Three bedroom, 3.5 bath villa for rent in the desirable Peterborg section of the beautiful island of St. Thomas. Views of Hans Lollick, St. John, the British islands and blue seas beyond will enchant you from this seaside villa set atop a bluff at the ocean's edge where you can watch sea turtles swimming below. Well laid out with a bi-level floor-plan and air-conditioned throughout, the main floor contains living, kitchen and dining areas and one bedroom/bath suite. The modern kitchen (re-modeled in 2011) has all necessary amenities and includes a wine cooler.
Each room has its own deck; french doors open to a staircase down to a sunny cliff-side pool and deck complete with its own palm trees. Adjoining the pool deck is the spacious air-conditioned master king bedroom with bath suite including an alfresco shower and double sinks, and its own balcony overlooking soothing waves breaking in the cove below. Property also boasts an air-conditioned cottage with its own kitchen, queen bedroom area and alfresco shower and private deck. With the sounds of whispering waves and cooling trade-winds gently sweeping by, this very well-equipped villa provides a wonderful spot on St. Thomas's north side for a relaxing vacation. The villa is set on a nearly one acre ocean-front parcel with tranquil landscaped gardens featuring an abundance of colorful flora, plus fruit trees, Traveler Palm, and a bougainvillea privacy hedge.
Also includes access to neighborhood pocket beach on Magen’s Bay (Platform Beach)
Only 5 min. from Crosswinds Villa: Be sure to visit Magens Bay Beach. Consistently ranked in the 'Top 10 Worlds Most Beautiful Beaches'. There you will also find full facilities, restaurant/bar & a gift shop.
St. Thomas has many restaurants/bars & endless activities. Golfing too @ beautiful Mahogany Run Golf Course which is only 10 minutes away--open to the public. The villa is also convenient to duty-free shopping @ Charlotte Amalie harbor. Be sure to take a day-trip to St. John--only a 20 min. ferry ride away. Or perhaps visit the BVI's, also just a ferry ride away. By day watch the shimmering sea and by night stargaze by the light of the moon. True Paradise!
We traveled to St. Thomas for a Thanksgiving getaway in 2011 and absolutely fell in love; not only with the island of St. Thomas but with the Peterborg Estate area as well. Peterborg is on a beautiful, quiet peninsula surrounded on one side by Megan’s Bay and on the other side by the ocean with stunning island views, yet it provides easy access to the other attractions and dining options on the island. We loved it so much that we purchased the Crosswinds property in 2012 so that we could continue to enjoy it for years to come. We love to travel, and uniqueness and comfort are important to us. Crosswinds has both. From the tranquil landscaped gardens to the sunny cliff-side pool and deck (complete with its own palm trees, which make for a perfect shady spot for reading, napping, or sipping on cocktails) to the air-conditioned master king bedroom that overlooks the soothing waves breaking in the cove below, Crosswinds has everything you need to relax, unwind and enjoy. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.
Dee Torpy purchased this villa in 2012
We had the most amazing time! Thanks, Joe and Dee, for extending your home to use on our honeymoon. We could not have imagined a more beautiful home on vacation. Matt saw 2 stingrays and huge schools of fish, 3 giant groupers and a shark! I was enjoying my book during the shark experience. :). The beaches were beautiful. There was great snorkeling at Maho and Drunk Bays on St. John. Magen's was great, too.
Most of the time we just enjoyed the house and views and watching the lightening storms from the balcony of the house.
Thanks so much!
A very nice house in a remarkable setting. A very comfortable and informal living space with lots of light and great views. Kitchen nicely equipped. Plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy the ocean views. Really nice patio/pool area. Three comfortable bedrooms in three different areas of the house, so lots of privacy for sleeping. The sound of the ocean from all three bedrooms. Excellent locataton a very short drive from Magen's Beach. We were very pleased with the house, and we hope to come back.
Two items to flag. There are lots of steps down from the private parking area to the house. That was certainly fine with all of us, but it might be a problem for someone with mobility impairments. And the house faces north-northeast, and therefore the patio gets a lot of wind from the prevailing winter winds; there is a wooden screen to block out some wind, but it stays pretty breezy. But lovely!
Extremely helpful owner who gave lots of tips and answered all questions. Very trustworthy, very friendly. We hope to be back.
