderfully helpful, the house was spacious and had everything we needed. We had a great stay, highly recommended.

Fantastic House!

  • 5 of 5

The house is amazing, it can easily fit 10 people. Nearly everything needed is in the house. The view from the terrace is amazing too. The house is also within 10 min drive to the town center where all the restaurants, supermarkets and factory outlets are.

The only thing which was a bit inconvenient was that the house keeper was hard to reach by his pager, so when we had problems we just contacted Anne directly instead. Anne responded to our messages very promptly and has been extremely helpful during our entire stay. So despite of this, the place is still a FIVE STAR.

Overall it is a great place to stay and we hope to visit here again =)

just lovely

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for a family (or two) looking to get away. The location is fantastic - off the main roads and completely private but close to all the restaurants and activities in Dorset, Manchester and the surrounding area. The house is charming and the deck, yard, pool and surrounding woods make it feel that much larger. The house was clean and well tended to. The owner and property manager where available if needed but also made us feel the place was ours for our stay. We're hoping to visit again!

It exceed are expectations

  • 5 of 5

The description was very accurate, many extras beyond description for condiments and glassware.

Very clean all bedding and towels fresh and clean.

The owner was exceptionally helpful in setting up our accommodations. Including help from her maintenance cleaning the pool everyday and outside clean up.

I highly recommend this family property, we felt very comfortable lots space with many gathering places including a spacious deck with a great view of the Green Mountains.

It is 4 miles to Manchester, great shopping, played golf and drinks at the Equinox Hotel and resort, neat place. Two miles from Dorset where the family wedding activities where held at Dorset Inn and Fairly House both highly recommended It could not have been more convenient.

Vermont 1st Timer

Wow a perfect VT retreat with more than enough room for all the family. Everything about the house down to the landscaping was absolutely perfect. The town was close enough to enjoy with excellent restaurants and shopping but the Dorset Marble Quarry literally 5 minutes away was Awesome!