I stayed at Crosswinds in August and loved it. The views from the pool, decks and the bedrooms are stunning. Each time we walked into the house, we were blown away by the view. The house is very private. And the yard is full of tropical flowers and plants. One of my favorite things was the outdoor shower - each morning I would shower and enjoy the view watching the waves crash on Peterborg point. We spent most of our time on deck by the pool (the palm growing in the deck is awesome) but enjoyed the upper decks for coffee and meals. Peterborg is a great place to stay on St Thomas. Many high end homes, but relatively quiet yet close to Magen's Bay and only 15 minute drive to Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie. Walks in the morning and evening in the neighborhood are great - so many nice views. Owners were easy to work with and provided many great suggestions on places to go and restaurants they like.
My new husband and I went to Crosswinds in October for our honeymoon. Not only did it exceed our expectations, but we hope to go back again soon. The views are exceptional and the house itself was spectacular. The view waking up overlooking the ocean and distant island was better than we could have imagined. The house was clean and perfect for the 2 of us... we'd like to go back soon with family as it would easily accommodate more. Thanks, Crosswinds Oceanside Villa, for an amazing honeymoon!
This place was incredible. We stayed here after a longer stay in the BVIs and it was by far the best part of our stay in St Thomas. It is quite well kept and could not possibly be more private. We had an amazing time hanging by the private pool (w/ great sound system, a nice surprise) on the nice days and spent the T-Storms relaxing in the Master room watching DVDs they had on-site...great view overlooking the water and a ton or private deck space. Gena was wonderful - quick and responsive if anything was needed. Would stay again and bring friends next time!
Crosswinds Villa is awesome The view is breathtaking. The villa and pool was just what I needed to totally relax. Gena met our party at airport and escorted us to villa. St Thomas is great. Meagan`s Beach is the most beautiful I have been to.
The villa had all the essentials and more for an enjoyable vacation. There were times I stayed alone and I felt perfectly safe Plenty of linens and other essentials were provided. The management were the best. Gena and her husband were there if there were a question about anything. I will be returning to Crosswinds again
My husband and I recently stayed at Crosswinds and absolutely loved it! The house is amazing and the views truly breathtaking. It sits on a cliff overlooking the atlantic and over the course of our stay we saw 4 whales breaching right in front of the villa! The mstr bdrm is very large and has 2 sliding glass doors facing the water (every room in the house has sliders facing the water). There was nothing better than lying in bed at night listening to the waves crashing below, or waking up in the morning to the sun rising over nearby islands. There were also so many great “viewing” spots that we developed a routine of coffee in one spot each morning, lunch in another and dinner on the upper deck. Oh, and evening cocktails in yet another spot! The yard is equally as breathtaking – fruit trees, hummingbirds, all kinds of tropical plants and flowers. The stairway leading down through the property was lit up each night when we’d arrive home from our travels making us feel like we were in a tropical paradise.
I must admit that we found it hard to leave the villa. While we did try to get out to sight-see most mornings, our afternoons were typically spent in and around the pool area.
The Peterborg area is extremely quiet and a great place for morning or early evening walks. We took several walks out to the point where you can watch the waves crashing over the rocks, or along Magen’s Bay where the water is quite peaceful (though this side can get quite warm starting early as there isn’t usually the breeze you get on the atlantic side.).
Magen’s Beach is a short drive from the villa and is quite beautiful. It has a beach bar and rentals (chairs, kayaks, etc.). Our favorite beaches were Secret Harbour (great snorkeling), Sapphire, Lindquist and, of course, Platform Beach which is a small, fairly secluded beach close to the villa that Crosswinds has access to. We did the day trip (car ferry) to St. John one day as well. It was super easy and just a short 20 minute ride on the ferry. If you go, leave via Red Hook.
Restaurants we enjoyed were Caribbean Fish Market, Oceana, Old Stone Farmhouse, Northside Bistro (great live piano and/or jazz music), and Island Time Pub which has great pizza. Fun night spots: Duffy’s Love Shack and Iggie’s Beach Bar but, again, we mostly enjoyed going back to the villa at night, looking up at the stars from the deck and listening to the sounds of the waves below us.
I can’t wait to get back to this property!
